  1. And yes, a link from yahoo news. Emmanuel Macron of France certainly is being sensible. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/macrons-china-remarks-exasperate-eu-161233362.html From the above article "In an interview with French daily Les Echos and news platform Politico, Macron warned against Europe being dragged into a conflict between Washington and Beijing. " And also "If the stand-off over Taiwan accelerates, he said, Europe might not have the time nor the resources to build the "strategic autonomy" to act without US leadership that France seeks. "
  2. What on earth does all this mean ? Are we trying to say that, it would be best to give Taiwan back to Holland ? Yes, if the Dutch got there before the Chinese, then Holland should have it, not China ? ???? Anybody looking at Taiwan today will notice that they look the same as the Chinese in mainland China. That's because they are the same. So, how about we keep it simple; anybody who looks Chinese is, is Chinese ? A lot of people don't realise that about one or two percent of the people in Taiwan are not actually Chinese. These non-Chinese are actually indigenous to Taiwan. Yes, for hundreds of years now, Chinese have been leaving China, turning up in Taiwan, and staying there. It might be said, that, Chinese have been carrying out mass murder and mass theft of land in Taiwan for centuries. Bit like Britain doing stuff in Australia and New Zealand. ???? So, what about this ? Planet earth gets together, and we expel the Chinese out of Taiwan. That's about 98% of Taiwan's population. Send these people back to their home, yes, China. And it becomes Beijing's problem as to what to do with these Chinese once they're back in China. This idea might solve the Taiwan problem. ????
  3. And I hope that the US government has got a good grasp of the consequences. What's America going to do when the civil between the Chinese re-starts ? Washington has refused to send soldiers to Ukraine, that's because sending soldiers will trigger World War Three. We're all in agreement that sending NATO soldiers to fight in Ukraine will be disastrous and catastrophic. Instead, NATO and others have drip-fed weapons to Ukraine, which continues the war. It's good for nobody. And about Taiwan ? Will Washington trigger World War Three if the Chinese civil war re-starts ? I hope Washington does not. Do note that when or if World War Three starts, Russia and China will be on the same side. It's not going to be America and Russia fighting against China. And China is not going to side with America against Russia. Sending US soldiers to fight in China's civil war will be just as disastrous and catastrophic as sending NATO soldiers to fight in Ukraine. So ? Drip-feed weapons to Taiwan ? War is not going to be over in a few weeks or months, it will carry on. And the longer the Chinese civil war goes on, the more damage to planet earth, including America. China's population is not going to rise up against Beijing due to the shortage of computer chips. ???? By the way, people who know about China will say, Chinese in China actually back Beijing just as much, or more than, Americans backing Washington. It's absurd to claim that Chinese are desperate to remove the Beijing government. The computer chip shortage ? Yes, America and other countries will go into economic depression, and descend into anarchy. But Beijing will make sure China does not descend into anarchy. Washington might be powerless to stop anarchy breaking out in America. Let's hope Washington will act wisely. ????
  4. And indeed, drip-feed weapons to Taiwan when or if China launches the attack. And drip-feeding weapons, that's what NATO is dishing out to Ukraine right now. And what happens ? The conflict is pro-longed, it continues. When will see an end to the war in Ukraine ? If violence breaks out between the two Chinas, let's hope it doesn't go on for months and months. The longer the conflict goes on, the more damaging it becomes across planet earth.
  5. "allow the people of Taiwan to choose their own government. " Yes, that sounds good, but is that the real goal of Washington ? It was the goal for the people of Kuwait, Nicaragua, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc, it was the goal to allow these people to have the government they actually want ? ???? That's what war is about ? And Republic of China is critical and vital for the modern world economy ? Well, Peoples' Republic of China is certainly vital for todays world economy. Stopping Peoples' Republic of China exporting it's goods will destroy the world economy. ????
