  1. ....on the way home from all day session with few of my mates ........

....i wandered over to the drinks fridge to get a few Chang Large for a nightcap...

    ...no further comment needed :D:D:D

Yep sounds about right to be prepared to stand there for 30 minutes piecing it together & come to think about it she must of been hungryer than you thats why she asked you cut or no cut :)

  2. yeh I pay 5 baht per unit too. My bill doubled when I put in the airconditioner!!!

[but it's worth it - it's still about a third of what I was paying in Australia]

Sure is I have a big place with no air con or electic hot water but have water pump from tank in all i would say 6 people use the dwellings & we pay 800 bht a month

  3. A lady traveling as a tour guide :D

I guess she forgot to say that only one male tourist, she will be guiding. And yes 30,000 is too high for a non educated Thai gal unless you are beautiful and work in a massage place, giving special massages :D

Have to agree there, just like a couple of girls from the village went to phuket. They actually went for a massage job but I`m wandering who will end up doing the massaging.

& as for this thai girl being a tour guide in another country sounding like it`s her first time, why would they pay her that much when they could get a local that knows the country & pay them a very good wage of 10,000 bht if their lucky :)

  4. Ye write DIAGNOSED ! the only thing they forgot to tell yu was which doctor. GET IT the Village WICH DOCTOR :):D

& if he`s 99 then the carers can do it :D with no goverment alltopsy & send him on his way OR :D was it because he was an old monk with no one. THIS HAPPENED ACROSS THE ROAD FROM ME LAST MONTH. & WITH ALL GREAT RESPECT TO THE MONK :D

  5. gooday all

heading back to oz tommorow at noon & am hearjng many stories about the traffic tommorow since all are ending their holidays.

Family is saying it`s ok in the morning, so i am hoping it`s not another mai pen rai.

    coming from Korat

So what are your thoughts & experiences :)

  6. Amazing Thailand!!!

Police interrogated the driver of the bus Mr. Suraporn Faksomboon [40], he declared that he had picked the tour group up from an unknown hotel in Jomtien...

YEP yu have to laugh at that one ! if i had a bus for 20 tourists ready to be scammed i would certainly like to know where they are to be picked up :)

  7. More windbaggerry from the "United Nations". It's a pity that they can't find something useful to do like stopping genociuude and religiously based slaughter. Still I suppose it's easier to stop road accidents.

Yep would have to agree, maybe if they got of their high horse & realise in what countries they are trying to achieve these things in EG: more like the nations with big banks / insurance companies & the buisiness men running them with their hidden interests behind them as well.

Because their not stoping the kids on motor bikes darting in front of yu & risking life & limb then turning around & blaming the foriegner! maybe thats why they might try :)

  8. ok he`s over seas with yu, so he has a thai passport i presume, so i`m presuming he must of had to give some evidence of his residence in thailand to obtain passport.

as mentioned compolsury to do the amphur ball draw & if draw to enter it is for 2yrs anytime upto 30 yrs old.

OR not wishing to take the 50-50 chance you can volunteer to do a 6 mth stint

I GOT THIS INFO FROM KORATFRANG TOPIC

  9. This tragedy - sad to say - I believe this is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Thailand medical industry.

It is a shame that it seems to have taken the efforts of someone with a bit of "clout" to suffer at there hands before it comes to light.

It is also unfortunate that many westerners seem to judge a hospital by it's furniture and equipment rather than the nature of the people who work there.

there will be literally hundreds of people who have received treatment in Thai hospitals who leave as happy, satisfied customers – after the stress of being in hospital it is only natural for people to feel relieved when they get out.........however the sad case is that even when all is well they leave with no real idea as whether the treatment they had was the most appropriate, e.g cheapest, only alternative etc........

people rely on doctors and put a huge amount of (sometimes unwarranted) trust in them - when they leave hospital they are told that if they hadn't been treated things could have been much worse - but are they as good as they should be???? - The hospitals rely on the "feelgood factor" and the ignorance of their patience to get away with "blue murder" there are few effective checks and balances in the Thai system and mistakes are either covered up or put down as "just one of those things".

Many will site the scandals in Western hospitals – but these scandals can only occur when there is and EFFECTIVE CHECKING system in place that will reveal such problems – in Thailand this does not happen.

I agree with the hype that we foriegners look at the nice wrappings & knowing that they must have all because their private BUT is not the case.

