  1. It is just me.....

But if were acused of being a kiddy fiddler, I don't beleive I would flee to Thailand.... the sex capital of the world.... and at times known for "deviant" sex, and I for sure would not suround myself with more potential victims....

    I see a pattern here....

sounds like karma in this case

Actually he didn't flee to Thailand... he was in Thailand and working at a school in Phuket... and came under investigation for alleged acts there. He then was caught up with this Australian case.

A long thread on all this and his case in Thailand from around 2 years ago is gone. :)

  2. Surasak Petsawang, the red-shirt leader, denied that they would hold a black-magic rite for Thaksin, saying there would be only prayer and a Buddhist service.

Wonder why they are distancing themselves from black magic. That's been a cornerstone of Thaksin's legacy with multiple refererences and threads in the past on the subject.

quote:The Chiang Mai Lovers 51 Club will mobilise more than 10,000 supporters of Thaksin to celebrate with a religious service

Does that include repentance for their violent and deadly actions over the past year?

In Roi Et, a group that calls itself the Roi Et People Who Love Democracy plans to hold a two-day and two-night black-magic rite at a market in Art Samart district aimed at boosting Thaksin's luck.

Ahhhhh... there we go. Back to the good ol' Thaksin black magic....

Not sure if the translation is right - Thais everywhere perform ceremonies/prayers for increasing their karma/luck - its normally translated as blessings or merit making, and is typically done on a birthday.

But the bias media are reporting it as "black magic". Are there going to be some chickens sacrificed or something ? no,i didnt think so. is there going to be a Prem voodoo doll made up? no.

You need to acquaint yourself better with Thailand.

Thaksin's various black magic ceremonies are quite different than the "go to the Wat on my birthday" ceremony and involve out of the ordinary and bizarre events that aren't mainstream Thai Animist/Buddhist ceremonies.

  3. In the first year of operation, the company sold 139 Elite Card lifetime memberships. However, the number so far this year is a measly two.

and Thaivisa has been privileged to hear from nearly all of these supposed members over the course of 82 threads covering the past five years.... and yet surprisingly....

Up to 200 complaints have been reported by TPC so far this year.

from all these alleged members posting, I can't remember a single complaint...

  5. Prasopsuk: Shareholding case of 16 Senators to be presented to Constitution Court this week

BANGKOK, 24 July 2009 (NNT) - The shareholding case of 16 Senators will be forwarded to the Constitution Court within this week, according to Senate Speaker Prasopsuk Boondej.

Mr. Prasopsuk stated that he would submit the Election Commission (EC)'s ruling to the Constitution Court on the shareholding case of the 16 senators, who were dismissed for breaching the Constitution by holding shares in companies related to the media and state concessions.

The Senate Speaker said the officials were working on the production of duplicates of the EC's ruling, which would be forwarded to the 16 Senators for defending against their allegations.

The Secretariat of the Senate indicated that the process would be time consuming as the EC’s ruling was as long as 4,000 pages and was not categorized individually on the disqualification of each senator.

  6. Reconciliation Committee: Charter amendment recommendations will reach Parliament

BANGKOK, 25 July 2009 (NNT) – The Reconciliation Committee is optimistic the Prime Minister will include the committee's 6 recommendations for constitutional amendment in the agenda of the Parliament’s new legislative session.

Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Direk Tuengfang, stated today that Mr. Abhisit had previously spoken informally that he would carry out the recommendations of the Reconciliation Committee as soon as possible.

He said the committee believed that its suggestions would enter the legislative session scheduled to begin on 1 August.

On comments by Whip Chairman, Chinaworn Boonyakriat, to establish a permanent Reconciliation Committee, Mr. Direk expressed an adamant rebuttal, saying such an act would reflect poorly on the government. He said the set up of a permanent committee would also create the impression that his panel was trying to buy time. He instead suggested the PM and the administration firmly take needed steps to dispel conflict.

  7. PM: More time needed to consider conflicting information on Sondhi case

BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) -- Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Saturday afternoon he needed a day or two more to consider conflicting evidence and evaluations on the attempted murder of Sondhi Limthongkul in April.

Mr Abhisit said he had received police reports Friday on the attempted murder of Mr Sondhi, a leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), and found that several items of information in the reports were different.

Evidence given by Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, responsible for domestic security, has its own sources, Mr Abhisit said, adding that he would not comment now.

Stressing that the attempted murder is not related to politics, Mr Abhisit said if he must make a decision on the case, consider all the information and then take appropriate action.

Mr Sondhi was ambushed by gunmen in a pick-up truck on his way to work on April 17. He was hit by gunfire but recovered after an operation.