  6. This issue is not going away, is it ? ???? "Do you expect TSMC manufacturing to continue if there is a war between Taiwan and China? " You're correct, war between China and Taiwan will stop production and/or Taiwan's exports of these chips. Yes, China might sink the ships exporting the chips, US and Taiwan defense systems will not be able to protect the ships. And we're getting scared, because the world might collapse into anarchy because these chips are not leaving Taiwan ? ???? By the way, will the US government block cheap Chinese goods entering America, bearing in mind that US soldiers will be firing their bullets at Chinese soldiers ? I reckon the US government will block Chinese goods. Yes, this will lead to anarchy in America. If Chinese goods are prevented from entering America, well, Walmart will have very little to sell in just a few months. Americans will panic. "it would take many years to build the facility and train the people, and it is unrealistic to expect chip technology to stand still while that is happening. " How long does the following gradual process take ? Put some of the production machinery that's in Taiwan onto ships, ships sail to California, machinery is unloaded onto California. Put machinery into factories in California. And put some into Texas as well. Do it gradually, might take a whole year to transfer the whole lot to America. And once the process is done, hey presto, problem with Taiwan is over and done with. No more worrying about how China attacking Taiwan will trigger World War Three. Planet earth will still have the computer chips, because it's being made in America. And if the Chinese in Republic of China don't want to move to California, well, bump up their salaries, that will make them move. There's already a load of Chinese in California, they're in America if they can get a higher salary. ???? Unrealistic for chip technology to stand still for a few years ? You're correct. Why is TSMC pouring lots of money, for wages given to staff, who carry out research and development on new chip technology ? Simple. Because all the time, other companies (yes, some are US companies, some are British) are carrying out their own development into new chip technology. If TSMC was stop research into new stuff, well, competitors and rivals all over the world will have the same stuff as TSMC in a few years time. This will collapse the profits made by TSMC. But do we really care ? Who cares if the chips are from TSMC or whatever rival ? We're fighting a war so that TSMC can carry on making whatever profit from these chips ? We don't want it's rivals having a lead ? And you're right about Taiwan's military hardware. Taiwan pays money to US defense contractors for those combat jets, missiles, etc. American tax-payers are not paying for Taiwan's defence. Same as South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, etc. Defence contractors make a generous profit. Sell to Taiwan or sell to the US government for America's defence. Maybe defense contractors lobby the US government to continue the present situation. ????
  7. "There are two classes of people, Those that hate China, and Those that have been there. " Well, there are those who hate China, and those who don't. What are the reasons for hating China ? A few reasons, and most of these reasons are silly or absurd. One of them is this. China is flooding America and Europe with cheap manufactured goods. So you get silly people who don't like this, but notice how these people buy Chinese goods just like everybody else. And notice how most people don't care about how most of the stuff in their homes has been imported from China. Yes, Chinese imports flooding America. It's a repeat of the anti-Japanese sentiment in the 1980s, when Japan was flooding America with manufactured goods. What else ? China is still communist, and the anti-communists (and anti-socialists as well) hate China for this. It's absurd, yes China still has a red flag, but to say they're not actually communists is putting it lightly. Why hate people who wear a communist t-shirt, but they're not actually communists ? And then there's racism. Notice how Russia has done it's stuff in Ukraine, but nobody wants America to fight Russia. But China against Taiwan, oh, people want America to go for it, yes, want to have a war against China. Why ? Is it because the Russians are white, and Chinese are yellow ? Chinese are coloured ? So, if you're white, and you do stuff, well, let's not have a war. But if you're Chinese, and you do the same stuff, well, got to have a war. ???? In other words, the desire for war against China is not actually about protecting Chinese on some island off the coast of China. It's about hatred towards Chinese, wanting to clip China's wings. ????
  8. I do love the bit when you write "Once built a huge technically capable work force must be recruited and trained. Such building is taking place in the US and Europe, but by the time it is complete the facilities in Taiwan will have had years to advance their manufacturing abilities to a new level." And "Important enough to throw the entire world into a major economic depression, with anarchy and chaos breaking out around the world." Okay, if right now today, if TSMC was to scrap or stop any new research into developing new chips, and carry on mass producing existing chips. Well, that's certainly not going to cause anarchy and chaos over the next ten years, right ? ???? So, if they move production to California very soon, to mass produce existing chips, and don't bother designing new chips, things are okay, right ? ???? They must train new staff in California to mass produce the chips ? Staff in California designing new chips ? How about let them Chinese in Republic of China go to California, give them work permits and visas to go ? Actually, it won't happen, why on earth would Chinese in Republic of China want to move to California ? ???? Anyway, the entire argument of protecting TSMC because it's so valuable and important is, is silly. How about telling TSMC that they're responsible for the huge bill regarding the vast amount of US military hardware in Taiwan ? And notice how Apple and Tesla (we're now talking about the real big boys in technology, and how much these companies are worth, and yes, they're American) both regard China as a huge market. People say that Apple has production plants in China, Beijing demands that Apple and other tech companies share their technology with China. And if they don't, Beijing will throw out such companies, and hence massively reduce the profits they make in China. Hence, Apple and Tesla fully co-operate with Beijing. Can TSMC do the same ? ????
  9. And indeed, why would anybody think that China would invade Thailand ? China invading Thailand would make no sense. Thailand is not a part of China, it never has been. And China has never claimed that Thailand is part of China. China has no reason to invade Thailand, that's why it's not going to happen. Now Taiwan, that's a different kettle of fish. Taiwan is part of China, or it use to be. Well, China reckons so. That's why Beijing wants Taiwan's soil. Beijing wants ownership of something that it's been claiming since, since 1949.
