  1. Yes, same thing happened to me. The girl wanted to know the dates I was going to travel. I said I didn't know and that this was in case I had to fly out due to an emergency. Eventually, a more senior officer said it was OK. First time they have ever asked.
  2. I have two shrines at home. One for Buddha and one for the local spirit and guess what? They both have tables (but, no chairs). They're used for offerings.
  3. Got my extension for retirement a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I wouldn't go early as everyone else does as well. I usually turn up at around two in the afternoon and there is virtually no wait, except for the document check. I also went on a Friday which also helped. I ordered a one year statement from Bangkok Bank and it arrived by email two days later. On the day I went to immigration, I took 100Bt out of the account, updated my passbook, and then went in to get the three month statement and letter. Only took copies of the last three extensions (as instructed on their site). All documents accepted without further questions and signed their form about understanding the rules. Don't know why they did this as I had a signed TM2 which is virtually the same thing. Went back on the following Monday. Getting the re-entry stamp in the big room took far longer than submitting my passport and paperwork for the extension.
  4. Was wondering when someone would mention Karma. If you believe in such a thing, Karma doesn't work that way. What you do in this lifetime affects the next lifetime, not this one. Personally, I think it's all rubbish. Chance and randomness rule this universe.
  5. The view new content at the top of the page is obscured by an Aetna ad. It's unusable as you always go to the ad. I use the one at the bottom of the page. Regardless, this needs to be fixed.
  6. Just remember that there isn't a single person on the planet that knows more about what happens after you die, than you do yourself. If they claim they do, ask for evidence.
  7. ......and yet you still came three times.
  8. I know nothing about wine, rarely drink the stuff and after two glasses, regardless of the quality, it'll taste like vinegar to me. Nonetheless, I'm willing to share my fool-proof method of buying wine where you always end up with a good tasting, value for money wine, regardless of the grape variety. First, I look for a middle priced wine. Not the cheap stuff and not the most expensive. Then, I look in the Chilean and Argentinian wine section and buy the bottle with the prettiest label. This method has always stood me well, in the past.
  9. Hope you have a high tolerance for aircraft noise.......

    Cool!

    It's not weather, it's climate.
  11. That still is no guarantee. Years ago, I handed over $10k to a registered forex dealer. He just churned the money (excessive trading), made a small commission on every trade until all the money was gone. Not a chance of any action as he could claim that he believed that every trade was necessary.
  12. Am I high quality, or low? I wouldn't know. It is for others to judge
  13. I have a house here and if I didn't, I couldn't afford the Amanpuri.
  14. Having money and fame doesn't necessarily mean someone is "pretentious", or thinks that they are "special". You sound just a teensy bit jealous.
  15. Amanpuri. All the music and film stars stay there.
  16. I see that modesty isn't one of your vices........
  17. None of those are "values". They are attributes......
  18. Not at all. Gold has many uses besides jewelry. Your mobile phone has gold inside as do nearly all printed circuit boards (PCBs). In fact, it is pretty much in all electronics due to it's excellent conductive properties and lack of corrosion. I don't think jewelry or, electronics are going away any time soon. On top of that, is it's very long history as a hedge against dodgy fiat currencies and especially inflation. Bitcoin is being used more and more by criminal enterprises. Totally marked for excessive regulation by banks and governments.
  19. Pretty much what my financial advisor said. All reliant on supply and demand. No intrinsic value.
  20. That should have been 1000 pounds sterling a month you earned. The rest? Forget it. If I have to explain it, it's lost on you. One hint is that the average wage in the UK is more than double your monthly pay.
