Is that an accurate statement that you can't submit a ring-binder?
Just doing the forms for my wife's sister to apply for a visitors visa....
-
Remind yourself of your wife's first visit visa.
Reason to return, appropriate accommodation and space to house your visitor and evidence of sufficient funds to absorb cost of six-week holiday and flights.
Thanks for your response. However I am really looking for some guidance on my specific questions.

Hi all
Not been here for a while, but was a few years ago getting excellent help with my wife's successful visitor visa and subsequent ILR.
Now looking to get a visitor visa for my wife's little sister, who has just turned 18; hopefully she'll be over for a 6 week holiday. Couple of questions I'm hoping for help with........
Reason to return to Thailand......shes on college hols for 2 months from March. Do you reckon a letter from her college stating this is sufficient?
Sponsor........guessing I can put myself down: I earn more than the wife!
Proof or relationship.......presumably still relevant? Will documented proof of her being related to my wife and a selection of photos of us all do the job?
Thought, comments and suggestions welcome.

A great way to start the weekend.....letter from UKBA this morning confirming we've got the ILR.
So excited and happy; off to buy some champagne.
They don't make that letter to clear though do they? A straightforward 'you got it' would be far nicer than the waffly crap they write. Can't complain too much though.

Happy New Year chaps.
A few familiar names here from the UK Settlement waiting times thread of a couple of years ago. Hope life is treating you all well.
Posted our ILR application on 21 Dec (3 weeks later than planned - we were in Thailand for most of December). No response of any kind yet.
Good luck all.
Start of this week we got the letter confirming our application is underway, and the money has gone out of the bank.
Now, I wonder if we'll get passports back in time for our planned April trip.....?

The wife is in the uk on a settlement: we've still got a while before we do the tests etc for ILR.
Planning to take my mum to New York for a birthday treat and obviously want to take my wife. How can we do this? Is it possible? What visa do we need to get?
-
Thanks.
That'll give us something to get busy with!
-
Hope this is the right place for this question.....
My wife is here in the UK, 1 year into her 27 month settlement visa.
She speaks great English, but the reading and writing needs work. To complement the lessons she is having I wanted to find a computer based English language course, aimed at Thais.
Any advice?
Clearly everywhere I look here gives me Thai courses for English people - which is the opposite of what I need!
-
Yep, that's where your wife need's to go for the Police check.
My gf went to Special Branch a week ago (I posted here about it). The gf needed a copy of my passport and an "invite letter from me". Takes about 15 days ...no "Express" service

I would get your marriage certificate translated , for what it cost it will save you a lot of trouble , like when you open a bank account for her, also when you have to prove you are married. Not many people outside Thailand can read Thai.
Sounds like good advice.
Will sort it when I go over.
I am guessing it is the same process as doing the Affirmation of Marriage? i.e: translate, get the translation certified at MFA?
Do I need to get the translation certified? Can't seen anything about this on the web. Do I simply get a translation at any random bureau?
Anyone?
Do I need to get the translation certified?

And the answer is.........YES!!!
Get in; 'ave that; over the moon; fandabbydoubledosy; the boy's done well; they've played a blinder.
And to top it all off I have got the wife a seat on the same flight as me coming back to England on 29th December. Fantastic stuff.
Now the big decision.....do I go out for a run in the cold, or head off to the pub to contemplate the good news?
Thanks to the contributors of this thread, and good luck to those still waiting!

A couple of loose ends I need to tie up in the hopeful anticipation of getting the visa next week......
The missus may look for jobs in the NHS when she comes over. A friend told me that getting the Thai equivalent of a CRB check might be a good idea: Is it worth doing? And is
THIS what we need?
Second - is it worth getting the marriage certificate translated into English? I've been told a translation is useful to have alongside the visa, and can help in avoiding any difficulties at customs.
Any advice?
-
Here we go...........
The missus got a text and email this morning:
Dear XXXXX,
Your Visa application reference number:AXXXXX has been processed by the British Embassy
and is received at the UK Visa Application Centre.
Please note this is an auto generated e-mail. Please do NOT reply to this email.
Regards,
Visa Application Centre
She has not had a call from them or anything: goo thing or not?
Excited/nervous now.
Presumably very soon there will be an invitation to collect.
Suhari, that is your invitation to go collect.
Go go go and good luck !!!!
You sure?
I am pretty certain that when we did the visitors visa last year we got 3 texts in total: 1 saying it had gone to the embassy; another saying it had come back; and another saying come and collect. The missus recollects it this way too.......
If you ae certain this is an invite, then hel_l yea, she is off to BKK next week! Plan was to wait for the next text though.
Well, I have got over my 'blonde moment' and checked the online status of the application, and it is indeed ready to collect. So hi-ho-hi-ho, its off to BKK she goes.
Still confused as to why we got 3 texts/emails before, but not this time. Although this really doesn't matter at all!
-
Well the waiting times are tumbling down now
12 weeks at their worst and now down to just over 4 weeks.
Good luck Suhari, I hope you get the right result
Welcome to the list RAZZELL.
Good luck all.

Waiting times are a-tumbling.
QuickRick - I reckon you will be less than 4 weeks.
Good luck RAZZELL.

Wow, those waiting times have come down. Looking like 5-6 weeks, which means we might get news before I head out.
Have been feeling relatively relaxed over things, but starting to get twitchy now. All I want or Christmas is my missus here..........!
-
Congratulations! At this rate this board will be closed by the end of the month.
Let's hope so.
My birthday today; booked a flight to go out for Christmas - we're hoping there will be 2 of us on the flight back.
-
Congratulations! (And a little bit of jealously!!!
).
I hate that they give you that vague message about the application being ready to collect. Happened to us with the visitor visa. Horrible trip back to BKK not knowing!
Here's hoping some of the other listees get the same message soon though.

Welcome to the list Suhari
Many thanks.
Glad to be on there; but hope I dont stay too long.
1 week down; ?? to go.

Got the same problem. Application documents all done; payment made - no appointment showing up, and unable to create one on the system.
Better give them a call I guess...