Up here in the Korat area the doctors cover all the hospitals as a thai man told me whilst waiting outside the local government hospital

& yes it`s all about money & time & facilities as my wife was forced to have a scessarian at the public hospital due to the private ones not having an emergency unit for babies. but since being abroad & not knowing what technique they were going to do (this is where thai don`t care because they are in the hands of the all mighty doctor with a degree) i would of taken her to a private one. Then i wouldn`t of had to watch the dog chewing on someone disposed of part :)

  10. gooday all, merry xmas & good new year.

looking for a chalete near chonburi for 8 people for just 1 night (new years) but most likely impossible, so that`s ok.

close to the beach as possible would be good as mother can not walk to far

    thanks all

  11. OK first of all i can`t understand why yu are after a 1 way ticket as i`m sure the immi would want to see a return flight as he is on a visa & yu say he has a good job & maybe yu to so between the both of yu going through the process i find this storie a little strange.

& yes yu pay more for one way

  12. sorry to hear that you came across a moron such as this.

Here is a picture of one in this thread

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...2&hl=yellow. Officially, they are called a Tor. Ror 13 (see top right hand corner.

take it to show him. He probably wants a bribe from you. Bloody hill billies.

If he wants to know why you want one, tell him you need it as an offical Thai ID to show you have residency in Thailand, to open bank accounts etc etc, and that it is needed for applying for Thai citizenship which you hope to apply for one day.

To get a liscence i was told to be in the BLUE book & as for the bank account an official noticed i was putting large sums into a bangkok branch bank & not issan so he said bring your passbook & you can have one here in your name.

Oh yes I also was asked why i wanted to be in book & i said i needed to get thai lisence. but i got the impression that she was`t happy about it as she gave me a bit of a frown as we were leaving :)

  13. I find this yellow book thing intersting, because as mentioned is there a real use for it other than to prove you live at such a such address as mentioned by Issan lawyers (verify). In my view i am going to be logged in the house BLUE book only needing 2 high profile people from village & the usual 10 pages of translated documents.

So here`s athought WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THIS SCENARIO ?

  14. That she stood as guarantor means that she has to pay in case the original debtor doesn't, as now seems to be the case. Seems strange that they go to court for only a few months and not just ask your wife to pay the terms, without going to court first.

When the car is paid for, believe your wife can sell it to get (some of) her money back.

Well Well ! yet another storie of thai shall get car & make lots of money selliing whatever & not realising the costs.

Bad enough from a thai family member net alone a so called friend.

Nearly been there before so did some checking & the only way for her to become guarantor would be to have a nicely balanced bankbook (like my wifes was when building house ) I SAID NO because this would then put the house in the line of fire of selling & she would have the balance taken out of her half.

So mother hocked her land/house & yes just start here from the begining (they still seem to have possession some how :)

  15. Wonderful things those zappers. Haven't seen them for sale for some time. Are they still available? Unable to import them into Australia - they still have signs at Australian airports warning people they are a prohibited import.

    Peter

Do you know why ? :)

YES!!!!! the aussie gov. is so f*kd up with all their boards & policies that preach laws & regulations to us, because they think we have no common sense. & if the child does get zapped it might learn & be smarter than the parent for leaving it on within reach in the first place

    Peter

Do you know why ? :)

YES !!!!! becuase the aussie gov. & laws are so f*kd up from the thousands of different boards. & if adaults leave them on in reach of children then it`s there fault & lack of common sense (which i think the aussie gov think we no have from the millions of policies they have) that the child would be zapped, & maybe end up smarter then them as not to do it again

  17. No I had a multi entry exp on the 18/11/09 in old passport but now reading your reply Lizzy i think they took it upon themselves to restamp it as a 90 day single entry as it was the day befor it expired giving me a 30 day extension from the expiry date & maybe having already had an extension they only gave me 30 days at the border

  18. A land border run receives a 15 day entry - not 30 days. Please check your passport and if stamp is 30 days check with immigration before the first 15 days are up to apply for the 60 day extension of stay - if the stamp is a mistake they could refuse extension after 15 days.

Looking at passport now & the stamp says new passport replaces old one NON IMM visa admitted 21/09/09 until 19/12/09 so i still can`t see why it`s not 90 days

I even asked him why not 90 days as i mentioned it was a NON O & he said where no have

but as you mentioned i will go to the local office with th wife to check

thanks for the help as we all know thailands response vary throughout

oh yes new stamp 18/12/09/to 16/01/10

  19. allways worrying thoughts when having children especially your first, but as the members are saying, loosen up a little.

& yes you have moved to a cultural change but that`s not to say it can`t happen back home.

I`m sure that someone a little drunk at the backyard bbq has done the same but as we men know women are a very protective species & would cut out the gooley`s if anything happened (i`m sure it wasn`t your wifes fault IT`S A THAI THING

I have a beautiful 1 year old lad which the women adore, & often go outside & ask where he is if not with my wife, but found him across the road with sister in the house of neighour & they all look after him.

It`s common for us farangs to worry Maybe that`s why wwe are in Thai NO WORRY :) & i myself worry a littlle but think of the above