The media magnate is a key PAD leader, the so-called "Yellow Shirts", whose leaders now face charges related to the seizure of Bangkok’s two commercial airports late last year in their mass protests against the then government of Somchai Wongsawat, a major ally of convicted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Meanwhile, Mr Suthep denied press reports on having conflicts with Mr. Abhisit over the plan to remove national police chief Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan for the delay over the case.

Suthep said deputy national police chief Pol Gen Thani Somboonsap, who supervised the investigation on the shooting of the media mogul, reported to him Friday on the progress of the investigation.

He said Gen Thani would continue to head the investigation team although the police officer is about to retire from service soon” as he believed more warrants could be issued in the case.

  8. Relaunching Thaksin Shinawatra

We will do it the old-fashioned way - I'll keep updating this space and you keep refreshing your page. I have both twitter and facebook accounts but for now will let Thaksin Shinawatra boom ahead using the two social network channels. He announced the twitter and facebook plans on Friday and it caused quite a stir in our newsroom. Good old Thaksin. Catch him if you can.

Preamble: Michael, I know you are resting in peace, but if by any chance talks about your memorial service being overhyped have annoyed you, point your critics toward Thailand. Rub it in their faces by asking "Have I ever held a birthday party like that you sorry nitpickers?"

If this whole intro makes me sound like a big nitpicker myself, sorry. It's true that Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva launched his hi-5 account a few years ago and I didn't say a word. And there are the likes of President Obama when twitter is concerned. But trying to organise a birthday party of the century and promoting it this way three months after our close shave with a bloodbath? I guess we have the right to be a bit sceptical and anxious.

It is believed that Thaksin will use the occassion to repaint himself as a peaceful man now ready to forgive and forget.

That's the only strategy left apparently, after the Songkran turmoil damaged his pretty fine image overseas.

He became a tainted good, and a shrewd businessman like him always knows what to do with a tainted good. You don't throw it away. Just add a few new features and relaunch it.

Merit-making events will take place nationwide barring the South. What message he will convey to his supporters and how he will convey it have been a subject of speculation, thanks to his close aides' claims that there will be a "big surprise".

Rumours that he would appear in the form of a hologram have been dismissed but still persisted.

We expect some kind of video footages of him making merits in Dubai to be shown one way or another to his supporters to make them feel he is "there" with them.

Events will take place in about a dozen provinces, starting in the morning. Focus will be on the Kaewfah Temple in Nonthaburi, the Uthai-tharam Temple on the Rama IX Road and a public venue in Roi-et. And just because the whole thing is about relaunching a political product doesn't mean it won't be superstitious. Religious ceremonies, according to news reports, include using a holy knife to "cut" or remove karma from Thaksin. I must have been a bad Buddhist because this is the first time I know we can do that.

So, a rumoured hologram and a holy knife will make Sunday quite interesting, if not "exciting" as promised on Thaksin's twitter. My update will start around 10 pm so please stay tuned.

  9. Big plans for birthday boy

Supporters of fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra all over the country today plan religious ceremonies and parties on a grand scale to celebrate his 60th birthday.

They plan to continue with their campaign to collect as many as 1 million signatures to seek a Royal pardon for Thaksin, in addition to offering food to monks across the country and holding black-magic rites to boost his luck and bring him back to Thailand.

Amarin Pachonyuth, chairman of People Who Miss Thaksin, said the club would organise a service for Thaksin at Wat Kaew Fah in Nonthaburi's Bang Kruay District attended by former Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, Thaksin's brother-in-law, and Yingluck Shinawatra, Thaksin's younger sister.

Amarin said those who attended would be moved to tears, but he refused to elaborate.

The red shirts in Buri Ram are expecting over 1,000 people at a religious service for Thaksin in Nang Rong district. Surasak Petsawang, the red-shirt leader, denied that they would hold a black-magic rite for Thaksin, saying there would be only prayer and a Buddhist service.

The Chiang Mai Lovers 51 Club will mobilise more than 10,000 supporters of Thaksin to celebrate with a religious service at Wat Phrathat Haripunchai in Lamphun's Muang district and a party at night at the Grand Warorot Palace Hotel, also in Muang district.

To commemorate the Buddhist Era year in which Thaksin was born, 2,492 cakes will be served and a 2,492-foot-long sheet of paper provided for supporters to write birthday wishes on, said Kanyapak Manichak, a local radio host better known as DJ Om.

They hope the paper will make the Guinness Book of Records.

The ex-leader is expected to make a phone-in address to his supporters at 9pm, Kanyapak said.

In Roi Et, a group that calls itself the Roi Et People Who Love Demo-cracy plans to hold a two-day and two-night black-magic rite at a market in Art Samart district aimed at boosting Thaksin's luck.

