and it's perfectly reasonable. Thai society exists to make Thai people happy, not foreigners.

and foreigners will whine a bit and accept it. and those who can't afford 400 baht fee - who in Thailand needs them? anyway they are not going to spend significant amount of money -just cheap beer, cheap guesthouse and a cheap whore.

Tourist business exists to make money, not to make foreigners happy. it's not charity.

so you think it is fully justified to charge a holidaying family of four (father, mother, son & daughter) four times 1600 Baht park fee, along with the longtail boat price for the 4 islands trip of 1200 THB per person ?  No wonder they will think twice before allowing 6400 THB being pulled out of their noses for a half days trip

It's not only the park fees . . the longtail boat operators are demanding absolutely ridiculous prices for these trips

this story is about greed meeting more greed, enough said

  2. there is an officially acknowledged translation service center  some 200 meters left of the Amphoe building of Kantharalak.

I have used their service when I applied for a yellow housebook four weeks ago.

The office & the school is lead by an elderly thai principal whose command of english is excellent.  I also have seen a few foreigner gathered at this place who I assume are English teachers at Thai schools and in private.

I do not have any adress or phone number but I think if you show up there once you have arrived - Kantharalaks best hotel & accomodation is only a 2 minute walk away - they will be able to help you

  3. i am trying to imagine how much he is paying for management fee alone for a 300 sqm empty penthouse apartment.

I'd be rather handing it to an agent and try to secure at least half of the purchase price back, before the premises get to old and start to crumble into pieces.

Maybe I am wrong and there's an "oversupply" of luxury condo buyers?

Okay so no more chains around the necks of tourists. And then the thieves will start to snatch the bags of the ladies. are these ladies then also stupid for walking around with their bags outside?or would it make more sense finaly arresting all the chain and bag snatchers?

to catch them u need fake tourists with fake chain walking the streets..

it strongly depends WHAT amount of value inside your bag you are willing to walking around.  And of course inside a cheap, not luxury bag.

IF they are smart enough!  If not, yes then they are stupid.

I strongly suggest not to carry lots of money,  two or even three expensive phones, credit cards and an original Rolex watch inside your bag.  Just let the thieves cooly snatch your lipstick, the Kleenex and some mace gas!

l actually bought some of the lotion & brought it back to Australia.

l gave it to a friend's daughter, who was an Industrial Chemist.

She analysed it in her Lab & told me that it had Hydrachloric Acid amongst its ingredients.

    Silly girls,

and many thai women actually wonder about the red rashes and the pimples in their faces ??

Then go and hurry to buy even more of those shitty dangerous creams ?

Let them suffer . . . i have no pity for them . . . . they not having a lot of brain, at least you can see on the first look. It is only sad, though, that the HiSo have the money to buy the proper (western) expensive products, and the poor rice farmers daughters buy all the cheap but dangerous mixtures

  6. why do so many Thai women have terrible pimples on their cheeks ?  Does it connect to the overuse of whitening creams?

Isn't the cheek full of pimples the most conveniently creamed spot on the body where Thai women apply all those face creams?

Do all these cheap & partially toxic creams boost the growth of pimples?

Or does the heavy sugar intake of some Thais play into it?

It was in Lyon. Second and only choice is the embassy in Paris, but it seems like the directives flow down from Paris to Lyon so I would expect the same answer.

Flying straight to Penang would not be my favorite option because my flight to Bkk is already booked.

So according to your posts so far I understand I'd better fly out after ~29 days, try to get a visa, and if declined go back with another 30 days (+ 30 days extension). Right ?

Is Penang the most obvious destination ? should I stay 2 or 3 nights there or is it ok to just go in/out ?

correct!  This is the best and most convenient way to do it.  Penang from out of Ko Samui, nearest destination.  Yes and why not stay two nights or three?  It's got a beachlife, too

  8. not globally recognized, so why should it apply in Thailand?

Many people believe that if you find an abandoned boat it automatically belongs to you, But in fact the law isn't that simple.

    Hi, I have a Non-Immigrant O visa, single-entry, based on volunteering.

My Non O visa expiry date says 24 Jan 2017.

My stamp from Chiang Mai Airport upon entry says "Admitted until 31 Jan 2017" (I landed/entered on 3 Nov 2016)

    1) Is it possible to get an extension on this type of non-imm O visa?

    2) If an extension is not possible, do I have until the 24th or 31st to leave the country?

    3) Can I make a land border crossing at Mae Sai and go into Burma for the day and receive a 30 day visa exempt stamp (that is extendable by 30 days at the end if I so wish?) Or is flight in/out the preferred option?

Thank you in advance for any insights.

    D

    1)  No, as your Visa is already "used"

    2)  You are allowed to stay until the 31st

    3)  You can get a Visa Exempt entry for 30 days, but be prepared to show 20,000 THB in cash at a land border. You also MAY BE questioned to show a proof of onward travel within the 60 days . . .

I I gave her a gift of an expensive, genuine hand-painted boomerang (costing about 5,000 Baht) that I'd picked up in Australia.

Did you really expect her to see any value in a piece of wooden stick engraved with a few scribbly paintings, she cannot decipher?

You can buy wooden OTOP stuff like this in Eesarn for 80 Baht

Oh god yes this is a great point and I can't believe I forgot it.

My wife always goes to the temple to make merit and comes back with a backpack full of food.  They have no issue coming into your yard and picking your bananas, mangos etc..everyone does it to everyone else.  Actually I quite like their concept of sharing everything in the small villages.  One of the students rocked up to our house on Saturday with a big bag of vegetables for us.

you are right . . . it is as if socialism/communitarism has entered these people's lives. My motorcycle is open to being borrowed by whoever needs it, and regarding the bananas in the garden, I have never had a chance to eat any of these in 8 years

  12. now if a robber came across me, showed a knife and asked for my bag and iPhone,  i would probabyl hand it over, as I don't carry a knife and would want to live happily ever after.

The victim was a rich guy from rich parenthood.  It never crossed his mind it would be better to hand over that stupid phone to the thief, than die from his hands.

Along the struggle which, according to the video, took some time(!) he had a fair chance to get out alive.

The Killer said it: If this guy didn't fight over his stupid phone so much, he would still be alive.  (sic!)

So, along the bloodlines, somebody was acting like a fool when someone else acted like a villain, and you need some brain to survive the encounter of the two of them.

WHY , just WHY did he nor just let go of that stupid phone???  Was it GLUED onto his hands?

Yes I supplied the copies of the  landlords Tabien Baan and ID card with the TM30 form as well as her copy of her ID card - signed.

yes you did, but appararently 1 year too late!  You have already quoted this in your post No. 6.

From the very beginning when you first got issued a stay permit,  there should have been a paper containing your reported adress clipped into your passport. Was there ?

The method of the agent was very dubious from the very beginning,  because you normally do not receive a Non Imm-O Visa for retirement purpose in a neighboring country nor from an agent inside Thailand, but only from a honorary consulate or the embassy of Thailand in your home country, together with a police clearance and a medical certificate.
