  1. Strange thing is that Thais returning are exempt from the insurance and can just go home. I expect that TAT and the hotels assume that on November the first and every day after that the skies will darken with aircraft flying tourists in, when it does not darken and reality sets in its just a slim possibility that someone might notice that the tourists did not turn up and everyone is in deep poo as more businesses hit the fan, they sure now how to cook the golden goose. The good old days are not coming back, just too many hoops to jump through and more welcoming places in the world beckon. People with vision should have seen it coming.
  2. Does anyone have any idea what the cost of this covid insurance to re enter is? I suspect that there are lot people like me who want to travel to the home country to visit friends and relatives but are not sure they will be able to re enter Thailand. From what I see today, if confirmed, we would need to provide World Health Authority approved vaccinations confirmation and we have had that done in Thailand that should not be a problem, then a PCR test in the home country within 72 hours of flying back ( cost ?) and have covid-19 cover for 50k$, so does anyone have any idea what the cost of this insurance is for say over 70's?
  3. Are you required to show your passport going to the island, have seen this on youtube?
  4. It will be years before there are sufficient charging points across the country and the population want to change to electric traction, I see no electric machines on offer, lets talk again in 10 years time.
  5. The biggest problem to solve here is this, was the RTP ever a service to the country or has it always been a business? The military is the same its a business that's why there are so many, ( about 1400 ) at the rank of General, Admiral or Air Marshall. I would have no idea how it could be curtailed if there was a will to do so, those who chose it as a career path certainly wont, its so engrained in the culture and way of life it would take a monumental effort from someone not involved to cause a change and it would fought all the way.
  6. I am told that eating tinned rice pudding ( preferably Waitrose own brand ) is almost as good as some vaccines, also seen 30 pills for 350bts made from some local lead that looked like a nettle which the merchantess informed me that this would prevent me getting covid, then we all had a good laugh and I decided to keep my 350 bts but it was a close call.
  7. I suspect the mix and match has more to do with price and availability than anything else. I was told I was getting AZ first but when I turned up it was Sinovac to be followed 3 weeks later by AZ. I wonder who had my AZ jab?
  8. You are right we need to learn to live with this and get on with our lives, you cannot buy time.
  9. I noticed on the last visit to MK that the quality of the meat had gone down and got smaller but the price had gone up so they are off the list now. The difficulty here is that although merchants want to put the prices up there are a lot people, not us expats, who are struggling and have little or no money to spend unless you work for the authorities in some way so I think apart from seasonal price changes prices will be kept down, if someone wants to charge more than I think id fair to pay then I walk away.
  10. I have found that Declogen tablets free available in pharmacies work for me very well, they pronounce is "diclogen". Not expensive and worth a go.