Chairman Wichianrachanin Sinthupria, said the group would solicit signatures from Thaksin supporters to seek a Royal pardon. He said leaders of the Democratic Alliance against Dictatorship (DAAD) led by Nattawut Saikua, Suthin Klangsaeng and Arisman Pongruangrong would be on stage.

He said the group would hold a bai si (rice-offering) rite to boost Thaksin's luck and morale because the ex-premier had visited Art Samart district to hear complaints.

Soil from eight places in which Thaksin camped out during that tour in January 2006 will be used in the rite.

The group said they would offer lunch to monks across the country at 11am and Thaksin would phone in at 8pm to his supporters, who would see him through video link.

Democrat Party spokesman Dr Buranat Samuttarak said the DAAD was within its rights to hold a |religious service for Thaksin but should not use the opportunity to solicit signatures for a Royal pardon because the Justice Ministry said that was unlawful as Thaksin had not served a jail term. He added that Thaksin's supporters should not widen divisions in the country.

In a related development, former Army chief General Sonthi Boon-yaratglin, who led a coup against Thaksin in 2006, said he saw the birthday celebration by Thaksin's supporters as a matter of faith in the ex-leader.

"There are people who love and have faith in him. It is a personal matter," he said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, meanwhile, will monitor Thaksin's speech today in order to determine whether it contains improper messages directed at the monarchy or government, said Panich Vikitsreth, vice minister for foreign affairs.

If that is the case, the ministry will find which country it is being made from, Panich said.

"If it is found to be the United Arab Emirates, the ministry will instruct the Thai ambassador to remind the UAE of its promise not to let Thaksin use the country as a political base," he said.

"There have been no confirmed reports of Thaksin's whereabouts. We have learned only that he travels widely and it is likely that he will make a recording of the speech."

  10. Govt scrambles to find Thaksin before his birthday phone-in

The government is again trying to find ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in the run-up to his phone-in address to supporters on his birthday on Sunday.

If Thaksin makes his phone call from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the Foreign Ministry will ask the Gulf state to honour its word that it will not allow Thaksin to agitate politically in the UAE, said Panich Wikitset, assistant to the foreign minister.

The UAE has promised to expel Thaksin and send him to Thailand if he is found in Dubai. The two countries do not have an extradition treaty, although there is a reciprocal arrangement that allows for the exchange of fugitives.

  12. PM to oversee Sondhi’s assassination case

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjaijva said on Saturday afternoon that he will step in to oversee the probe on the attempt to kill Sondhi Limthongkul, a core leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy.

Mr Abhisit stated that he would need about one or two days to study the reports by his deputy Suthep Thaugsuban and Pol Gen Thani Somboonsap, the deputy police chief and chief investigator of Mr Sondhi’s assassination case, as the they were different.

He said he will seek more information in order to come up with an appropriate solution to the problem.

  13. Thaksin party an H1N1 risk, says ministry

Advises people who are sick to steer well clear

The Public Health Ministry has advised people with flu-like symptoms not to go to the 60th birthday party of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra in Nonthaburi tomorrow due to concern about the spread of the A (H1N1) flu.

Crowded places were conducive to the further spread of the virus, so people in poor health should steer clear of the venue, according to Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai.

He said wearing face masks and adhering to hygiene guidelines would help reduce transmission of the virus for those who could not resist the urge to join the celebrations. ''Anyone with flu-like symptoms shouldn't join the bash. But if the urge is irresistible, wearing a face mask on going to the crowded area will cut the risk,'' Mr Witthaya said.

Puea Thai Party MP for Bangkok Anudith Nakornthap

Birthday parties not ordered by Thaksin

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was not behind the plan to hold the nationwide celebrations to mark his 60th birthday tomorrow as speculated by the Democrats, Puea Thai Party MP for Bangkok Anudith Nakornthap insisted on Saturday afternoon.

Anudith also reaffirmed that the birthday parties for Thaksin were not initiated by the main opposition Puea Thai Party. “The celebration holding was initiated by the red-shirts who love the ex-premier. The red-shirts have constitutional right to hold any party. The celebration does not abuse other people’s right”, the Puea Thai Party MP said, adding that Thaksin has never learnt before that there would be a religious rites at Kaew Fah temple in Non Buri.

He was contacted by core leaders of the United front of Democracy against Dictatorship only for asking him to phone in to address his supporters in Bangkok and other provinces on Sunday because the red-shirts wanted to jointly celebrate the birthday party with him.

  15. you decieved me.

they are not links for Thaksin twitter they are Thaivisa twitter.

