For bamboo, I have used a pair of lopping shears ,you can get ratchet ones ,I have used the in the UK ,they can go through some big stuff .

Interesting - thank you for the idea - but I have hundreds of bamboo to cut and lots of bushes and longan tree trimming.

A friend of mine just told me "Electric ones are nice and light but like a toy not taht useful..."

I am now looking for a gas one that is around 11 inches so I won't need a license.

I use a Eurox eu740 electric chainsaw with a honda 1 kva generator so everything nice and quiet, portable,

Only a 11.5 inch bar but cuts well as long as you don't push it and let the chain do the work.

Had a problem with a faulty wiring connection internally on the saw but once i fixed it hasn't missed a beat.

Fil has been using it last two days solid getting his charcoal wood organized.

The chainsaw was 1700 baht from one of the bigger hardware shops.(may sing? with a green sign)

The generator i already had for power outs at home.

In hindsight if i were to buy a set up for your purpose i would go up in size of saw and genset.

I already had the genset so sized saw accordingly.

    Thank you!

Get a decent battery operated chainsaw.

Google for you tube demos and brand vs brand comparisons.

I've recently joined the power-tool retail space overseas, and I must say some of these new cordless tools are phenomenal.

    Light, quiet, non-polluting, powerful.

My professional recommendation is DeWalt Makita or Milwaukee. But do your own research. Amazon ship, and you often get generous import refunds from them too.

    Chalawaan,

Thank you for your ideas. I would be very hesitant to buy something with moving parts from Amazon as quick service is important to me...

LOL. Lovely pre Omicron information there mate. It also requires a well fitted (I.e fit tested) N95 mask, in a lab, to achieve anything like those numbers and that’s with less transmissible versions of the virus.

Given those days are gone and that about 3 odd folk on earth wear fit tested N95’s in real world settings then I’m unsure what you think your religiously held mask views are achieving?

    You are probably both correct.

Which means that masks are not a perfect answer but they help.

There are lots of gray areas in life, and safety is important when you are in a high risk group or in contact with those in a high risk group...

Unless you are not concerned about senior citizens and those who are ill... Or have no contact with those folks...

Great stuff, respect to you for using your kids as an excuse for one day a year.

But never had kids needing school run in  Thailand.

just one step daughter at Uni at present.

So I don't know the pressures of it all here, to not allow a partner or family friend or an other mother or dad to do the task for one day a year for you.

ok i understand.  ( friends mum in uk used to do it for me and Satan in the uk years a go, if needed )

    Lazy fits for me.

Guess we are all different, but I believe the truth set us all free.

    Good day.

I got it now - you are not serious just having fun with your posts...

    Nah, don't buy it.

Just laziness. very few people need an agent,

( but some people can and do find themselves in a position where an agent is  needed )

You must live near a great immigration office - this is good.

I have in the past spent hours sitting and waiting.

And as I wrote before I have children who I need to pickup from school and can't be late ever - that's how I am with my kids - spending a very small amount of money to take care of my family is how I live my life - we may very well be different - which is OK as that makes the world interesting...

And personally I have the correct funds but use an agent to do all the paperwork for me (Hence it only costs me 8K) so can you please tell me what's wrong with doing that?

I use an estate agent in the UK to manage my property

I use an accountant in the UK to file my Tax Returns

I use a gardener in the UK to mow my lawns...

What is having money for if not to make your life easier...

Exactly- paying for the service is a good idea. Some people can't afford to pay extra and have extra time - and I understand that - for myself I like having an agent do the paperwork but I really need the appointment they are able to get for me in and out in a few minutes - as I am working and have children to pick up - drop off at school. (note talking about my annual visa extension)

No, because the toner cartridge is made to be replaced by the user. The battery in an iPhone isn't supposed to be replaced by a user.

It's not a super difficult process, but you should have the right tools and there is a chance that you damage something, so better let a shop do this, especially because it won't cost much here in Thailand.

Thank you! I agree with you...

I will go to a small friendly shop that can do it while I wait. Waiting a week and two trips is expensive for me as I am busy with family life and work...

  9. This thread is becoming very interesting.

I am giving serious thought to trying to do this myself. I am not a technician but I can replace a toner cartridge in a laser printer - is the complexity about that level?

I will do a Google search...

If I can do this saving money would be good but the feeling of accomplishment will be even better! Note - I am not technical so this will be great for me... smiling!

    Many thanks for the idea!

Not sure about Chiang mai but if you want authentic apple products you have to go to an apple authorized retailer, I think they have a list on their website, it's actually pretty cheap to get a battery replacement at apple, surprisingly.

I'd avoid going to one of those cell phone stores that just tosses in some cheap knock off battery that doesn't last long

A good point I wonder if apple will replace a battery on an old phone...

"there  should be nothing to fear"

No, that's not correct.. The vaccines, especially  if you've been boosted, do a pretty good job at reducing your likelihood of serious illness and death from COVID, but they're not 100%... And their protections do tend to wane after 4-5 months post vaccination.

So yes, definitely get vaccinated and boosted in accord with the public health guidelines. But even for those who have already been vaccinated and boosted, wearing a quality face mask when around others in public places not only helps protect you but also protects those around you should you come down with the virus.

    Completely agree.

Also some are at a high risk - so even if vaccinated should be very careful.
