  1. i need to buy some trainer pants.. and new running shoes.. have been in emporium and siam square but didn't really come across a nice big sports store with allot of choice (or maybe i missed it)anyone know a good one?

  2. im going to be bring 2 laptops with me a net-book and a pretty good size laptop so advice would be great

so what you are saying is you are going to bring 3-4 laptops ????

some advice 1 laptop is enough..!! specially if u are traveling all over ! from experience i can tell u the laptop always makes my luggage allot heavier and i just own one..

  3. dont listen to all these scared little people here... nothing wrong with a little adventure..

thailand is pretty safe.. just make sure you have some money somewhere for an emergency if you have to leave or have a situation..take care of your visa (u can always do a visa run)

and maybe ask (if u can) for your parents or some family to keep that emergency money for you... always let somebody know where u are and you will be at no more risk than somewhere else

just a question if u never left the US why is your english so poor

  4. Under the BTS at Saphan Kwai.

A biggish Honda dealership. Owner is Korean or Chinese, fluent in English, no BS about him, tells you what is wrong, what you need, what each part will do, and how much it will cost.

I'd be lost without that shop, I don't take my bike anywhere else.

And it's cheap too. New spark plug, air filter, carb clean for my CBR is about 280b. Michelin tyres there were cheaper than anywhere on the net.

    great info ! thnx

    will check it out tomorrow

  5. On the other hand, if she was having an affair, this means that she probably had unprotected intercourse on more than one occasion. This would necessitate that the male partner undergo the required tests for STIs and HIV. Not a pleasant suggestion, but, it's best to get on to it now than to wait for a disease to manifest itself.

u are absolutely right... its unbelievable if u think about it..

u think u are safe having sex with g/f and in the meanwhile she banged by one or more thai sleazebags.. who carries who knows what.. show that u always have to be careful

  6. In Thailand, family comes first. The sooner you realize that the better. Sounds like your girlfriend was under pressure from family to scam you. and, in Thailand, that is not considered wrong. Live and learn. Luckily, 27,000 baht is not a huge loss and a fairly cheap lesson. What doesn't kill or maim us makes us stronger and wiser.

what a crock of BS... the G/F knows very dam_n well that if she scams her BF that is wrong... asking for a temporary loan for a car and not paying back is wrong and they probably know that very dam_n well some people here talk like thai people are like monkeys or from another planet...

like i said... bad sign ! if my girl pulls a stunt like this she better be looking for a new place.. either ask for the money and be honest or dont how can u trust someone who tricks her own BF blink.gif

  7. You could have a look at Sakura Dojo, Sukumvhit 33/1 (in the World Video Bldg) 4th Floor...

I have no idea about the style/instruction or schedule though.

Thank you, I'll (try) and check that out.

Meanwhile, in the absence of other suggestions, I am thinking of trying out takewondo :)

Well if you had of said you were not serious......lol. 30yr Kyokushin vet, I would back my training against Muay Thai anyday, live near 3 schools, watch them all the time. They watch me, funny how they never come over and mouth off. There is a free school you should try if your a newb in Chulalongkorn uni gym, its on almost every night.

    Oz

all the muay thai fighters are probably so scared off you cheesy.gif

  8. Maybe its a status thing to show that they dont work on rice farms. :ermm:

What makes me gag is those geezers that have the big mole with the extended hair follicles. Is it a Chinese thing?

ahw yes thats discusting and most of those guys probably have this in combi with the long fingernails

    i just dont get it

I hear ya. Kinda like the 'mullet' or pony tails on farangs, Thais don't get those either :whistling:

i see thai guys with pony tails and mullet like haircuts all the time... where do u live? cave maybe wink.gif

and still IMO there is a difference between a guy's haircut and them having long fingernails and 2 inch (or more)hairs growing out of their moles...

