Your M340i will have plenty of that!

We have a Z4 with the same engine and a C43 with a similarly powered V6.

The C43 is way more refined than the Z4, which is grunty and twitchy!  But that's RWD - I think yours is AWD - so you might not have the twitchyness of the Z4 - but the noise and performance is a lot of fun. Has to be said BMWs gear change timings are way better than the C43.

But I still love my C43, in case she's reading.

Get past your 1000km run in - then toe it a bit - and pics if you pimp it up a bit.

As i haven't tried it yet I don't know if it satisfy me, I will see,

Looking at numbers by itself is is tempting to boost it as it doesn't take a lot for this model to come close to M3 performance

Why would you chip this brilliant engine?

    More power than ever needed.

And where would you drive quicker or accelerate quicker.

Speed limit 120 and many crazy drivers on the road.

    You've plenty of bum.

That is always up for debate, but on the other side there are also a lot of charm to an unmolested car like this, especially if a resale is coming up

I'd go with a cold air intake, an exhaust system and a piggyback ECU mod, perhaps a JB4. The new Bosch BMW ECU's are locked and not currently tunable as far as I know.

Yes that's also down the lines of my thinking.

I saw a youtube video of a guy that changed the down pipe to one without cats. and a ECU remap and he got almost 500 Hp and 650Nm with these few mods

  4. Anyone have one ?

What mods have you done or are planning, if any?

    I'm getting mine soon.

I will see how I like it first, but a ECU tune from a well known  shop in Bkk will take it from app 380Hk / 500 Nm to 420 Hk / 590 Nm - which should do I think.

The thing is i like the size of the aerox, the bigger bikes (had a 650cc) are bigger in size too. That negates the usefulness of the bike. I like the size of the Aerox but would like more power.

I was thinking of taking the engine/drivetrain from a Xmax 300 ccm and fit it on the Aerox.

No need to mod engine just go.  It will cost a little , but the fun of a little fast scooter will be worth it, me think.

    So wrong.

Find me a good Jap car that has a turbo and 300hp but still look luxurious and not just sporty.

all cheap charlies talking about what they have no idea always make laugh.

I have never driven a Jap car more than just trying them and going back to German cars.

Sure people around the world, even in US, buy German cars because they are bad.

    So funny... hahaha...

Don't worry about the German cars !

It's the normal rant saying it's only for loosers trying to look HiSo etc, it makes them sleep better at night, let it be.

Best get rid of it before it gets to 100k, mine was fine then..... Bang!!!

My friends 520d has covered 350 K Km without a breakdown or anything unusual , still goes strong. His car is in Turkey but I don't think that makes a difference.

Have many similar stories from people I talk to.

It sounds like you have been unlucky beoynd normal for these cars.

Its the 2 litre diesels, i think the bigger engines are ok, the 2 litre is <deleted>!! I had the F10, drives nice when running but big repair bills, rear suspension collapsed first, another common problem when i googled it, about £800to fix, camchaun £3000,it was a money it, not a patch on Jap rivals, ive had 3 lexus and no problem, i think i had a rear bulb blow on one, thats it!!

My F10  (520d) still goes like new after close to 7 Years and 65 K Km. Only problem I have had was the tank filler lid did not close and that was when it was 6 month old.

Before that one I had a 320d which engine was water locked , but that is another story and not the cars fault as such.

I worked a couple of year in different parts of Malaysia and never felt truly welcome. There is this underlying segregation between the Malay, Chinese-Malay and Indian-Malay everywhere you go.

Thailand feel more like home to me.

I agree 100% with your post - I felt the same way working in different parts of Malaysia.

It helped me to understand why I will never want to live there.

  10. I plan to visit Hong Kong and at the same time get a Non O Visa (dependant visa - having Thai child).

However I am not 50 or over, and I read this on the HK web site

    What is that about ?

Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (Long Stay) Download required form here

This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working.

