In July, I got my battery replaced on my Tag (old - 1996) on the 1st floor of Maya shopping center. It is the guy selling watches towards the back. We also had a old Seiko watch, but he could not replace that battery.

    Thanks

  2. Good afternoon,

I have a genuine low end Tag Heuer that needs the battery replaced. Last time it happened I got it done at the official Tag place in Bangkok but I am now located in Chiang Mai.

Can anyone reccomend a place in Chiang Mai?

    Thanks

  3. Has anyone got experience of sending belongings back to the UK? Looking to send two high end bicycles backs a few boxes of clothes. 50-60Kgs at a guess. Just looking for the simplest and most cost efficient method.

    Thanks for any advice people.

  4. Anybody going to Mae Sai on the 25th of Sep or before with private car?  Would be willing to pay for fuel to save myself getting the bus.

Alternatively anybody want to share the costs of a private taxi on the the 25th of Sep.

    Thanks

Traffic lights are a concen as i drive a car.. What time is the Rush hour??

In downtown CM and basically the whole city peak traffic is pretty much all day long. Short journeys in a car always take a long time. However mountain front does have small restaurants, coffee shops, place to drink in walking distance.

Why not look for an airbnb property there and stay for a week first see if you like the area.

I used to have an issue getting a taxi there but now with GRAB you won't.

  6. Depends on the individual. Where do you spend your time? I stayed there for 6 months before, nice pool, quiet location, good for walking/running etc.

Only downside was heading into old city and returning even though a short distance take along time due to CM's traffic lights.

The Cambodian visa on arrival takes a full page (plus the entry and departure stamps, of course). Depending on the border crossing used, you might  be able to use a Cambodian eVisa, applied for online in advance. This only uses about half a page, as I recall. Just to repeat myself, if planning to use an eVisa, ensure you are using a border crossing that allows them.

Thanks for the clarification Tim,  looks like Malaysia is the only option for visa runs when short on pages.

  8. I agree if not short on time the green bus is fine I recently travelled to Nan by bus. Even if you don't book VIP seat its better using the VIP bus.

3500 Baht for 9 hours moving time is a very fair price. Basically 11 hours work for the driver, fuel costs etc

As opposed to Phuket/Samui where a 10 mins ride is 500++

  9. I did I visa in/out in August at Mae Sai very straight forward no questions or requirements. Only allowed to do two land crossings per calendar year.

I would rather be in a car than a bus for obvious reasons, you can actually enjoy the  scenery and stop where you like.

    Thanks
