    Kennedy started Vietnam.

actually VN started prior to Kennedy but he expanded the number of people there and sent Johnson to determine the progress with Diem.

Yeah, I think you are right about that.   I think Kennedy authorized the Army elements that  I worked with to go into Vietnam in 1960.

Yeah whenever a negotiator gives up anything of importance just to get out of a situation i.e. Trump and the Taliban too as he must have learned from HENRY kISSINGER the art of negotiating just to get out of a situation and blame it on others.  MHO anyway as a VN vet involved in that fiasco for 10 years.

    and the South Koreans.

NZ had less than 600 personnel in Vietnam at any one time. The NZ artillery reportedly did a good job. The government was reluctant to send anyone, but NZ needs the US to protect us, so probably a good idea to send a nominal force. NZ also had a civilian nursing cohort there. I knew one of them- a lovely woman.

Even Thailand had military fighting in Vietnam.

Blame your own generation for that. We gave you everything needed for a utopia and your lot were too greedy.

Paradise was lost when Kennedy was assassinated and the b'tards started Vietnam.

    Kennedy started Vietnam.

Some of the people I worked with, from late 1970 through early 1973, had a tour or two, in Vietnam starting in 1960!

Hate to tell you this, but

Vietnam had a hell of a lot of us boomers fighting over there

Off on a tangent here ..

According to a brief internet search, there were 2.7 - 3.1 million American military personnel, that were there, participating in the Vietnam war.  If you include the non Vietnamese militaries, there were a lot more too.

Also, between 9 and 12 million people claim to have been there, participating in the Vietnam war.

I am guessing that half of the 9 - 12 million Americans that claim/claimed they were there, cannot prove they were there, because their service there was ... dum, dum, dum, dummmmmmmm, classified "TOP SECRET"!!!!

I get a chuckle, sometimes, about those classified claims.  I had to have a TOP SECRET clearance before I could start my MOS training.   My MOS school notebook was classified SECRET with a CODE WORD.  But what I was training to be, was not classified.

What I did in Vietnam was not classified, just the product of the works was classified and nowadays, much of that has been declassified too.   (for those that don't know and get upset with upper case words,  the words CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET, and TOP SECRET, when properly used to classify a document, are always written in upper case font)

Yes, why not pat yourselves on the back! You guys are in total deniaL. The golden age was the generation before yours btw, a people that had balls and scruples. The boomer generation must be the most contemptible, needy and weak of any. They never fought a proper war and had the world handed to them on a plate, and at the same time have reaped MASSIVE pensions and property etc. Shame on you!!

Define what you mean by a "proper war"?

Nobody is against that but the question is the storm trooper smash it all tactics of DOGE.

Also why did you paste all that with NO LINK?

Very suspect "facts" if you don't bother to do that.

Took 10-15 seconds to get the link.  It has taken longer to respond and post the link.

    You too, can do this.

I used to do exactly the same, I only carried cash when I went out, unless going to the bank. Why carry things with you that you don't need to, that will be a big hassle if they go missing? In 20 years I was never asked for ID on the street there either.

In all the times I have been to Thailand, I was only asked for my passport one time.

I was on a bus from Mukdahan to Udon Thani.   At the bottom of a hill was a police roadblock.   Police boarded the bus and asked everyone for their ID. They asked everyone several questions before giving their ID's back.

Police officer got to me, asked for my passport, opened it up to the picture page I guess, looked at it, looked at me, then gave my passport back.   Didn't ask or say anything other than, "Passport".    I was the only white face on the bus.

The police took several people into custody before letting the bus go on.

I remember it being a long ride to Udon Thani.  There was no air service at the time.

    yup, that is off-topic,

Thanks for letting us all know bikes are bad.

Not all bikes are bad.  You should know that.

Just the bad bike riders are bad.   You should know that.

P.S.  I have found the moderators don't seem to mind off topic posts, if they are labeled as off topic posts.  Otherwise, off topic posts seem to disappear into internet space, never to be read again.

Just in case you didn't know that.

As an aside, i dont think you quite understand how hostile an environment the us and UK are becoming for cyclists.

having experienced both over the years, I'm far more comfortable here, folks behind the wheel may be more potentially negligent, but they arent malicious

Off the topic of the bike rider in Thailand, in response to the above.

There is a bike, jogging path beside the main street near my house, in Pennsylvania, U.S. of A..  It has stop signs for bikes at the streets that branch off the main street.

The stop signs have the word, "BIKE" printed on the bottom of them, further clarifying the fact that bike riders are supposed to stop at the intersection, per Pennsylvania law.

Yet, bike riders ignore it and ride into the street without looking.   Then the bike riders are angry with the drivers of vehicles, when they are nearly hit by vehicles that are slowing to stop at the intersection, obeying the stop signs for vehicles.

Only if one has a warped mind which you obviously do.

Perhaps one should remind you that someone died here so do you really think it is right and proper to make fun of it????

Perhaps just a warped sense of humor.   Been like that since I was in a war for 20 months (or was it 24 months?  I forget).   I developed a warped or morbid sense of humor as  way to survive without going completely insane!

Maybe or maybe not, but for sure in the US

"Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins this weekend offered some unusual advice to Americans frustrated by rising egg prices: raise your own chickens."🤣👏

"Egg prices have reached record highs in recent weeks, with some areas of the U.S. seeing a dozen go for $10 or higher."

Maybe Thailand can help😋 if Chairman Orange goes on his knees

Who is Chairman Orange?   Never heard of him.
