Speaking of modifications and scams the police should be looking at the big menace on Pattaya roads - the 3 wheelers! I recall Pattaya City Hall a couple of years ago promising to tackle this illegal problem.

Thanks Kooweerup for the info. Just read the post and being a staunch Saints man will try to be involved this coming season

Is anyone else in Pattaya having trouble logging in/out of the fantasy game? I cannot get my team and have tried on 3 computers now and am getting frustrated because closeout is tomorrow. It is like my account is blocked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think Thaksin is smiling quite openly these days - the rice fiasco is his baby and is all part of his major plan to get even. In other words if he can't come home then he will cripple the country and bring it to its knees. Not doing too bad a job of it I'd say.

O
bviously a lot of writers fail to grasp why so many have joined this protest. The average Thai has been taught from a very early age to be subservient and not allowed to express opinions. My Thai wife , when discussing events that she can't stomach. asked why she doesn't speak out simply has always said that it wouldn't do any good. Well this movement is different in that it has allowed the long-suppressed people to join with their own voice (or whistle).
I think it is a very positive moment in Thai history when the opportunity to express one's feelings has come to the fore.
I wish them well and sincerely hope there is no more loss of life.

This is great to hear. But the holdups over the last couple of years were mainly for those applying for re-entry visas.
Anyone with news re this?

Started at 10.15pm and finished at 11pm. Watched it from the top of the Hilton and it was one fantastic show. Sorry you missed it.

Can"t stress enough to get to an orthopedist quickly. I suffered badly with back problems at L4/5 and tried everything and no success. Finally the pain became referred pain and was so painful. Went to Bumrungrad and had the tests and was told the fusion operation was urgently required.
Had the op and here I am 20 years later and never had 1 day of pain since the op. I am now 70.

A little bit more expensive than buying votes, This 24 only cost Bht 180 million of Thailands' money to buy this lot. She is a despicable shyster.

I have been to PIH on several occasions and found the services to be very good and the fees a lot cheaper than PBH.
On an aside I recently had to have a cystoscopy for insurance purposes and went to PBH for a quote and was given 25,000 bht as the cost. Having been to Samitivej Sri Richa before thought I would try them , found a good specialist who said price would not exceed 18,000 bht including lab tests if required. BUT on making the appointment a rather chubby attendant arrived and quoted 30,000 bht which shook me. I referrred her to the doctor and his quote of 18,000 bht. The quote was changed to 21,000 bht so I agreed and just wanted out.
In the event it all went well and the final bill ( created by the doctor ) was 14,000 plus. I wonder if they are starting 2 prices on seeing a farang which will bear watching. Not that many farangs go there.

The traffic in Pattaya always moves better when the lights are off - that is the simple truth. The installation of lights is an inconvenience for the vast majority of motorists and a convenience for the minority who cannot handle the normal situation.
We also have what some know as the green light syndrome where almost every driver takes at least five seconds to realize that the light has turned to green and then moves very slowly.
Agreed that you have to adapt and not get upset.

See the girl in Home Pro , we are 95% completed and couldnt be happier with the quality and service. Her name is Khun Mai.

There is a phillopino lady with an office outside on the left, i think she can do most types of visa's for you - drop off all the paperwork, she calls you when it's done, it removes ALL the ball ache!
I think thats what the visa outfits and immigration wants. What is the fee for this service, I know they have payments to make?
800 baht - bargain!! girls name is Ruby i think - pm me if you want her number, speaks perfect English.
Thanks so much for the heads up on this.

What a rat-race. Went last week for a re-entry visa and couldnt even get a ticket and was told to come back today at 8am. Arrived promptly at this time and a short line . Ten minutes later I received my ticket and was no. 48 in line. Exactly 3 hours later I walked out with the visa.
What the heck is happening? I have lived here for 30 years and have never experienced anything like this.
Can anybody throw any light on this as it is sheer torture at the moment ?

Re Yankee: You must go to a different Pattaya office than me - minimum wait is 30 minutes and have waited up to 1hour15 on one occasion.

260 million baht is approx 4,000 baht for every man woman and child here. Not bad huh? And rising.

Just back from Jomtien Imm. and for my re-entry I received no change. Must have gone up as the computer receipt showed B1.000. Nearly made a right ass of myself.

I have been to the East side dealer many times with the intent of buying a new Toyota. Service was attrocious so have not returned in 4 years. Now we are happy owners of 2 Hondas and their service is great. We buy insurance through a broker who fixed us with the best. Had an accident on the slippery road, a rear ender, past Samut Songkram, near the salt farms, the insurance were there within 10 minutes and after taking details a tow truck was called and lifted our car onto the back of the truck for the journey back to Pattaya with my son and I as happy passengers in the car on top of the world. Our vehicle was back on the road in 2 weeks and fixed by Honda as per the insurance, Total cost 3,000 baht deductible.
Just make sure you get the best, it makes life a helluva lot better when it counts.

Went to Pattaya Immigration on Thursday to get a re-entry visa. Took me an hour and 15 minutes. The procedure was normal until my passport reached the last desk. As this was late in the afternoon one would think it would be very quick but this guy was very deliberate in that everyone would have to wait for him. I sat for one hour and in that time he processed about 8 passports. Seems like he just wanted to make everyone wait - I think the other officials were embarrased about it all but would not say anything. So best to allow lots of time for this excuse for efficiency.

Does anyone know about the following: A friend returned this week from Europe and was told by another friend he had to report to immigration with his address (even after putting it on his T.M. form). Went to Soi 5 yesterday and sure enough 2 new desks had been set up for this purpose. He filled in the appropriate form and was given a receipt for it - similar to the 90 day but hand written. He believes there is a penalty if you do not do this.
Can anyone shed light on this?