Where did you get your PhD? Obviously somewhere where comprehension wasn't important. If you think someone's deceiving you because they clearly state "Thaivisa.com" before the link, then it's little wonder you are one of the great deceiver's greatest fans. You see deceit when none is there, but fail to see it when it is.

That's all part of his continued deceiving...

He has no PhD as his signature proclaims (we sorted out that lie back in March I believe it was).

Also, he's certainly not Member # 1 as under his avatar of the square-head proclaims.

  16. Thaksin: I will return to save the country soon

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra told his red-shirted supporters that he would soon return to Thailand to help settle the pressing problems of the country. The declaration was made on Saturday afternoon while Thaksin was phoning in to address his supporters gathering at Bua Kwan temple in Nonthaburi province, where the one day in advance birthday party for the ousted premier was held.

Thaksin thanked the red-shirts for the party and told them to be patient and wait for his return. He was confident that he would be able to come home to lead the new government in dealing with various problems of the country.

Earlier, former PM’s office minister Jakkrapop Penkair had phoned in to give moral support to the red-shirts for their attempt to fight for a full democracy.

  20. Aide of Thaksin's Divorced Wife Testifies in Shin Corp Share Case

The personal secretary to Pojaman Damapong, former wife of fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, told the court that the Revenue Department's demand for the payment of unpaid tax from the Shin Corp share sales was a misunderstanding in the calculation of the tax.

Testifying before the Supreme Court's division for cases against political post holders, Kanjanapa Honghern, personal secretary of Pojaman Damapong, former wife of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra, insisted the share transaction of Shin Corporation to Ample Rich Company, owned by their children, Panthongtae and Pinthongtha, was in accordance with the regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Kanjanapa says the sale price was the same as the price of the shares on the stock market and there was no share concealment.

She added that the family's mistake which resulted in the Revenue Department's demand for the settlement of unpaid tax plus fine was caused by their unawareness that they had to include the shares they acquired indirectly in the tax calculation.

The charges stem from the Attorney-General's complaint asking the Supreme Court's division for cases against political post holders to confiscate 76 billion baht in cash and assets of Thaksin and his family that were acquired when they sold off their Shin Corp shares to Singapore's Temasek Holdings.

The Attorney-General alleged that the increased wealth of the Shinawatra family was dubiously amassed while Thaksin was in office.

The court's hearing for 55 witnesses of the defence and 52 witnesses of the prosecution will conclude on October 27 and November 19 respectively.

  21. Deputy Police Chief Denies Rift with Boss over Sondhi's Case

The deputy national police chief denies a rift between him and his superior over the investigation into the assassination attempt on People's Alliance for Democracy leader Sondhi Limthongkul. He also reiterated the issuance of arrest warrants against suspects in the shooting is not meaningless.

Deputy national police chief Police General Thani Sombunsap, chief investigator in the assassination attempt case of the People's Alliance for Democracy core leader Sondhi Limthongkol, said his team is still unable to locate the two suspects wanted for the crime. However, Thani insisted the arrest warrants issued against them will not be meaningless.

In response to news about more arrest warrants, Thani said the investigation is still underway and that the probe team is currently collecting more evidence. However, he declined to give a deadline for the new warrants.

The deputy police chief said even if the suspects are police officers under his command, any legal action against them will be made within the scope of law. He added that they will not be given any privilege. Similar treatment will also be given to any soldiers suspected to have played a key role in the assassination attempt against Sondhi.

Earlier, Thani told reporters many threats have been made against the investigation team. But he declined to give any information about those who have resigned from the team.

The progress of the investigation is reported to national police chief Police General Patcharawat Wongsuwan, Thani's direct superior, every 15 days. Despite news of possible disagreement between Thani and Patcharawat over the case, Thani insisted there is no rift between him and his boss.

Meanwhile, appointed Senator Police Colonel Sonthaya Saengpoa has shown his support for Thani and his team. Sonthaya praised the chief investigator for his dedication and determination to work transparenly and honestly.

  22. October 7 crackdown probe ends

A panel of the National Anti-Corruption Commission has finished questioning witnesses in the police crackdown on People's Alliance for Democracy protesters in front of parliament which left many people killed and injured on October 7 last year, said Commission member Wichai Wiwitsewi on Thursday.

Mr Wichai, who is in charge of the investigation, said his panel will hold a meeting in a few days to go through the investigation report to make sure it is completed. A full report recommending action on the seven people accused of being responsible for the crackdown is expected to be forwarded to the NACC early next month, he added.

The seven accused are former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat, former deputy prime minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, Police Chief Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan, Pol Gen Viroj Paholvej, Pol Lt-Gen Suchart Muankaew, Pol Maj-Gen Likit Klin-uan, and Pol Maj-Gen Ekarat Meepreecha.