  10. Well, this isnt nearly as bad as the time some farm girl started CLIPPING her toenails on the BTS, foot up across her other leg with her clipped toenails flying towards peoples mouths. And crowded too, was pretty much the single most outrageous thing I have ever seen in my life. Good times.

did u catch some shrapnel ?
  11. try muay-thai or BJJ.. enough of that in bkk and 10 times better

why spend allot of time on a martial art wich is easily overpowerd by other martial arts.. seems like a waste of time 2 me

like taking a windows 98 course when there is windows vista course

    Bull sh*t

I am a 4th degree black belt in tae-kwon-do. I have met many muay-thai fighters in completion and beat them. Some are good, some not so good, in every form of martial arts. Up to the individual and heart. The best in the end is MMA which takes the best from them all suited to the individual

you are missing the point... im not saying any muay-thai fighter can beat every blackbelt karataka or taekwondo that is indeed bull sh*t.. and it is indeed an individual case and im talking at equal levels... i would like to see the best karate or tae-kwon-do fighter stand in the ring against guys like badr hari or buakaw por pramuk with their guard up high and their devestating low kicks... in the ring its just not going to happen if we are talking MMA rules (wich is the most fair to see who's the better fighter)... and that tells me wich martial art is more effective.. thats why they invented MMA so they can actually see what is actually the best... and that would be a mixture of BJJ/wrestling/sambo and boxing/muay-thai

  12. try muay-thai or BJJ.. enough of that in bkk and 10 times better

You havent even the slightest clue what you are talking about. Research kyokushin karate since this is a karate thread, I trained muay thai for years and fought in the ring, none of it compared to simple training sessions in kyokushin where we stand there and hit eachother as hard as we can bare knuckle. Toughest man wins. And then fighting at tournaments? If you are winning try fighting 10 guys one after the other with no protective gear whatsoever (except a cup) all full contact and pushing through the numerous injuries you have already sustained in the previous fights, makes muay thai look like a pussys sport.

think u dont have the slightest idea what ur talking about

in my eyes you are naive if u think that a combination of BJJ/wrestling and muay-thai isn't the best martial art...by that i mean the most effective in the ring... in my eyes PRIDE proved this a long time ago... all those number one karate guys get their asses whooped by guys like wanderlei silva, mirco crocop etc etc.. now if u are a fan of karate or tekwandeau or whatever well go ahead...

If i do a martial art i want to be the toughest (BTW its got nothing to do with streetfighting like that corky-man said)

you probably will never get that far but still martial arts is a competitive sport... and u wanna get tough

now if i spend 15 years to get a black belt karate and u put me in the ring (mma rules wich is the ultimate test) with a black belt BJJ artist or a class A muay thai fighter i will 80% of the time get whiped of the mat

well IMO i've wasted my time im sorry thats just the way i look at it... and allot off mayor martial arts specialist will agree with me..

    my 2 cents

  13. i want to buy a load of those cool blackberry covers (plastic) i see them all arround MBK but still are like 400 to 700 baht a pop was wondering if anyone knows a cheap place to buy those?

and i was also wondering if its possible to print something on them?

  14. stay away from those overcrowded shopping mall like gyms... (if u can)

I signed with cali wow for a year and just left... threw away 8000B.

couldn't stand that f*cking place... full of thai superdudes and annoying personal trainers...

I've tried them all true-first-cali all a big bunch off nothing... really its impossible for me to focus 100% on my training in those places.. ive found a gym where the thai bodybuilding team trains since i train there ive made the gains of my lifewink.gif great motivation there..

all those other places: pure torture.. still angry at myself that ive donated a portion off my money to that place bah.gif

Do you mean the Powerzone gym? What are they charging on memberships? Does it get busy after work and weekends?

    yes powerzone gym

    1200 baht for a month

it gets a bit busier after work but at cali wow it was always busy and after work hours it was just unbareable

powerzone gym until 6pm its just great 2 train there.. after well a bit more busy but at least a good atmosphere

great gym IMO.. at least its hardcore en no thai superdudes

  15. well maybe you are right

who am i to judge anybody if thats your point..just looking for an explanation and giving my opinion.. all those thing above are usualy things worn by people who are trying to look alternitive.. specialy the last 3 and are not considered normal... not saying u have to be

but the women im talking about are usually normal looking.. sometimes business women, mothers or massage girls.... generaly ''normal people''... thats what makes me wonder why would they ware their nails like that its clearly a ''normal thing'' here and cant possibly imagine that any man would like that..

but im staring to get the feeling there are some guys here with gf/wifes with razorblade toenails wink.gif
