Seriously.

I think you need to step away from the Internet.

^but what about hamsters in wheels?
I reckon 25 hamsters on separate wheels should generate enough power to run the pump that will feed the sprinklers to cool the roof.
imagine what an army of hamster could do.
Take over the world.same as we do every night PInky.

Double post

Yes it true. Look at elephant camps and the likes. They have water sprinklers on Their roofs to cool them down.

chicken farmers in thailand use large gabion walls filled with coconut husk which is soaked in water and then either sucked or blown onto the chooks using large fans.

Splitlid I'm sure is joking and you Naam have enjoyed it with the laughing icon. Good on ya. It actually is a credit to the whole mob that by page 33 now after George started it rolling, that speaks volumes how it is really not boring as splitlid jokes. This thread is sooooooo painful. Please stop.
We've all learnt to remain "gentlemen" with Naam leading the way, and sooo much about Georges question "living off grid with small solar systems". This would have to be a TVN record? well done guys.
it's not the thread which is painful Joe but individual baseless assumptions when it pertains to "cooling".
by the way, my wife claims i was a gentleman... many rainy seasons ago
How about car radiators?
Shirley an option to look into George.

Maybe. A little, and that is a real little. But doing so would be more trouble than it's worth. Keeping it clean would be huge issue. And then waterproofing.
Keeping the sun off the walls would work best.

No more nails is not really good for exterior use. Sikaflex is the best you can get here.

wind towers are used in hot, dry arid climates (hence the qanat reference in the dwg) and are not suited for humid climates.

Below is one of four of the kitchens that were included in the construction bid of less than 9000 baht a sq meter
You can buy a nice toilet for 2000 baht (see photo above) or you can pay up to 15,000 baht ....which you can get but the question is WHY? when you can get a similarly good looking product for 1/7 the price.
That mogen toilet, cost approx. 6000 baht, where did you pick it up from for 2k?

those white telecom containers you see here(usually next to a tower), are insulated the exact same way. Hi density sandwich panels.
They are made here.
However, every container you see will be air-conditioned, ok the equipment inside is producing a lot of heat and needs to be cooled.
but, believe me with no equipment installed, and the a/c off, it is as hot as outside, inside.

kinda reminds me of these.

internally we have specified http://www.siamgypsum.com/en/component/flippingbook/book/65-products-of-siam-gypsum-2010/11-all-gypsum-products.html?Itemid=214 for the wall framing.
structural steel members are I beams/u beams
other areas are 100mm c channel steel.
-
We have just completed the design of a 600sqm steel framed house, with mezzanine floor in the main lounge area.
our normal engineer could not do the structural work so we had to hire another one at extra cost for the design, it also took a long time for our architect to get his head around the concept.
now getting a company interested in tendering on the project is seemingly impossible, of the 10 companies we contacted only 3 are interested in the work.
so as said before, anything out of the norm will be costly and must be supervised by someone who knows what they are doing.
