  1. I've got my Kasikorn bank in another province so looking to open some other in Lampang - entered the country 6 days ago with Non-O so I still have some days left to transfer the money and have time for it to be seasoned before I need to apply for the yearly extension, right? (Visa for looking after my Thai kid) With kasikorn not being an option, what could be the second best? Krungsri, Krungthai? When I get my certificate of residency from immigration for opening a bank account, do I need to tell them which bank or can I just do it and then try multiple banks if I get trouble from the first one?
  2. Does HCMC Embassy want the documents (like birth certificate) as signed copies, or the original ones, or both? I've seen both being asked and their pages don't have any clarification
  3. Sorry, I have to cancel that promise, based on the reports on the problems exiting the country on Nong Khai border I reserved a ticket to Vietnam instead
  4. Quick question - if I were to stay in Da Nang, I could get the visa "remotely" from Saigon Embassy, right?
  5. I'm seeing a bunch of reports online of different people getting refused trying to EXIT the country yesterday on Nong Khai border and told to fly out. Even with existing Non-O visas..
  6. Btw for the documentation (like birth certificate, ID card, etc), scanned signed copies of the originals should be good, that's apparently what they want? Does it matter if they're color / black and white And the visa fee is 2k for single entry non-o?
  7. Did you get to pay a day after you left the application? I'm gonna leave the application quite early Wednesday and hopefully pay Thursday, do you think that timing should likely work?
  8. I guess so, doesn't sound like too much of an hassle based on what transam said
  9. I should leave the application on Wednesday morning, which I think means I'd pay on Thursday in Vientiane.. Unless plans change..
  10. Huh? Do you get appointment after leaving the application? I remember they used to have the appointment system before that you could reserve from Thailand, but didn't notice that anymore on their site.
  11. In this thread they seem quite convinced the money is needed for three months in the bank. I've got my ticket to Vientiane already, now starting to think should (or could) I change to somewhere else? edit: though the eVisa application just says "Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter)", which sounds like current balance. Also I'm guessing random smaller transfers totaling over 40k a month doesn't help?
  12. Any recent experiences from Vientiane? Are there any ways to speed it up? Kinda tough spending weeks outside as a single parent..
  13. All right, great if the online statement is enough. I don't really have a western bank I could hold funds in, just Wise and Revolut, so I'd pretty much have to use Kasikorn for the proof.
  14. What ways can I use to prove the funds in a Thai bank in embassies? I think there's a chance my account would get locked if I were to go to kasikorn without the Non-Imm visa, but also I'd probably need to go to the bank to get statements? Just print out some monthly statements, or go there and try to get them before they lock the account? At least the first option would keep the app usable in case they'd want to see that in the embassy
  15. I tried finding a recent answer, but couldn't and thought there's probably many of us asking the same question today. If I'm going to get a Non-O family visa because of a dependent (child), what kind of seasoning times do different embassies around Thailand need for the 400k? Hanoi listed three months on their web page, but some others have just "bank statements" with no extra information.
  16. So I guess I got wrong information and just trusted it for some reason.. pffft thanks. Sorry for taking over the thread. What a waste of time and money these visaruns and constant extensions have been..
  17. I know I can get the visa but I thought the one year extension required guardianship? A hundred wasted visaruns if I'm wrong...
  18. Just checking to make sure, I'm correct it's not possible to get a one year extension based on child if I'm not the guardian, right? Even if in actuality I'm the one taking care of her and officially her father..
  19. Would that mean extensions on 60d entry stamps or also older 30 day stamps? And how about 60 day family extensions? Somehow I guessed that the "relaxation" of rules was just gonna make it much more annoying and random..
  20. Is there a reason why people seem to be going to Chiang Khong even though apparently Chiang Saen is only one night and a little closer to Chiang Rai?
  21. If that's your history and you have 20k cash to show there's 0% chance you'll be sent anywhere unless you decide to defecate on the Immigration desk.
  22. So it's pretty much confirmed that I'm probably not gonna have trouble crossing the border for third time this year, right? Has anyone tried the Chiang Khong border in such situation? Are the extensions still same - so I should be able to get extra 30+60 by getting the standard extension, followed by Family Extension?
