  1. This warning was sent today by email from a friend

In the coming days, you should be aware.....Do not open any message with an attachment called: Invitation FACEBOOK, regardless of who sent it. It is a virus that opens an OlympIc torch that burns the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone you had in your address book. That's why you should send this message to all your contacts. It is better to receive this email 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive an email called: Invitation FACEBOOK, though sent by a friend, do not open it and delete it immediately. It is the worst virus announced by CNN. A new virus has been discovered recently that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

It is a Trojan Horse that asks you to install an adobe flash plug-in. Once you install it, it's all over. And there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information of their function is saved.

There is also a link for more information which I have not opened and do not want to post here in case the warning is a scam. Can pm the link if anyone is interested.

  2. Accessing files through Microsoft Network is pretty difficult unless you use another Microsoft device. Meaning it will be a bit complicated, whether you choose iPad or Android based tablets.

There are, however, other solutions that could answer your questions.

For small documents (word, etc..) , as the previous poster suggested, going through a cloud sync with dropbox (or sugarsync) could be the solution.

But if you want to access files like music, video and pictures, I'd recommend to use Skifta http://www.skifta.com/ , which is based on DLNA protocol (supported by many devices and operating system, including Windows 7 and the latest TV sets).

Thanks for the Skifta recommendation, just checked it out and looks really usefull. Going slightly of subject

as well as using Dropbox, I find Hotmail Sky Drive is a lot more acommodating for sharing files than attachments

  3. Showing Monday 23rd Jan at 06:30am on Sophon Cable Astro SuperSport 2

  4. You are on a 1 year extension of stay that was issued on 24 November 2011. You have to report your address every 90 days to immigration in Pattaya (Jomtein). Your first report date should be 21 February 2012. You will need to complete a TM7 form and submit copies of certain pages of your passport. Someone that uses Jomtien will post telling you exactly what pages you need to copy. If you want to leave Thailand, you must purchase a re-entry permit: Single-1000 baht, double 3800 baht. If you leave without a re-entry permit your permission to stay will terminate and you'll have to start the process all over again. When you do your first 90 days report I would advise that you ay least purchase a single entry re-entry permit in case of an emergency. Good luck and Welcome!

Did my 90 day report this week at Chonburi Imigration Office at Jomtein.

    Submitted the following docs:

    Passport

    Completed TM47 form

1 copy of passport ID page

1 copy of TM8 Departure Card

1 copy of current permission to stay stamp

    Proof of of current residence

    No probs.

  5. Here is what works for me. There may be one or two extra copies here, someone may correct.

    Photos? None.

Fill out one copy of Form TM.47 at the office

Proof of current residence, typically copy of utility bill, rental lease, etc.

    One copy passport ID page

    One copy original visa page

One copy current permission to stay stamp page

One copy latest immigration entry stamp page

One copy airport landing card (stapled in passport)

One copy may cover more than one of above items.

    I think overkill a bit.

Did my 90 day report yesterday at Chonburi Imigration Office at Jomtein.

    Completed TM47 form

1 copy of passport ID page

1 copy of TM8 Departure Card

1 copy of current permission to stay stamp

  6. Check out pinned notice at the start of the Pattaya forum

When I went in Nov the temp British Consulate was a British lady who came down from the Bangkok Embassy. Her assistance was a Thai English speaking lady. Both very helpful.

"Thank-you very much for taking the time to do that."

Likewise, MJCM - I can't imagine how you did that, but I doubt that Sophon even has a list that comprehensive! -- When I asked their VP for a list of the new channels, he couldn't supply one.

Maybe you should offer it to them in exchange for knocking a few months off your Cable bill . . . wai.gif

    .

Thanks Guys, but as usual this was a useless exercise as Sophon did again do a Channel Reshuffle, so that list is not 100% accurate anymore sad.png

I will compose a new list but will do it after the new year after Sophon has stopped doing their reshuffling and has gone up to a total of 100 (as promised) Channels.

So stay tuned wink.png And a Happy New Year to you all.

Any chance you can also include the fre

Would be really grateful if you could also include the frequency/MHz for the channels as my tv does not have an automatic channel search.

  8. The song that is most pertinent to Pattaya, (It should be the Pattaya anthem) is of course ' Is She Really Going Out With Him' By Joe Jackson. The opening line, 'Pretty Women Out Walking With Gorillas Down My Street' says it all really! Now i would go a long way to see a Thai band bashing that one out.

This one would really crack me up as well....

A great song by a great band. Saw them in their pomp a few times and they were the real deal. Shane would surely have been a sexy man in Pattaya ! But i still rest my case with Joe Jackson. Surely Joe must have come to Pattaya on his holidays before he was famous! Any chance of somebody who is more computer savvy than me posting a link to youtube so the TV readers can judge for themselves! I would just love to sit in Soi 7 or Soi Buakhow people watching whilst this song was being played!

  9. Thai teenager Kittiphong Pluemjai has been offered a trial stint by Leicester City.

The 18 year-old is currently on the books of Norwegian outfit SK Brann but will spend up to ten days training with City's reserve squad beginning next week.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson will cast an eye over Pluemjai before deciding whether or not to pursue his interest in the youngster

"This is an interesting opportunity for me. I'll be training with Leicester's reserve team for a week or two," Pluemjai told bt.no.

"I'm excited to show what I can do."

City are owned by Thai duty-free tycoon Vichai Raksriaksorn and the East Midlands club have a huge following in the South East Asian country.

Raksriaksorn is a strong proponent of developing Asian talent at the club and he will be hoping Pluemjai has the talent to earn a contract at the King Power Stadium.

  10. " What is essential, however, is for the Kingdom to have a "clear rule" that governs the way various authorities talk with one another. "We try to make water [a] non-political issue in Holland."

    Exit De Vliegende Hollander

In England we have saying when someone is talking "double dutch", it means they are talking rubbish.

But the remark from 'mahtin' was spot on. 'non-political issue' -> exit

Take this from your local Dutch uncle :)

Dutch uncle is a English term for a person who issues frank, harsh, and severe comments and criticism to educate, encourage, or admonish someone. Thus, a "Dutch uncle" is a person who is rather the reverse of what is normally thought of as avuncular or uncle-like (which would be indulgent and permissive).

    Very apt.
