  1. I re-entered with a re-entry permit just a little less than 3 months ago. Just tried the new online 90 day reporting system and was rejected for the reason below.

The online service do not support if is a first time of 90 days notification.

I don't know if they mean first time reporting with the new online system or or first time reporting since I re-entered, but I'll be heading to the immigration office for an in-person notification. Hope it will work next time.

  2. Hi, there. I'm in Bangkok for a while and need to do my 90-days. The online system appears to be down.

(Did it online for years without any issue.)
Where do I need to go to get COVID?
The 90 days online forms says: Immigration Division 1 Office, Chalermprakiat Government Complex, Chaengwattana Rd., Laksi, Bangkok.
The immigration website says: Thai Immigration  T89/24 Popular Rd, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi 11120.
    Thanks!

  3. On 2014-10-10 I went there to transfer everything to a new passport. I arrived at 05:35. There were about 20 persons lined up already. There are in reality 5 lines. You line up in the one appropriate to you (there are semi-comprehensible placards at the front of each line indicating what they are for). The lines are: 001, Tourist, Reentry; 201: Teacher, Medical, Education, Researcher, Missionary; 301: New passport transfer; Investment; Change A-O visa; Endorsement non-quota; 401: Business, Thai family member, Volunteer; 501: 90-day Report. (Sorry if these are unclear. That's the way they were written).

By 07:00 there were about 5 persons in Line 001; 100+ persons in Line 201; ~12 persons in Line 301; ~10 persons in Line 401; and ~3 persons in Line 501. At 07:00 is when the action starts: they give each person a provisional number that enables them to queue for their working number. Between 07:00 and 08:30 they pass out the real numbers based on your place in the earlier queue. Presumably people who exceed the number they can't handle that day are sent home.

In answer to your question: I have no clue as to what line you would be in. Except for Line 201, I would show up at 06:00. If Line 201, I would guess 05:00.

Thanks for the info! I have been there 2 days in a row and that is exactly what the lines, and persons-to-line ratio, have been.

... and, depending whether you want to be out in the morning or afternoon, show up in between 4 and 6.30 am

  4. I understand Monday and Friday are the busiest days, so hopefully tomorrow won't be too busy.

I'd be in line 401 (business) so based on these numbers, I'd have to be there around 7.00 to make it queue 10 (which I guess would be in the afternoon). Probably go at 6.00 to make it earlier.

    Thanks for your detailed answer.

  5. Hi,

I have a work permit and got a non imm. B at Vientiane 3 months ago.

So it is now time to apply for a extention-of-stay for the remaining of the year. But I am also looking at other options.

I was wondering if I can get a non-imm B multiple entries (for 1 year) at Penang? Could I get another non-B at Vientiane?

By the way for some resaons Vientiane stamped a "the applicant is advised to apply for work permit etc" above the visa in my passport, whereas I showed it to them when applying for the visa. They may do this automatically regardless, and this may be irrelevant but I am also wondering if that would affect my applying for a new non-B or not.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Just an update regarding my previous questions.

Regarding the work permit cancellation, the officer did not look at the letter of resignation. The guy just issued me with a signed and stamped photocopy of the cancellation form (no tor thor 10).

Regarding the extension of stay cancellation, immigration requested the letter of resignation, the labor office receipt as well as a copy of the company registration plus phor ngor dor 91 for all employees. The lady then issued me with a 7-days extension of stay.

Regarding the new work permit, it was issued in Chiang Mai in 3 working days.

Regarding the new 1-year extension of stay. I showed up on the last day of my 7-days extension of stay (today) and was refused the extension. I was told that the last day is when one should leave and that I should now go get a new non-immigrant B and then apply for the extension.

So now off in a hurry to Vientiane....

  7. Well I have actually an additional question. I have always cancelled my work permit before the extension of stay. Now I read on the cancellation form the following:

" Work permit cancellation can be done after a holder resigned from a job or an employer laid off a holder. And that is not limited time for cancellation. "

So can the work permit can indeed be cancelled after the extension of stay?

  8. I think 7 days will be a bit tight to get the work permit done.

Vientiane would be good for the non-b but you will need a letter of approval for the work permit application to get it,

Yes I was just reading about this. I think we'll have enough time to apply and get the WP3 Work Permit application.

Just in case, do other consulate request that letter of approval too?

As you are already in Thailand your should use form WP1 (attached below) to apply for your new Work Permit.

Your new employer can start this process now.

As to how long will it take, as has been posted it can take anything from 7 days to 7 months, but hopefully not more than a month if everything is straightforward..

Depending on who your employer is, plus if they can get the Work Permit papers filed correctly this week along with all the paperwork compiled ready for a new extension, then Immigration may accept the WP1 Filing Receipt in lieu of the new WP and look at directly issuing a 2.1 Extension to follow on from your current extension, that is assuming that your current employer is co-operative and will hold off cancelling your existing WP for a few days whilst you try to sort out a new extension.

Difficult to achieve, but theoretically possible.

If you can't get a back to back extension then you need the Letter of Approval from labour to apply for a new 90 day Single Entry Non Immigrant 'B' visa at a Thai Consular facility, to close the circle for your new WP.

    Good Luck.

My current employer isn't too cooperative. My next employer is (I'm on the company board) and already has all the paperwork ready. The 2 companies are located in different provinces; I am not sure what did you mean by "2.1 Extension to follow on from your current extension," please advise.

..... Just to rephrase: I was just reading that the Letter of Approval can only be obtained once a WP3 Work Permit application has been successfully filed and a WP3 Receipt issued. So I think we will have enough time to get the Letter of Approval ready. If not I will just wait for it to be ready and posted to me in Vientiane.

Having said that, do you know if a WP3 Work Permit receipt would be accepted by the immigration?

Just in case, do other consulate request that letter of approval too?
