I hope that his Visa will NOT be revoked - not because he is a fellow Swiss, BUT because Switzerland does not want him back...

Exactly, we do not need this lovely specimen of a human being back within our country confines! Perhaps Thailand could deport him to North Korea?

I think the Teana 2.5 changed to the 2.5L QR series 4 cylinder engine and CVT before 2016 in Thailand.  Still an OK car but some of the above comments about the earlier V6 models may not be applicable.

Exactly, the Nissan 6 cylinder engines are among the best and very smooth. I had two Teanas with the 2.3 and 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engines respectively. I also think the 2016 and newer models are 4 cylinders only. A pity since Nissan was the only brand in this segment still offering a very smooth and quiet 6 cylinder motor. The 2.5l Teana model came with CVT which took a bit of getting used to but eventually I found to be working well in combination with this engine.

I've been there, it was hot as hell, some nice waterfalls to swim in.

Our family farm is near LomSak, the roads aren't very good.

You have to go up to Khao Kho the area described in the report. Lomsak is down on the plains where indeed it gets very hot. I remember when we stayed at my wife's chalet just outside Ban Thung Samo and did a daytrip down to Phitsanulok where it was a sweltering 37 degrees C and coming back up to Khao Kho it was just below 30.

    I had 3 choices.

    Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia.

It was a toss up between malaysia and vietnam. I chose malaysia and have been here 8 years but i would have been just as happy in vietnam.

If i move again it will probably be vietnam or philippines. I have traveled a lot to thailand but as a place to live i prefer the others.

May I ask where in Malaysia do you live? I am considering the country (Penang) to spend winters there sometime in future. I am back in my native country in Europe, lived in Thailand for 23 years, liked it most of the time, not sure whether I want to go back there though for an extended period of time, too many things have changed....

i was under the impression they could already be bought on line... i think i've seen travel agents using an online booking system, maybe i'm wrong, maybe travel agents only...? anyway better late than never,

Correct, I purchased train tickets from the SRT website more than three years ago already. Perhaps this was available in Thai language only at that time, don't really remember.....

I wonder who other than the Chinese will qualify and will they be wearing tracking devices ...............LOL

The Chinese come equipped with tracking aps installed on their smart phones. The Thai authorities only need to log into the server in Beijing to access the respective tracking data.

  7. Arrived from Hong Kong at the age of 30 with my just married Thai wife at the end of 1994. Mostly enjoyed my stay in Thailand though the last few years with mixed feelings mostly due to personal reasons. Moved back to my home country in the centre of Europe after divorce and better business prospects at the end of 2017. Never regretted it, haven't been back yet, though winters here can be a bit long.