  10. It doesn't matter that we/you reckon that China's claim on Taiwan is reasonable or not. The important thing is this. A load of Han Chinese want to fight another load of Han Chinese. And we're going to allow our soldiers to die, just to stop Han Chinese fighting Han Chinese ? And a load of Qing (or Ching) want to rule over a load of Han. Well, let them. Why should British or American soldiers die to save a load of Han ? Let the Han defend themselves. It's their problem, let them deal with it. Qing against Han, Han against Han, what difference does it make ? It's the same. Bit like the modern-day Babylonians fighting against todays Persians. Let them do it, what's it got to do with America ? ????
  11. And I add to that. The USA has a Chinese Embassy, not a Taiwan one. And in London, there is a Chinese Embassy, no Taiwan Embassy. Therefore, I don't recognise Taiwan as a country. Every country on earth has the freedom and option to have a Peoples' Republic of China Embassy, or, or an embassy from 'Republic of China, Taiwan' . Very few countries choose Taiwan rather than China. China can have only one embassy in any or all countries. China must never have two embassies in any country in the world. There's no way I would accept two Chinese embassies in London. ????
  12. So, we're now talking about Taiwan having technology products, or other products, valuable stuff that they export to Britain and the rest of the world ? And, we're suppose to fight a war to defend Taiwan, to make sure our imports of whatever valuble stuff are safe ? This is sounding like a repeat of oil in previous decades. As in, oil is valuable, we'ill fight a war to defend the oil we're importing. We're not risking our soldiers so that whatever foreigners will have whatever benefits or freedom. And, and, is it because Ukraine has no oil, it has no valuable products, that why we're not sending our soldiers to fight and die for Ukraine ? Is that the case ? Look, if Taiwan did have vital technology for export, how about tell Taiwan to relocate their production centre to California ? That way, it will be safe. And how important is Taiwan economically to us ? The USA, Britain, and Europe, imports massively more goods from China than from Taiwan. Taiwan is a small fish compared to China. How important are China's goods in America, Britain, and Europe ? Well, let's put it this way. Put up sanctions against Russia because of Ukraine. China and India are lessening the impact of sanctions, because they're still buying Russian oil. How about boycotting Chinese goods ? China is, after all, buying Russian oil, China is (supposedly) the enemy. Sanctions against China's cheap manufactured goods ? It's laughable. Putting sanctions on Russian oil and gas is already very painful, putting sanctions on China will make it even more painfull. It's not going to happen. That's how badly China's goods are needed in America, Britain and Europe. ????
  13. So, Americans love the AR-15. And across the world, other people love this. Yes, the AK-47. Why are Americans different ?
  14. I can very easily turn that around, and say "do you think the Americans are insane and suicidal ? " . Washington does know, I think, that nuclear destruction will happen in America as well as China. Are the Americans in the White House insane ? They won't fight a war against Russia, because they don't want to get nuked by Russia. But, against China, getting nuked by China is worth it, in order to defend a load of Chinese on some island off the coast of China ? Sorry, that's not insanity, that's inconsistency. ????
  15. I think we should bear in mind a few points. So, Biden should spend more money on defense for America ? Well, this money has to be raised from tax-payer dollars in America. By the way, defense contractors (these are the guys who produce the weapons) make a profit when the US government orders/buys the stuff. And, places like Saudi Arabia and Taiwan, all that American weaponry (as in combat jets, helicopters, missiles, missile defence systems, etc, etc) is sold to them. Yes, these are valuable and profitable deals for the defence contractors. Cynics will say that the main point is for profit-making companies to lobby the US government, and get the big contracts to generate a big profit.
  16. The Taiwan government does not agree with me. So we're suppose to do what the Taiwan government wants us to do ? Look, let's say there's a place in the Middle East that wants our soldiers there, to defend it ? Does that mean we should send soldiers ? I think British soldiers should only be used to defend Britain, British soil. Why should British soldiers fight and die in a war thousands of miles away ? And indeed, to stop one lot of Chinese fighting another lot of Chinese. If these people want to fight, let them. In Africa, Middle East, Far East, let them. I just don't want to see any of our own risking their lives.
