  1. Hi Seligne2,

Sorry yes i should have stated we have separate accounts, so as my card is lost she would not be able to withdraw from it. But from your above comments i don't think this will be a problem as i can transfer the money to her BB account as soon as it hits my account. She will be getting a new card for her account on Monday.

    Thanks for your info.

  2. Hello

I regularly send payments to my Bangkok Bank Account, and my wife is able to withdraw amounts with my ATM card as i am back in the UK working for a few months.

The trouble is she lost her purse yesterday which contained both our ATM cards. This is not so much a problem for her as she can get a new card next week, but i don't think i will be able to get a new card until i return to Thailand.

So i have been on the Bangkok bank website and i see i can set up a third party transfer (one off or regular payment), which i am guessing i can set up as her account and as soon as my money gets to my account i can just log on and transfer the money to her account?

Anyone have experience of this? Does it work ok? I have emailed Bangkok Bank but as its the weekend i am not expecting a reply until Monday...at the earliest!

The website does state they will send me a One Time Passcode to my mobile to authorise the payment, just wondering if anyone has done this from outside of Thailand?

    Thanks in advance

  3. As i speak ,he has a fire the fil] going out the back of the shop, a large pot on top, boiling his holed underpants,i walked up behind him,the temptation to boil his head by forcing it in the frothing, boiling pot was almost overwhelming,a lack of wooden stakes, forced my hand,i retreated, plenty of time i muttered to myself, will get them tomorrow.

No wooden stakes? Got any vinyl laying around??

Alternatively get yourself holed up down the Winchester.

Seriously though all the best, it can drive you nuts.

  4. All joking aside, Prayuth is the prime reason why the patronage system in Thailand needs to stop. It`s patently obvious the man is rather dim, and has clearly got to where he is through family connections.

As much as I hate the politicians in the UK (and other Western societies), virtually all of them are highly educated and intelligent. This guy has such a low IQ he`d probably be classed as having learning difficulties.

There isn`t a day goes past where we don`t have to listen to one of his ignorant rants. It`s cringeworthy and the lasting damage to Thailand is there to see, more so than any previous military regime I would add.

I don't know what his IQ actually is - but I'm positive he doesn't suffer from learning difficulties. (People who do shouldn't be the source of fun or used as derogatory terms but if that's what rocks you so be it).

The Western mainstream politicians, certainly in the UK tend to have a university education, and post graduate qualifications these. They've usually served "apprentiships" within their chosen political party before being thrust into standing for parliament. Not sure local government politicians of of similar intelligence mind.

We do get some appointed to the Lords who have their challenges though.

He's not an academic, business person or long term politician. But a very senior military officer. His world view will be shaped by his own experiences, information acquired, training, life style norms and his capability to transform information into knowledge through action.

Would a brain surgeon automatically make a good politician? No more than a politician would make a brain surgeon. Why someone thinks a career soldier, who fair enough attained the highest of ranks, can suddenly switch to being a politician and run the country perfectly with no gaffes is bewildering. Cameron, Clegg and Milliband are experienced professionals - and they can't do it either.

Cameron, Clegg and Milliband are experienced professionals - and they can't do it either.???? Experienced in what? none of them have done a proper days work in their lives. Yet these are the people we get to elect. Same the world over.

As for Prayut again, what experience? So many bright shiny things on his uniform but for what? Being connected and paying for his promotions??

He'd probably lose a game of Stratego.

We are all governed by the elite for the elite.

  5. Well deserved 3 points jellydog whistling.gif

The whole back line needs a massive overhaul. Walker's positioning is farcical, its only pace that lets him get away with anything!!

We've agreed a deal to bring Austrian cb Kevin Wimmer in the summer from Cologne, not seen anything of him, hopefully he is the real deal. Any Bundesliga fans out there?

Poch needs to put his foot down and sort that defense out over the summer.

Lovely interplay from Ericksen and Kane at times, imagine where we would be with adebayor or soldado upfront blink.png

Paulinho was good when he came on.

Nothing is ever simple is it....

