  1. Pattaya/Thailand can be a real minefield if you look for a boyfriend. If you just visit from time to time maybe you wont notice and live in bliss waiting from holiday to holiday, fine, maybe you can only commit 14 days a year anyway.

    However if living in Thailand some stories dont hold up pretty long.

    I think the best way is never to offer anything upfront when trying to get romantically involved

    (many farang try to offer stuff and money even without ever being asked,

    s/o wd be crazy not to accept it) and decline when being asked for something.

    If they still stay with you/ keep in touch : bingo! love story!

    This way is slower and more difficult; maybe you ll have to date a little before jumping into the sack, maybe the prospective partner will look at your qualities, level of education etc with as much expectation as you do.

    Otherwise you can get off most easily by paying per trick and see it as it is : prostitution.

    Many people mix up their categories: lust, love, lucre and then will wail : WHAT HAPPENED? :o

  2. A good, human and Englisspeaking psychiatrist is Dr Anekvit in Bangkok General.

    Counseling from certified American and English psychologists can be obtained at PSI 9/ Sukumvit soi 43

    02/262 0605, 01-924-7710

    I wish you well.

  3. The information on this site about hiv (visa and risk of contamination) is false and insulting. To have an opinion that differs ok, but to misinform and mis-moderate is unacceptable. You can count me out.

  4. Hi Suzy,

    I m on combi and viramune (those names!)

    1/ In Th it works out at 600 thb a day,

    in Europe it s more expensive, but

    2/I have social security coverage in EU (expat branch) and they have an agreement with a pharmacist in my hometown to pay the drugs to him directly instead of me paying the pharmacist first and the asking repayment from social security.(third party payment)

    3/friends pick up the medicine and send it to me;

    this has worked for 7 years;

    Maybe some elements of my MO are useful to you, best wishes

  5. Bangkok General Hospital 02 310 3000,

    Samitivej Hospital Sukumvit soi 19,

    have psychiatrists as do the other bigger general hospitals,

    appointments may take a while, there are not enough psychiatrists,

    so maybe better go to a generalist in a hospital for an acute problem/diagnosis who will refer then.

    As with so many things the doctors tend to prescribe rather more than less medication.

  6. I had also a bad experience.

    Once I felt quite weak and asked my blood to be tested on heavy metal particles (Bangkok, pollution),

    As I went for the results the dr said "no lead in your blood but you have HIV", in an almost triumphant way;

    I told him I didnt ask him to check that and that in my own country I cd have sued him for doing that;

    In retrospect it was maybe for the better, but later when I searched for his name in my medical file, which a more sympathetic doctor showed me, the test results and the name of that dr were missing.

  7. Hi I m new on this board,

    the idea of forming a support group is something that I wd like to help with,

    but I m a little afraid of all the differences in coverage and comfort of people confronted to this problem together , I mean someone who has insurance coverage or who experiences little health problems as opposed to somebody in a situation without medicine or funds;

    diagnosed seven years ago this is how I do it:

    for my work permit health certificate I just go to a small "clinic" and they give me one for 100 thb:

    so while with a so called communicable disease you are not officially welcome , in reality it doesn t seem to be a big problem;

    my meds are sent to me from abroad, that s also not allowed but hey;

    if I have a problem I go to a specialist in a big hospital, I have coverage thru my contract with a company abroad,

    sorry if I stay a little vague, I m not sure if my privacy is sufficiently protected using this medium, GOOD LUCK to all.
