It's standard practice and getting upset about it with the hospital is just plain dumb.

With hindsight it wasn't a good idea to bomb Libya and force regime change after all, or a few other places for that matter.
It is rarely a bad idea to bomb bad guys. It's the politicians that screw up the fall out that is the problem.

My Thai wife and I are moving from los angeles to Rayong in 2 months, but we are looking for a real nice area to live. Can you suggest a few awesome areas to live near the ocean.....?
My own choices would be around the Mae Ram Phueng Beach area at the Khao Laen Ya National park end. about 15km East of Rayong. Other nice area is Ban Chang, around 18 Km west of Rayong City. If you take the time to drive around both of them, you can find very attractive locations and accommodation (houses and Condos) at very reasonable prices to either rent or buy. If you can be a bit further away from the sea and a little more off the beaten track, take a look slightly north of Rayong and the 36 road. Very attractive rural villages around that area. Hope that helps.

why go there at all. It's an unattractive place at best and a dangerous one at that.

ha, yes, just noticed. Still, the advice still holds.

Anything done in the sea in Pattaya is dangerous, simply because of the sewer state of the water. It's full of all kinds of bacteria and trash. Go somewhere else is my recommendation, anywhere but there.

Really sorry to see it go. It was a much better outlet for real news than the Bangkok Post. Shame.

You only need netflix. awesome content. so much choice. you will be finding it hard which one to choose as theres so much on offer. only 400 baht a month. go for it. you will never unsubscribe. you will never need another service. highly recommended
Well yes and no. I have UK Netflix and using the VPN, I get much better content than the Thai version. It's okay, but too much missing for me.

If you can possibly put off doing that now, it would be very sensible. The baht is unrealistically strong and any transfer from another country is going to result in the lowest rate for many years. Wait a while if you can until and if the rate improves in the shorter term.

Who would buy baht in any large quantity and why?
have you seen the exchange rate to almost all other currencies? Currency speculation is a short term game. There would be lots of customers if the BoT released more currency. It's termed 'quantitative easing', as I'm sure that you know. Other Asian countries may well also buy baht to protect their own postilions and weaken a strong Asian currency, which the baht is at the moment.

That would make the baht go up not down.
If the B o T sold Bhat to buy US dollars the baht would depreciate, albeit that it is a crude way to manipulate a national currency and the baht is not a particularly valued currency and therefor the move may be small. China did this for many years to keep the Yuan low value to aid their export drive.

Idris is a great actor, very cool, love the guy. As JB, I don't see it..but I'd like to, perhaps in an alternative spin off. Would there be a white Shaft? (has there been??)
well I guess we all have our own opinion. I think way over rated such that he makes me cringe whenever I see him try to 'act'.

Not long ago I read all the James Bond books from the first to the last.
It was interesting how many of the movies are a lot different from the books.
And it's funny that all newer movies which are not based on the original books still use movie titles from the "old" books.
In the books you could clearly picture what JB looked like, what his past was like, what he acted and reacted like. They were (are) really entertaining, if very dated now. They (he) can't be 'modernised', as he was a character of his time.

Lots of people come here with the belief that they don't need other foreigners, they can be happy mixing only with the Thai people. That may be true in a very small number of cases but most people get very lonely very quickly without a decent choice of people to mix with who at least speak their own language and share a common culture/sense of humour. On top of the social aspects, the more farangs there are around, the more there are likely to be shops and restaurants catering to farang tastes. Thai food can get pretty boring after a while if that's all there is to eat. I've got one friend who lives up-country in Isaan and the nearest place to get decent bread is the Tops in Ubon, which is a 150 km round-trip for him. Crazy for a couple of loaves of bread.
Why exactly? Most farangs I come across here, apart from a few good friends, I don't want to know thanks.

Thailand is NOT a big fish in that game. It needs to devalue the baht to get it's import/export balance correct.
It's not a fish at all, just a small plankton.

Who want's a black James Bond? James Bond is a white heterosexual guy. It's a fact.
Create a new character 001 or 700 or whatever and make him black or a woman or whatever. No problem. But why 007?
Precisely my point. Read the books guys

I have no problem with a black Bond type character (The Equaliser movies are great), or a woman, or a gay, or LBGT, any other ethnicity, or colour, but let's stop calling them all "James Bond". JB was a particularly detailed and well drawn character in the books, portrayed to perfection by Sean Connery and particularly by Roger Moore and diluting that character just doesn't make any sense from a James Bond fan perspective. Call him/her/them something else and move on. Of course, that would just make the character just like thousands of others, in thousands of movies over many years. But hey, that's show business.
