  1. Hi All,

Does anyone have any recommendations . Would be grateful for contact details. Just a regular 4/5 passenger vehicle as its for a trip to about 85km from city center on a main highway. Drop Off then pick up at a later date .

Appreciate quick responses . Extensive Web search just gives same Europcar recommend which is expensive and inconvenient. Tried a lot of alternatives from web but to no avail.

  2. Hi ,

I'm selling my house in Ca [in my name, bought paid for before marriage here]. RE agent is telling me that my wife needs to sign a quitclaim [even though under both sets of laws she has no claim]. This isn't an issue for us. Question I have is that since this needs to be notarized at US embassy , has anyone else done this there and were there any problems at embassy... Appreciate anyone's advice ?

(Please note that the only issue i'm concerned with is US Embassy notarizing the doc, we have no issue on signing it ,even though its totally redundant)

  3. PLEASE READ:

    My Circumstances :

    Visa : Non Immigrant B

    Passport : USA

Renewed Passport because less than 6 months left on it.

    *******************************

I received my New passport from US embassy yesterday together with a letter to Thai Immigration requesting transfer of visa etc.

On advice here and others, I then went this morning to Immigration [a loong way ! ] where I had to fill out an application at information as well as provide photocopies of old and new passport together with photocopy of visa page and deoarture firm attached to passport.

I then took a number and quickly got called. I then sat with an immigration officer :

Who kindly told me this was un-necessary [i.e. gave me back forms n copies] and I just needed to show my old passport with Visa and entry/exit stamps when entering and exiting country from now until my current visa expired and I got a new one in my new passport

I'm not sure whether this applies across the board or not but if it saves you a journey it's worth it.

Not sure when this changed so no fault to posters above trying to help.

    Regards,

    N

Believe you will need photo copies for data page both and visa/entry/extension and likely departure card. No charge for transfer of entry. You fill out a short form in office.

  4. Hi,

The Apple Reseller in Fortune [on 2/3rd floor at back , I think its called istudio] has real Apple Gear [Just bought an Apple brand Displayport to VGA adaptor there] for ok prices [1000BHt]. Apple stuff is very expensive but you have to pay for quality. Alternatively , You can go to the Apple Store online and check out all the options there [ http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/iphone_accessories/power ] . Once you see something you like you can shop around a legit store here in Bangkok [Powermall etc.... ] to buy it local. Problem with buying generic Apple gear [= Chinese made generic] is that it often interferes with your iphone (and can even fry) and Apple pops a message to you on the phone warning you its not compatible. The message is hard to get rid off once it starts.

True also should have this accessory at their stores [ http://www.truemove.com/iphone/en/support.html ] although I'm not 100%.

    Rgds,

I have a B Visa valid til Jan 2012, stamped on my passport. However, my passport (USA) expires September 2011 so I want to get a new passport now .

How do I transfer my Thailand B visa to the new passport ?

Or do I carry the two passports around til Jan 2012 ?

Any insight in to procedure or where to get information would be greatly appreciated,

I searched site but was unsuccessful in finding info.

  7. All,

If you note my post , it's really for Premiership fans wanting to watch live commentary (regardless of bad spelling that i can't edit out ). Have had good times at the Office , food and atmosphere very good in the past. It's a note to others watching premiership football who want the crowd like atmosphere in the central bar. Bob did offer upstairs but as its away from main bar really more of a "stay at home' type option for a crowd of lads. I understand that every Bar owner has to deal with conflicting customers and that's their call. This isn't a rant at The Office just an fyi to others who follow the EPL .

I haven' tried the crossbar , will give it a go sometime

  8. For all premiership fans,

Had a disappointing experience on Sunday when went to the Office on Soi 33 to watch Liverpool Man U game. Couldn't believe they did not put commentary on in the bar. Especially since most customers [if not all] were watching game.

As this is one of the biggest games of the season in Premiership it was really dissappointing and we left after one drink and went to Penalty Spot. I've been to officee often when AFL/Rugby/Formula one which always has barwide live commentary so was expecting same for Premiership, it was an early kick-off too [7.30pm] ?????? weird !

Just thought I'd post for Premiership fans in case u were planning a footie night there, it's not to be recommended for viewing barclays., we missed 10 minutes of action as we scrambled to next bar

  9. A Bit Late but Soi 8 Bar on Sukhumvit , Soi 8 had it.

Just saw it last night and if you want to see I'm sure Mick the manager will put on on one of smaller Flat Screens for you

Good for future reference as i don't think many Irish Bars here have the GAA

    N

    http://www.soi8.net/

Quite a few of the ''Real'' Irish bars are showing it, however most of the ''Fake'' Irish themed bars are not. You will need to check out your area. If there is an Irish manager, he may be able to tell you where to go.

The service is available via Setanta - i via Australia. However, you need to be in an area of Thailand that has a strong internet bandwidth performance. Bangkok and Pattaya should not be a problem. Same srevice is also available in China and Vietnam.

Some bars have slingbox arrangements for different sports in different countries.

  10. To Close Out Thread:

Although our house is directly beside a current Charoen Hotel Install, after many many calls to their office we were unable to get them to quote us for install ........ A frustrating experience but funny in a way as have never dealt with a company less willing to make money with its new customers ...

    N

250 baht per month ,installation can't remember ,but around 600 baht.

    80 channels perfect pictures.

    World Cup in English

Isn't available to everyone it depends where you live

The channels sometimes change is only drawback but it's a real bargain.

    Zoom3

Does it still have Astro Sports? Does it show the English premiership?