  17. So, somebody said that Taiwan is part of China, and you're saying "when exactly was Taiwan part of China ?" . Okay, how was Taiwan created ? In 1945, World War Two ended, Japan surrendered, and gave Taiwan back to China. Note that, Japan beat China in a war in the 1890s, and Taiwan became part of the Empire of Japan. In 1945, mainland China was called "Republic of China" and indeed, both mainland China and Taiwan were in a country called Republic of China, in 1945. And, in 1949, Chiang Kai Shek and the Nationalists lost the civil war in mainland China, and fled to Taiwan. And in 1949, Mao Zedong announced China's new name as "Peoples' Republic of China". China is still called that today. And when Chiang Kai Shek went to Taiwan, he became the founding father of modern day Taiwan. Taiwan today is still called, "Republic of China, Taiwan" . No matter how you see it, you've still got to accept that between 1945 and 1949, both China and Taiwan were in a country called Republic of China. Taiwan still is. And, what if, in 1949, what if Mao Zedong had not of given China it's new name ? Then China today would still be Republic of China. And, and, prior to 1949, what if China had of atacked Taiwan ? Prior to 1949, Mao taking Shanghai and Mao taking Taiwan would have been the same thing, surely ? And, Republic of China fighting Republic of China is a civil war, surely ? Why get involved in somebody's civil war ? ????
  18. Washington wants to use Taiwan as an excuse to fight a war against China, if or when it does fight a war against China. Yes, I think that is the case. And trade between China and Taiwan. Yes, if China really actually wanted to harm Taiwan, China would simply destroy Taiwan economically. China can do that by simply stopping trade with Taiwan. I say with a smirk, bit like England stopping trade with the Isle of Wight. ????
  19. There's already a war between USA and China ? America right now, is still importing vast amounts of cheap Chinese goods per month, the trade deficit per month is still huge. Obama, Trump, or Biden, I think it doesn't actually matter. The huge monthly deficit is still there. On a side note, notice how Europe has not actually totally stopped buying Russian oil and/or gas. Are people suppose to condemn China and India for importiing Russian oil ? What if China and India were to actually boycott Russian oil ? And go and buy oil from Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Iran, etc. That will surely send the world oil price through the roof ? ????
  20. So America will fight a war against China, if China invades Taiwan ? The Russians have invaded Ukraine, and Washington has wisely not declared war on Russia. Yes, we all know that sending US/NATO soldiers to Ukraine will be suicidal, it will lead to nuclear war. That's because Russia has still got it's nukes. Hence, NATO has not got involved in Ukraine. What about Taiwan ? Will America fight China ? China has nukes. Why refuse to fight Russia over Ukraine, but, but, go ahead and fight China because of Taiwan ? China has got nukes. They've certainly got more nukes than North Korea. So, planet earth ends by nuclear destruction because of Ukraine, that's called a waste. But planet earth ends by nukes because a load of Chinese in China are going to fight Chinese in Taiwan, well, that's worth it. It's worth ending planet earth ?
  21. And indeed, this sabre-rattling, it's best if the US stays out of it. As in, Washington should order it's warships to be away from the area.
  22. Okay, so what exactly is the problem ? Australia has a labour shortage, that means not enough people working. Basically, some Australians want to see only white migrants from Europe turning up in Oz. But people from Britain and Sweden are simply not going to go to Oz in large numbers. White migrants from Eastern Europe might go. But some Australians are similar to the Brexiteers in England. These particular Australians don't actually like Eastern Europeans, even though Eastern Europeans are white. So who are the new people who are willing to go to Australia ? Coloureds from places like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, etc. And indeed, some Vietnamese and Thais. Australians who don't like such new migrant workers should remember history. In the beginning, very few Brits actually wanted to go to Australia. Britain forced a load of it's own convicts and undesirables to go to Australia, as labourers. ????
  23. Why on earth would anybody living in New Zealand right now, go to Australia ? ????
  24. Thanks for putting this post up, I'm sure lots of men will look back at the time, and have fond memories. Off-course, I don't criticise military staff for constantly trying to contact local women. And local women servicing US military staff were there on their free will, they was earning good money. We're all men, we're all interested in beer and women. Yes, if the military base does come back, the US government might not allow a large area full of bars, nightclubs, massage parlours, etc near the base. The media and it's portrayal of the base will be regarded as important. The PR (public relations) will be looked at closely by the US military leadership. War is not just about the fighting itself. The PR war is regarded as being almost as important. But America didn't fully realise that during the Vietnam War.
  25. Okay, the US military are heading back into Subic Bay. Now, I don't know what the place looked like, when the US was previously there. And what did it look like ? Was there an area near the base, that provided services for the military staff ? As in, lots of bars, nightclubs, discoteques, massage parlours, eating places, dating agencies, etc, etc ? And when America heads back into Subic Bay, will those bars and nightclubs come back ? See, I've been to Pattaya many times, and off-course, there's a huge number of bars and nightclubs in Pattaya. But Pattaya services men who are civilians, so-called 'sex tourists' , men who are on holiday in Thailand, they're not soldiers. And I reckon Pattaya is, well, okay. But what about Subic Bay ? I just feel that, a large area, full of night-time entertainment places, near a foreign military base, it just doesn't look or feel the same as Pattaya or Phuket. ????
