Spot on , the phrase "far right" is completely misunderstood by  the modern day wokies , its use as an insult is actually quite disrespectful to those who genuinely have suffered at the hands of real fascists.

It is used not only as a pathetic well worn  insult aimed at anybody they disagree with, but also as a kind of "stopping " word intended to end any meaningful discussion of a subject they feel uncomfortable with. Same as "denier " or words ending in "phobe" by attempting to discredit the person who's views they are attacking

There is a simple reason why we don't hear words like "far left"  very much , and one only has to realise the political leanings of the luvvies working in mainstream media to know why

I used to be fearful for the future, but I am becoming  cautiously optimistic, as the silent majority is slowly waking up, and  there are more and more signs of a backlash

Sort of like, you are a racist!   When you disagree with the leftist ideology that was taught to them in college or don't do whatever they command you to do, then you are also called a racist!

Off the topic of apocalyptical ecological disasters.

There was also the dire prediction I heard spouted back when HIV/AIDS was running rampant in the gay U.S. of A. population back in the 1980's.   I forget the time frame that this prediction was supposed to take place in.

10 million people a year, in the U.S. of A.,  will die from AIDS!  I think that prediction was for the heterosexual population.

Yet wikipedia (not a source I am accustomed to using) has this ...

There are a lot of Filipino english teachers in public schools here.  They can have quite an accent.  So that may be some of the reason for it.

I sometimes feel Thai's purposefully don't understand me when I am speaking Thai.  I know my Thai is not the greatest and I mess up tones.  But I think sometimes it is because when I speak thai they are listening for english and just hear gibberish.

My Thai language is limited, but enough to live in Thailand, if I were to do so.   Several comments made by Thai's when I speak Thai, some more than once, your Thai is very good, you are the first falang speaking Thai that I can understand, you speak Thai very well.

As to Thai's speaking English.   A family friend who used to be a senior official in the Thai government who had to travel to other countries, needed to speak English with people who did not have English as a first language..   He does, sort of.   He attended an English language class where, I think, if I recall correctly, he only needed to listen to English spoken, but was not required speak it back.   His English is very difficult to understand, not only because of poor pronunciation, but very poor grammar as well.

On the opposite end of the scale of a Thai speaking English, was a young woman I spoke with briefly at Chulalongkorn University, when I was taking a Thai language refresher course.  After speaking with her for 5 minutes, I asked her, which of the southern states did you live in America, as she spoke with a slight southern accent I could not place, and I thought she was an American citizen.   She told me she was Thai, grew up in Thailand and had never been outside of Thailand.   But, you speak with a southern accent I responded.  She tells me, oh, my English teacher is from Arkansas (a U.S. of A. state).   He teaches English here at Chula.

  5. I used to work in a government call center here in the U.S. of A..   With my exposure to so many people around the world, I can understand a lot of people who speak English, no matter what countries accent they have.   So, I had many calls to the call center transferred to me, because the employee could not understand the accent of the person speaking English with them.

How ever, there was that one guy that was transferred to me.   His call was transferred to me and the employee told me, I don't know what language this guy is speaking!   It took me a few seconds before I realized, he was speaking English.   He had a very strong Appalachian Mountain resident accent.   I managed to make it through the call and the man was satisfied with my help, but I had difficulty understanding what he was saying.

I suspect that he lived in an area of the Appalachian Mountains that were once only accessible by horse, or foot, with no roads for anything else.

I, during my young childhood days, used many of the same words that are in the video and text of the link below.

" In fact, some say that the speech of the southern mountaineers is “pure Elizabethan English” just as Shakespeare would have spoken it. "

    ...and Duracell batteries are everywhere?

I will have to look again when I am back in Thailand.   Usually, the only alkaline batteries I see just about any place selling batteries, are the Panasonic brand.

Of course not....he complains about 'the Zionists in Israel' (or other versions of the same nonsense).

I sit, or rather lounge here, corrected.   From some of the wordings of internet comments one could think that Zion/Zionists, are different people  from the Israeli people, and in other internet comments, Zionists and Israelis are the same people.

I do not refer only to comments on asean now, but also to comments that I read other places on the internet.

The north vietnamese army  was an active participant in killing non combatants in South Vietnam, some for not helping the NVA, some for psychological warfare against the non combatants of the south.  When he says the NVA sacrificed Vietnamese, what he means is, the NVA  murdered to further their ends.

The North Vietnamese government was also complicit in the violation of the Rule 97, by locating schools, hospitals, nurseries, old age homes, etc, within the industrial buildings and areas that were used to build military arms, using non combatants as human shields!  Although, without researching this on the internet, I am not sure that the north vietnamese government was a signatory to the Geneva Convention rules.   I think not though.

Not only that, but I watched a video in which a hamas leader claimed that Israel and the United Nations are responsible for the palestinian people, not hamas,  (and if I recall correctly) that hamas is only responsible for hamas soldiers!

The atrocities that "are being committed" by the IDF are the killing of civilians and the destruction of entire blocks of buildings in Gaza. This has been done by rockets and artillery. There have been few IDF soldiers who have invaded Gaza (to my knowledge). The atrocities which "have been committed" by the IDF (Zionists) over the 100+ year period these two peoples have been at war include all the atrocities cited in my original post, which include murder, torture, and rape.

What do you say about hamas and their violation of, supposedly international law, Rule 97?

I don't smoke cigarettes or cigars.  But I did eat candy cigarettes as a kid and they, apparently did not lead me to smoking cigarettes.

Here in the U.S. of A., I do know where to buy candy cigarettes.  I buy them occasionally when I pass by the kiosk selling them.   They taste just as good as they did when I was a kid.

Now, that dreaded poison ... chocolate ... I am addicted to that stuff.  Got to have some almost every day!!  For some reason, especially when I am driving or traveling somewhere.   Sometimes when I go to Thailand first, my wife will bring me several Mr. Goodbars (peanuts and chocolate) with her to feed my addiction, when she goes to Thailand later!

I don't think the tourist fully understood that the bargirl he was going back to the hotel with was actually a Ladyboy, as far as I understand, bargirls don't set up farangs for robbery once they have paid the bar fine and 4,200 baht bar fine I find to be incorrect, perhaps 1,200 baht and 3,000 baht for the "girl".

I have heard many stories were they go back to the room, mobile rings, oh no, sorry, no can do, my sister have motorbike accident in hospital, must go, or period come, etc etc, the farangs are mostly amicable about letting them go.

They also forgo the bar fine that they paid, although I do know a guy who went back and collected his bar fine back, but not from the bar owner, but from the girl he bar fined in advance, e.g. he was with her the previous night, (fell in love) went back to the bar and paid the bar owner for the remaining 13 nights he was going to be there.

Owner later that night called the girl to come in as she was a no show, told her to give him his money back, which she did from the ATM, he later found out that she ditched him for a younger bloke.....LOL

NO!  You are wrong!  She didn't ditch me for a younger man, her water buff ... er .. uh... hmmmmmm... never mind..

Must of hit a sore point there.

Nice try about talking Thai, do you really think your the only expat that speaks Thai?

I think the Thai views on issues depends on the type of Thai you are talking with and in what situation, bar, workplace, area of the country, education, background, etc.

It good to know that you think you speak for all Thais’.
