  1. This turn on the way down the hill going north from Wang Nam Khiao on 304 have always been an accident spot. They recently closed that lane and put new black top but did nothing with the completely wrong swing dosage in this turn. When you coming down one of the steepest sections into a sharp left turn, the road surface is higher on the inside of the turn then outside, making the swing dosage completely wrong. Large vehicles have to go very slow to make this turn. The concrete barrier dividing the up and down traffic lanes have to be repaired at least every month on this spot from idiots going to fast and hitting the barrier.  A huge engineering mistake that will keep claiming lives.

  2. I have a Merida Speeder and have done more then 9000km, my friend have done 20000km+ on his speeder. Very comfortable using 32mm tires, with room for bigger if you want and we are super happy with the bike.  Fast enough to go for a 30km+ avg long road ride, comfy to do off road and gravel rides, great city and all round bike. This one is 20k.

  3. A couple of large paving slabs in the back will provide some relief by preloading the springs a bit and are mostly unobrusive but there is no getting away from the fact that pickups have leaf springs, just like horse drawn wagons.......

The new model Vigo will have a much better ride apparently. The VW Amorak is very good apparently and you can spec a lighter suspension package in the back down from the one tonne carrying capacity of standard. Maybe that is the go for these pickups here! Who ever needs to carry a tonne around? In effect, doing the opposite of the beefed up heavy transport versions you always see in ditches smashed on the side of the road.

Don't forget, the brakes are also quite marginal on these things as well.

How are the brakes marginal on a newish truck - disc front, drum rear, abs, ebd etc etc?

Had a 2005 Vigo, the brakes were terrible. Small front discs drum rear on a large pickup. Don't think they have upped the size or put discs on the rear since then? My subaru xv has larger front discs than that Vigo.

put 340mm prado brakes, makes a big difference...

Is it possible to tune a diesel so it does not billow out black smoke? Seen this many times on street pickups. Are all fast pickups chucking out black smoke under acceleration?

they use injectors with 6 or 8 holes in stead of the standard 4 hole injectors to get more diesel in...more power, but a lot of smoke

  5. Thankfully Pattaya does not seem to have a landfill problem. The prefered method seems to be to throw rubbish onto nearby unbuilt land. Eventually it decomposes in a very natural way.

[there are landfills in pattaya too, I have seen it.../quote]
