  1. I think many of you still not get it.

Farang is out and will not be back in soon,

No wonder, all the bad news about Covid comes from the west,

and I think it is also our own fault,  every time I go out  shopping I see the farangs with the mask down around the neck or no mask at all in the streets.

    Thais wearing masks,

so, try to find out why they have enough of us.......

A second camp wants to 'clean up Thailand's image' and also isn't particularly fond of farangs. This poll gives both incentive and ammunition to the second camp, who may see a more moral/less farang Thailand as a vote-getter.

If the second camp wins, it is conceivable that places like NEP, Soi Cowboy, plus Walking Street and Soi 6 in Pattaya go the way of the dodo bird. It is also conceivable that farangs will be less welcome, including those who think their retirement visas or Thai wives give them a right to stay in Thailand forever. If real xenophobia picks up steam, piggybacking off Covid fear, and becomes a voter preference, one could easily see all farangs asked to leave, including those with families, retirement visas or Elite Visas. I suspect leadership is looking to see which way the winds are blowing.

Some will say money always wins, and generally one can bank on that in Thailand. Certain folks do make decent dosh off farangs and the nightlife, but there is a camp within the current govt that is not friendly to farangs, nightlife or alcohol. Also, the fact that the govt was willing to throw into poverty a few million Thais whose income was dependent on foreign tourism and nightlife is proof that those citizens with minimal clout are given scant concern.

First: election was just a few months ago, nobody is campaigning for voters now.

Officially prostitution is prohibited in Thailand,

all governments had a blind eye on the nightlife places and that will be also in future like this.

No farang will be ask to leave as long all papers are in order.

..but it will need some time to get back to

    "normal"

and don't try to make everything look bad

That figure may be right but it is not only sex and beer bars. It is about pubs, clubs, hotels, resorts, tourist attractions, taxi's, beach vendors and on and on. Millions of Thai people are out of work and need tourism to survive.

Have a look at the European vacation places in Spain, Italy, Croatia and Greece. No tourist anywhere.

Millions worldwide are out of work especially in the tourist business and it will continue to be like this.

it will need several years to get back to a new normal.

... in case there is no vaccine soon, it will maybe will never go back to normal

I’ve seen plenty of locals not wearing face masks or wearing them around their throat or under their nose. We recently saw the ‘health minister’ eating lunch with 10+ people while not social distancing.

If you believe that it’s acceptable for a country to discriminate against people based on their ethnicity, I can only assume that you believe the same is acceptable in your own country. Anything less would be pure hypocrisy.

Thailand is my country after 30 years, but looking to Europe where I was born, the infected and dead number still high

but everybody wants to go on vacation to the beaches of Spain, Italy, Croatia Greece,

lets see how the case number look in autumn

Good  to see FLM, Farang Lives matter and then again Thai  Lives don't, of  course its total BS  from the temple , however I'll make sure I never visit that temple and let everyone else i know, not that it'll make any difference to their  coffers when the locals will no doubt  supply them with unlimited funding for their "worthhy causes" ie themselves.

This message has just been posted on Wat Pho Facebook page: “Due to restoration in progress on the Reclining Buddha & paintings inside the building [we are] not allowing access to non Thai nationals, it was decided that for the safety of tourists we would restrict access.” 1/2

it looks like you think every single Thai ist waiting for you.

In the near future there will be not so many farangs in Thailand around, because the farangs living of the western tourists will move on, no more business, bars will be closed for a long time. No Thai will buy from a farang real estate broker,  boiler rooms will be easier to control with less farang around.

I see here a refreshing beautiful future for Thailand

businesses here (mainly farang) in Pattaya/Phuket....I wonder why...shameful treatment by this junta towards the most vulnerable in its society

This farang businesses you talk about are in fact on the paper owned by Thai dummies, most businesses are not legal.

This government closes already on eye on this businesses,

    so don't push it...

  7. Hi Guys,

want to let you know about my trip to Laos recently for getting another 3 months visa stamp,

I have a Non-O multiple entry visa, needed to get out and in of Thailand,

Went with the 8:30 am flight with Air Asia to Nakhon Phanom (NP) for less than 1000 Baht, when enter the building at NP airport, you will see a desk “Taxi – Limousine Service", they offer a ride with a Van to the NP bus station for 100 Baht, Taxi’s will take 200 Baht,

at the bus station I bought a ticket to Thakhek for 70 Baht, the bus departed at 11:20, on that day I was the only foreigner on the bus,

at the Thai immigration to get the exit stamp was a matter of minutes, at the Lao immigration the bus just stopped opposite the counter “Visa on arrival”, they will give you the form to fill in, you need 1 photo and USD 35 to get the visa, in less than 10 minutes I had my entry stamp.

In Thakhek I waited about 45 minutes to get the bus (Ticket 70 Baht)  back to NP, at the border both, the Lao and Thai Immigration worked fast and efficient, I was back in NP at about 2:30 pm, couldn’t find a Van at the bus station, took a Taxi for 200 Baht to the airport.

This was my first visa run to Laos, everything went very smooth, in the evening I was back in Bangkok.

  8. it seems that police forget very quick,

more than 10 years ago two cases like that happen in Bangkok and were ruled as suicide,

    one American and one Swiss,

the Swiss hat his apartment door locked from inside, pulled a plastic bag over his head, taped it airtight,

slipped a longer line with a loop over his wrists on the back, stepped on the line, pulled his arms up so that the loop

closed, like this he made sure that he couldn't use his hands anymore to take off the plastic bag in case he changed his mind in the last moment,

the American was a similar case

  9. And then his problems started....... No working permit !!

    there will be no problem,

I worked many years in my wife's company, with my skills I could help her in the business without a work permit,

also no show of money for the one year visa, we needed to show business and tax papers

Are you sure about this?? I ask because my wife have small shop and I want to help her but I'm afraid of getting fined and deported.

very sure, I have done that for 8 years before I retired, it has to be that your skills helps to generate more income for the family business,

you have to go with your wife to the immigration and clear that before you start to do something
