Well, it took a little longer than I hoped to finalise everything and get the paperwork over to Thailand, but my wife dropped in the application on Wednesday 27 October.
3 hours after dropping in the paperwork we got a a text saying the application had been passed to the Embassy.
Heard a story earlier on about a guy who only had to wait 10 days for a successful outcome. Here's hoping.
Good luck to those still waiting.

First of all Congratulations to Jasonr3225 and lonnie41, to get a good result after all that waiting is a real relief.... I know !!
Well I arrived back in the UK at 7am this morning with the family in tow, here starts a new adventure for us all. Wife and stepson are sleeping right now I am trying to resist the temptation to do the same, it is a tiresome journey.
Hang in there folks, the wait may be long but the result can be worth it.

UKBA have posted the August figures, here's a snapshot of the last three months, sorry it's a picture but I don't know how else I can sensibly format the table.
Wow, some long waiting times there. All the best to those in limbo; think I will be with you soon.
Tonight, after too long a wait, I will do the application for my beautiful wife.

My thai gf and I will shortly be tying the knot, and applying for a settlement visa. Exciting stuff!
If we get a TB certificate in her maiden name, and then her passport etc. changed to her married name, will the TB certificate still be accepted as part of the application (which will obviously be in her new name). I assume yes, if we include a cover letter, but thought it best to check.

Morning
My Thai g/f and I will be getting married in Thailand during my next visit: hopefully inside the next 2 months. We will then apply for a settlement visa to the UK. I am fairly happy with the application itself: we got a 6 month visitor visa last year without any problems.
I have 2 questions for those in the know however.......
How much time should I allow from marriage, through to changing names on documents, getting the TB test, dropping in the application, and waiting for the answer? I recall someone posted a timeline/project plan on this a year or so back, but cannot find it. In short, if I come for a month, is that long enough?
I was made redundant a month ago, and will be coming out to 'do the deed' once I secure a new job, but prior to starting work. My intention is to include my old contract of employment, payslips etc and my new contract of employment as part of the application pack. Any view on how this will sit with the powers that be? i.e. would they view this as okay re: proof of maintenance?
Cheers

Many thanks for your helpful replies.
Somehow I was not aware of the 6 months in 12 rule. Guess I was too busy worrying about the origianl application to spot this!
Challenges eh?
I will look into a fiancee visa.

Hi - hope you can help.
My Thai GF has been in the UK since end of July, on a 6 month tourist visa (expires January). Original plan was for a 3 month visit, but the plan now is to stay until I go out for Christmas.
She wants to come back early next year, but we are not sure how soon we can reapply after the expiry of this visa. Any advice on this?
Will the fact we asked for 5 weeks on our application, but are likely to use most of the 6 months, go against us when we reapply?
Thanks in advance.

We went last year (sadly unlikely to go this year - unless incredibly lucky with Visa app).
Got there about 2:30 and it was in full swing - and had been for a while; I got the impression it kicked off a lot earlier. VERY busy though.
