  1. I've been working at one of Bangkok's public universities during the past nine months. I have a work permit, and an extension of stay based on a Non B visa. My contract with the university, the WP, and the extension of stay all expire on 30 Sept. or shortly after that.

The university offers me a new contract for a year, starting on 1 October. I have the signed contract and a supporting letter from the head of the university.

As I see it, I now have a choice of applying for either a one-year, multiple entry Non B visa (I happen to be in my home country, The Netherlands, around the turn of the month), or another extension of stay at Immigration here in Bangkok. However, I find it hard to figure out how the options score in terms of risks and in terms of advantages/disadvantages.

As for the risks, with the contract and the supporting letter I guess both routes should be doable. But if my application for a Non B visa for whatever reason gets denied, I would have to come back to Thailand on a Tourist visa and start all over again, wouldn't I?

And in terms of advantages and disadvantages: I understand that the Non B visa comes with the obligation to leave the country every 90 days, but is the same true for the extension of stay (sorry, my current extension of stay is less than 90 days, so little experience here)? And will an extension of stay be valid for a year from 1 October on or will they start counting from the starting date of my original/previous Non B visa?

Any answers / other suggestions much appreciated!