  6. I like your optimism tmaker

If you could let me know when we actually turn up it would be very much appreciated!

Be interesting to see if Poch can get any kind of reaction.....cos frankly that was shocking...

  7. Why are white people expats when the rest of us are immigrants?

In the lexicon of human migration there are still hierarchical words, created with the purpose of putting white people above everyone else. One of those remnants is the word “expat”.

What is an expat? And who is an expat? According to Wikipedia, “an expatriate (often shortened to expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than that of the person’s upbringing. The word comes from the Latin terms ex (‘out of’) and patria (‘country, fatherland’)”.

Defined that way, you should expect that any person going to work outside of his or her country for a period of time would be an expat, regardless of his skin colour or country. But that is not the case in reality; expat is a term reserved exclusively for western white people going to work abroad.

Africans are immigrants. Arabs are immigrants. Asians are immigrants. However, Europeans are expats because they can’t be at the same level as other ethnicities. They are superior. Immigrants is a term set aside for ‘inferior races’.

Don’t take my word for it. The Wall Street Journal, the leading financial information magazine in the world, has a blog dedicated to the life of expats and recently they featured a story ‘Who is an expat, anyway?’. Here are the main conclusions: “Some arrivals are described as expats; others as immigrants; and some simply as migrants. It depends on social class, country of origin and economic status. It’s strange to hear some people in Hong Kong described as expats, but not others. Anyone with roots in a western country is considered an expat … Filipino domestic helpers are just guests, even if they’ve been here for decades. Mandarin-speaking mainland Chinese are rarely regarded as expats … It’s a double standard woven into official policy.”

Is there any space in the development debate for African experts?

The reality is the same in Africa and Europe. Top African professionals going to work in Europe are not considered expats. They are immigrants. Period. “I work for multinational organisations both in the private and public sectors. And being black or coloured doesn’t gain me the term “expat”. I’m a highly qualified immigrant, as they call me, to be politically correct,” says an African migrant worker.

Most white people deny that they enjoy the privileges of a racist system. And why not? But our responsibility is to point out and to deny them these privileges, directly related to an outdated supremacist ideology. If you see those “expats” in Africa, call them immigrants like everyone else. If that hurts their white superiority, they can jump in the air and stay there. The political deconstruction of this outdated worldview must continue.

Are Australians, Poles, Romanians, and Bulgarians known as expats or immigrants in the uk? To people in the uk i am an expat, but living in another country the people of that said country would term me as an immigrant.

uness its Thailand of course where we're non immigrants.

  8. In answer to many of the replies, where have I stated that it is me that wants to marry a Cambodian girl. In my case I have just married a Thai girl and I am very happy with her. Also where have I stated that the Westerner is older than 50 years old. So now that we have got that out of the way can I please have some sensible answers to the questions I have asked.

Before you jump on the quality of the replies, consider the quality of your query.

Case in point RE your "clarification" .. can we agree that unless polygamy is the issue at hand, this sentence makes Zero Sense?

"I stated that it is me that wants to marry a Cambodian girl. In my case I have just married a Thai girl and I am very happy with her."

I have not clue one what that means...so do youreslf a favor...ask a good question before you expect a good answer.

Maybe, just maybe, if you included the whole sentence you would understand. Where have i stated......yep its a question, but he failed to end with a question mark.

  9. Only 1 change from the Swansea game, Davies in for Rose. Surprised he didn't mix it up slightly more, but maybe his 1st 11 is now pretty nailed on? Be nice to see a settled side.

Not very up to speed with QPR, is their right winger good?

Rio is well past his sell by date, lets get at him!

    COYS

  10. Wouldn't say it was because of no leader Rij, Walker switched off.

Disappointing to say the least. Had a lot of possession but didn't create enough. First half i thought we were the better side. Didn't deserve to go in 1-0 down.

    2nd goal killed us.

Young team, experience gained, Good job we have time to recuperate......oh 2 whole days then Swansea at home <deleted> angry.gif.pagespeed.ce.l3zkt7JShRzHMKd9L
