Funny, Chinese don´t complain about the Baht and come in masses (if there is no virus). Only westerns are whining.
If you pay most of your trip at home in your local currency you won't have to complain about an overinflated currency.

agree and why are the WAREHOUSES/OUTLETS allowed to sell alcohol at anytime of the day.....I know of at least eight in Jomtien that sell anytime of the day !!
Because they have a wholesale license.
This enables them to sell booze whenever they like, but only in wholesale quantities.
So can't buy just one bottle of Singha, but a complete box of 24. -

1 hour ago, Beggar said:We had this already. And why until 4? If so then better no closing times at all. And I repeat myself - advertise the tourist places as what they are. Pattaya is for sure one of the biggest red light districts in the world with sex offered even in shop malls and on the beach road and in addition at endless sex bars spread all over the place. And I am afraid that extended opening times of the red light districts are not helpful to attract more family tourists.
Thailand and especially Pattaya does not need "family tourists" that have to think twice before spending a Baht (kids are really expensive....). No, whats needed are more, much more, quality tourists who populate the bars (you called them sex bars). This money goes directly to Somchai and its family in Isaan while bypassing those who already have their pockets fully stuffed.

according to Thai authorities there were only 34 infections and most of (if not all) those have been treated and released from hospital so the number of infections in Thailand is almost zero - no new infections have been reported
You gave the answer by yourself.
"according to Thai authorities"
Never ever believe authorities in a situation like this. Not in Thailand or any other country in the world. Authorities will never tell the truth to prevent a panic and - more important - to secure their own power.- 5

LATEST: #Westerdam now on the way to #Cambodia. Scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning. Appears more than 2,000 passengers may be allowed to disembark. #Thailand #Japan #Philippines #Taiwan have all refused the cruise ship to dock at its ports

Good.
And maybe the cruise trade association thinks about the countries and ports they are going to visit in the future. They should blacklist Thailand and its ports for at least a decade.- 1

There is another idea about the virus and why it is spreading there and not so much in other places. It has to do with weather:
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/commentary/hot-climate-wuhan-virus-vaccine-12389694
Sounds possible to me (but I'm not a medic!). We should also keep in mind that many houses and flats in China do not have a heating. Thats an order by former dictator Mao who said that south of the Yangtse river a heating is not necessary.
I remember a photo my ex-fiancee (she is BTW from Wuhan....) sent me. That photo shows a family meeting at lunar / chinese new year. Every person was wearing thick winter clothing, but they were inside a room....- 1

Somchai will tune the diesel so it may run 160++ and also add very noisy exhaust.
And brakes? What? Who needs brakes? We've got a loud horn!- 1

brilliant! what will they think of next?
What about stopping the entry via visa exempt? MFA will profit from that (Yes, they also need Mercs, Bimmers, Rolls and Bentleys...)
Or what about an "Immigration Service Fee" (of course waived for citizens of India and China) payable at the point of entry?
What about charging 5% commission when changing cash? (Goes to the excise dept, Chinese Yuan and Indian Rupees exempted) -

They want to be us, dye their skin, get facial surgery... all to look like Westerners.
They really hate themselves, and the way they look.
We should pity them for that.
Correct.
They not only want to look like civilized humans, they also want imported goods from "farangland". Why does a good nationalist Thai want to own and drive a car made in "farangland"?
Get a Thairung instead of a Merc, a Bimmer, a Rolls or a Bentley!- 3

Right.
Introduce hand cleaning into the immigration desk process and make it quicker. OOOkkkaayy.
Or maybe bring your own hand cleanser, clean your hands in the queue and after you get stamped in and stop passing your personal safety to somebody else?
Too much to ask?
No. I already got 3 small 100ml bottles of hospital grade handsanitizer. Problem with that stuff: Its highly flammable (contains ethanol at > 95% by volume). So I wrote to the airport authority in Frankfurt and asked them about having that stuff in cabin as well as checked luggage.
Response: I MAY get my sanitizer thru the security check for hand luggage but the bottles in the checked baggage will most likely be removed (hazardous material) / stolen.....
So if security has a bad day (they mostly have) I will end up with NO sanitizer at all in BKK.....Not as easy as it seems....

He has the two things to qualify for any position in Thailand:

Freeze all his assets in western bank accounts and expropriate all and any real estate he may hold. Kick him out of any western company in which he may hold shares, too. This xenophobic, racist psycho needs to learn a lesson.
Would be nice.
But do you really think the those politicians in the west have the balls to do so?
When I think of those clowns in the German "government", I have to say that they would crawl into Anutins back orifice to make him / his companies invest in the country.- 3

Why should I follow the "guidance" of an unelected "government". As long as there is no "law" stating that everybody has to wear a mask, nobody needs to follow this "guidance".
The "guidance" itself is wrong, as the WHO statements prove.- 12

No need to cancel.
I assume that you come to Pattaya for the pristine, white sands, the turquoise waters, the great food and the culture... ????So if you are a quality tourist looking for some fun you'll most likely never get to those chinese hotspots.
The usual nightlife areas like Soi 7/8, Soi New Plaza, Soi MiT, Soi LK Metro, Soi Pothole and Soi Buakao are not chinese infested.
My tip:
Pack those bags, get onto that flight and come to Pattaya. Pattaya - you can come everyday. ???? (Young guys even more often.......)- 8

Accouncement of the date comes pretty late.
Luckily I was still able to book a room for those two days at a hotel away from the noise.
Normally I would stay at View Talay 6 north side, but it gets the full blast of one of the stages. I still remember those two nights in June last year..... -
With the official (!) numbers of infected persons in China rising each and every day, that little fellow from Wuhan may be here to stay for a while.

Ain't Thailand great? If you did that in the nanny states, they'd own your hotel after the discrimination lawsuits.

Well, Thailand ain't great.
But you're right. Especially if he had done that in Germany the next night the militant communists (so called Antifa) would have burnt down his hotel.
Those morons don't need a lawsuit, a few gallons of gasoline are sufficient.

Yes there are rich Indians. You may find a few of them in the luxury hotels in Pattaya but more of them are on Puket and also Kao Lack.
The Kao Lack Marriott was/is a place were plenty of Indian weddings took place.
And an Indian wedding is loud and very expensive.....
