  1. If you want to lease land, simply just lease directly from the land owner/seller.

No need to involve any 3rd parties here like you girlfriend or someone else.

The seller of the land often don't care if they sell or lease out the land if the price is the same.

Many sellers can see the benefit of leasing out the land for 30 years, because when the lease expires they still have the land and also the house that sits on the land! Great deal, no?

  2. Thanks for posting.

The pool looks ok (abit basic for 1 million baht). A friend recently had his pool finished, has waterfall and built in jacuzzi, looks alot better than yours and didn't cost as much...

I would very much like to see photos of this pool....but also I would love to know the builders name and contact info :-) You're very welcome to PM me :-)

  3. Great beaches and natural beauty. A paradise.

But what is the local infrustructure like? Very little ...good roads and easy access to airports and shopping.....

Are there any hospitals nearby that may save your life if you have a dire medical emergency? Surat Thani or Nakhon Sri Thammarat!!...The hospital in Sichon is quite modern, we use it when my son is sick....

Are there transport connections such as airports with flights to major centres? Surat - BKK or Nakhon - BKK....Nok Air, Air Asia, Thai Airways and One-Two Go Thai Orient has daily flights to and from NST and Surat Thani....International flights also from Krabi and Koh Samui....

Are there government centres such as immigration? What are internet and tv conections like? Immigration will be Surat ot nakhon, TV and internet not a problem......Immigration if you live in Khanom is NST. 1 hours drive from Khanom.... UBC Satellite works just fine here! 3 Internet providers: TT&T (Triple T), TOT and CAT....

Entertainment for expats? TV and internet....1 hours drive from a golf course....Sipping Coconut Juice under a palm tree....Monthly Ample Moon Party on the beach with live music.....fishing from the piers and cliffs are excellent....canoe....kayak....snorkeling......diving.....beach golf.....(yup....you can play golf at the beach when at times one of the bays north of Khanom drains comletly for water.....).....rent a boat and watch the pink dolhins....these are very rare and you only find them in the wild here in Khanom and in the Brazilian Amazone River....!....just to mention a few things :-).....

Large shopping centres, etc, somewhere to buy sandfly repellant? Tesco or Big C in Surat Thani.....dunno about sandfly repellant, never seen a sandfly here in Khanom :-)....But NST has all the huge shopping arcades like Robinson, Carrefour, Big C, Tesco......the nearest Tesco shopping is in Tha Sala on the way to NST .....

  4. A paradise where swaying coconut palms, lush green landscape, limestone mountains and virtually untouched beaches still remain in their natural beauty.

Then someone decides to build a monstrosity of an eye-sore right on the beach. :)

I find this Scandinavian design very beautiful. It fitts well into the surroundings...but each to his own taste :D

  5. I didn't know that Khanom existed until 3 years ago :D

It was love at first sight :)

In December a new Scandinavian owned 5 star resort opens with a Scandianvian restaurant and bakery.

They also serves genuine pizza from wood fired oven!

You can see their website here: Aava Resort

And here is a few photos attached.

  6. I have 4 Thai employees....I am not officially married but was told by the labor office in Nakhon Si Thammarat that if I was married I only needed 2 employees....but that wasn't actually something I considered, because I need the 4 employees anyway....

I was also told that if I only have say 1 employee I could still get a work permit, but not a 1 year visa.

And the work permit follows the visa, so I could only get a work permit for the time that my visa lasts. In other words:

You can get a work permit no matter how many emplouyees, but if you don't have at least 4 (or 2 if married) then you can only get a 3 months visa and a 3 months work permit.

So you will need to do a visa run every 90 days.

A solution is to apply for a marriage visa and when you get the 1 year visa, you apply for a 1 year work permit :)

  7. BTW if anyone is still cynical about mid to low end condo sales they can go to the LPN website - www.lpn.co.th.

Shame this website is only in Thai language...would've loved to read about these priects!

Are they for Thai nationals only? I mean...I prefer western kitchen and bathroom :D

Oooopppsssss.....just found the English language button down in the bottom of the page :)

  8. When I lived in Pattaya years ago I always spent Christmas Eve at the Admirals Pub in Jomtien.

    Does it still exist??

They used to make Danish Christmas food: Roasted Duck with brown sauce, red gabbage and brown patatoes!

    LOVE IT :)

Considering very heavily returning this year, just for the sake of the food!

If you're Scandinavian or northern european you will love this food!

I don't care much about the commercial "Christmas", but I still love the food associated with this time of year :D

  9. Just seached all the topics about Import Duty of 2nd hand cars.

Today my wife saw an advert about a car for sale.

This car has number plates from Singapore but it is already in Thailand.

The price was very cheap....She emailed the seller and asked why it was so cheap.

He said that he had not paid the import duty but also told her that "practically nothing disturbs to drive without it"....

In other words he told her that she could drive using the Singaporean number plates without paying duty....

But of course this is illegal....and I told my wife if she want it, then she must pay the import duty....but after searching all the topics I found some info saying that you have to apply for importing a car even you are Thai national.

But I can't find any info about the duty percentage....

    Does anyone know?

Or do you know a phone number where we can call the relevant import duty office??

  10. Just got a really good offer from a print shop in Koh Samui, - Samui Aksorn Printing. They gave me the best offer. 56,000 THB included everything and 130 gram cover paper and 100 gram inside magazine paper.

So now our magazine will hit the streets in December! :)

  11. TT&T - Now renamed themselves as Triple T (maybe because they get too many angry customers who tell their friends never to use TT&T).

They called us the other morning and told us they had problems with their lines in our part of Khanom, and when we asked them when they would repair the lines, they just said they didn't know!

Then we told them that we wanted to cancel our Internet connection and wanted to sign up with a company that could actually deliver that we pay for.

The reply was that we then would have to pay a fine of 4,000 THB.

    Great service!!

They can't deliver the service we pay for, and then they ask for a penaly fee to cancel our contract!

    TT&T / Triple T...whatever they call themselves....NEVER AGAIN!! :)