Holder of this type of visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for 1 year. Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.

    1. Eligibility

1.1 Applicant must be aged 50 years and over (on the day of submitting application).

1.2 Applicant not prohibited from entering the Kingdom as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).

1.3 Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality or residence.

1.4 Having the nationality of or permanent residence in the country where applicant’s application is submitted.

1.5 Not having prohibitive diseases (e.g., Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.

  11. Buy a mtx 200 here in Thailand, a lot less work.... 28 horsepower,

so would make short work of any police trying to chase you..

the Nova Dash will beat it easy.

My modified Nova Dash will beat it easy.

I was looking at the KTM's a while back and a 300 ESC could proberly be fun, and a decent ride, but for now I will do it small bike / MSX style.

When I go 2-stroke it is front end up in as many gears as possible in straight engine puling power.

The Dash did that up to 4 th gear and speed around 130/140 kpm in the old days - it will be back in glory again soon.

  12. This is in the smaller bike division, but still fun I think.

    1.

I have dragged my old Honda Nova Dash out of the garage. and stripped it down for a new build up incl. tuning of engine (drag racing style).

The bike is almost done (by my Thai mechanic friend).

    2.

My next project has been tumbling in my head, since I saw the Honda MSX first time.

I plan to put a Yamaha Yz 85 (or 125) on a Honda MSX !

I will buy a new Yz engine soon and also a MSX to fit it in.

There is going to be quite some mods done to the little MSX, as engine mounts are far from a "bolt on".

Original they are top side of engine and the YZ is buttom side of engine.

    It is doable !

I am not going to make a motocross copy of the MSX and use on the track - no it is going to be a street version with extended swing arm, and if I have to outrun the cops - so be it.

All just for fun and little use, but nice to have on a Sunday.

    Any objections ?

  13. Sorry Yankee99, I think the problem of over heating will not apply for any real MX/motocross bikes, they're build to withstand twice the abuse the best motocross riders in the world can give them... at 50º Celsius for hours... and I will bet that nobody in Thailand would be able to kill a properly prepared motocross motorcycle ....

Yes, real motocross motocross motorcycles need more attention and way more service, which Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, or Suzuki do not offer... So if you buy a “real” motocross bike you should know what you get into...

What brings me to, why some second hand motocross bikes so cheap in Thailand? They probably cost more to fix than they worth, service and knowledgeable mechanics is key for maintaining a “real” motocross motorcycle... I have see secondhand motocross motorcycles that were serviced like they where a regular road bike and they basically damaged beyond repair....

So be very careful if you want to buy a secondhand MX/motocross motorcycle.... I would advice against buying used MX/motocross bikes.....

2nd hand MX bikes cheap ?

Where do you find them ? - besides some random old crap around !

I am looking for MX bike Japan brand hardcore 2 stroke 85 cc or 125 cc.

2nd hand but onlt slightly used and 1 or 2 years old - no issue for me as I can fix it.

No copy or modified crf or something else.

I am going dealer way if there is no specialist MX shop in LOS.

    Maybe a future business ?

  14. Hard to find something online, but Mocyc has a few old ones for sale and KTM sell new ones (245 K for a 85 ccm).

There must be a shop out there that specialize in motocross !

Yamaha in Phuket had 2 dirt bikes 250 and 450 (I think) - all looks random and not much choice.

I am looking for 2 stroke - 85 ccm or 125 ccm and fairly new if not new.

The KTM prices is a bit steep though.

I have send Yamaha Phuket a mail about these bikes

Do you know a good place anywhere in Yhailand ?

    Thanks for any input

  15. I am happy with service.

However take the flooding warning on BMW¨s homepage very serously.

I had a almost new 320d engine destroyed by driving it through water up over half the rims.

Here in Th you can often be in a situation with deep water - go aother way.

I now have a 5 serie, also bought new.

If I was to change now i would buy the new 325d as I prefer the diesel torque.
