That's highway consumption then? What do you get in urban areas?

I don't live in BKK, but I get 7.1/2lt = 100km where I live. Mind you stuck in traffic like BKK no cars will get good mileage. Why I quoted long runs was because the OP said he got about half of what I was getting. He also asked if what he was getting was good. I was just pointing out IMO he wasn't. N/B most of the long runs I do, does include going round BKK on the 9 A/R with speeds as pointed out at around 120kph depending on traffic. Taking all into consideration not to bad for a Tank of a Motor.

  2. To answer the OP question is his car economical? well the answer is a BIG NO. Now if he had obtained a 2.8lt Toyota Tuner and put in 2000bht worth of Shell V power diesel he could have traveled well over 1000km. Or around double what the OP got. My Tuner returns around 6.1 LT = 100 km on a run. Not just once all the time. Must admit I don't go much more than 110kph on normal roads 120kph on M Ways due to all the cameras and use C/C as much a poss. To save you working it out that's around 45/6 miles per Imp Gallon. I think great for a tank of a motor.

The 2.8 Fortuna TRD Sport was factory fitted with 20" and has different shocks to the standard models.  I assume those shocks have different specs to work better with the 20". I was concerned about impact on ride quality but it does not seem any worse. Prior to buying this we had rented several Fortuners with smaller alloys so we did have something to compare to.

But yes in the distant past with my cars a couple of times I've fitted larger aftermarket alloys with low profile tyres and always regretted it. Looked great,  and better ultimate grip, but a very crashy ride and the extra rolling resistance and extra weight resulted in noticeably heavier fuel consumption as well.

Not only different shocks but different springs and brakes. I always put 29 psi all round as per their suggestions. Its fab on fuel Av: 6.2LT = 100km on a run around 7LT in town.  Also rides very well. You can sling it into corners without any movement or lean. Far better than my old TRD Tuna and 1,000 time better than my old 4x4 Vigo. I used to loose the rear on that most of the time. Due to it's small rims and balloon tires. Great fun but suggest you don't try it.

Anyone know if the gyms are closed?

As of tomorrow everything is closed. Massage shops. Bars. Gyms. +++++ No going on the beach only for a walk. About the only things that are open will be food places, restaurants super markets. The latter can sell Booze but for T/A only. Restaurants cant sell booze and all must close by 9pm bit later but for T/A food only. There's not a lock down but as good as. To end on a good note you can so far still get your hair cut.

So far so good. I normally pay for 3 months at a time. But as you say they keep updating their product by paying 3 months you sometime loose out on a new set up. Will be paying AIS 1 month at a time and see how they function in the next few months. As said very happy so far. I'll give it a month and maybe upgrade to their 500mb set up. Every little helps with the Android TV BOX. At present that's running in the background. In the past I could never get both running at the same time due to lack of internet M/B.

Have just done a speed test with my new AIS 200MB set up and I'm getting 346mbps down load and a bit more up load. No buffering on my android box, and comp: is fast. I'll see how it goes for the next month or so before I update to their 500MB set up. But if it carries on like it is I won't bother.

  6. 6 months ago I had a rear tooth crown done at Smile dentist in Pattaya Klang. Didn't have an appointment just walked in. They did a top class job. Total cost was 8k BHT. I didn't think that was to bad. Now the big thing have I had any problems well no. They also speak good English.

I think most providers have been upgrading their connections and upgrading packages, but you need to keep an eye on what they offer. I have been well happy with 3BB over the 10 years.

One thing I found out that if you have problems with your connection, like you have, then you need to have the opportunity to get a callback from the ISP team, the back room boffins and a visit from “real” technicians, not the guys with a bamboo ladder and a smile.
I just changed to AIS mobile, I was really impressed with their phone help desk, every question was ‘yes, that’s not a problem’ I hope you experience the same for their internet.

I get great speeds with TOT and they always upgrade us to new packages without us having to do anything (something some other providers don't do).

Well your lucky. I was paying for 300mb and was lucky to get the low teens. I looked on Monday and it was fluctuating between 11 & 17MB. Down load. Zero MB upload & on F/Optic. I would have suffered 100 but the low teens just isn't good enough. That was it so I changed.

N/B I took their box back yesterday and told them I didn't want their set up. And they wanted to charge me 1.758bht to stop it. Bearing in mind that I have been with them for the last 8 years, & I had paid for 3 months in advance also had 2.5 months left to run I thought that a bit of a rum deal. They settled for a paper hat = 0 bht as that was all I was prepared to pay. And you tell me they are good??? Thank your lucky stars that they treat you OK.

Have just done a speed test and I'm getting 239 MB download 231 MB upload A tad better than the 10 to 17MB that TOT gave me.

152 Mbps( 19 MB/s) wasn't fast enough for an Android Box??

200 Mbps equals 25 MB/s. Did it make a difference to the streaming?

TOT was all over the place sometimes I would get 11 MBPS or none at all. The live streaming then was rubbish. With the new AIS 200 MBPS set up so far seems to be very good. I have a Beelink A/Box that seems to be very good. My old A/Box H96 Max was always slow to get any channels. That still works OK with AIS not that I use it much. Still have both connected one via HDMI 1 and the other HDMI 2. Now can use either. NB haven't tried TV today as have just obtained a new comp: and have been setting it up.

Some of you seem to be Ok with TOT. That's more than I can say how I find them. I don't need a large download speed so went for their 300MB F/Optic set up. Cheap as chips at 321bht a month inc: Just one minor problem have just checked their speed and I'm only getting 19MB a sec: download. Rubbish. It's been like that for months all over the place, and they cant seem to sort out the problem. Off this morning to AIS as they at least seem to be giving good download speed. I'll give another update once I have installed AIS. For me TOT is goner.

As promised update. Went into AIS yesterday filled forms 20min: They arrived this morning 9am, ran new F/Optic cable fitted new Modem. All sorted by 10.30am. All working fine now with 200+mb. They don't do 300mb only 200 or 500 went for the 200mb set up. If I want to I can change to 500mb later. Without changing anything. Cost at present 399bht a month. OK a tad more than TOT but better faster setup. Why I need a faster set up is to run my TV android box. That so far is working great.

Slower than the 2nd coming AND E 522.????

I have found the clue to all this E 522 lark. Having tried several times this morning to put a post in and failed. Have decided to give Thai Visa a wide berth till they sort it out. If everyone does the same, they might do something about their site. I don't need a reply as I'm now signed out and gone.

As a diesel engineer, I can see the benefit of burning premium diesel once every 10 fill ups but using ordinary diesel in any diesel engine is just fine. Every 10,000 Km, Ford puts in a small bottle of injector cleaner in a full tank of what I thought was normal grade diesel. I found out later that in 2014, Thailand made all grades of diesel B7 including premium. I haven't had any issues burning normal grade of diesel so I think it is OK to use B7. However Premium also contains B7 so the difference is only the additive. In the long run, in my opinion if you put the injector cleaning chemical in your fuel tank once every 10,000 Km, you will be fine but keep in mind that Bio diesel made with palm oil in Europe is now banned mainly because of the rain forest deforestation. So the less you use of palm oil the better. Unfortunately the powers that be want you to support their palm oil industry and that is really sad for the human race. Going to B10 will be doing even more damage to the environment.

Remember that Premium diesel is a marketing issue, if they can squeeze some more money out of you at the PPT or Shell gas stations their stock price will go up! Remember that the dealer where you bought your car or truck will tell you to burn premium but my guess is that those same people that tell you that will buy ordinary diesel in their own cars. The best is to start looking at electric or hydrogen vehicles which is going to be imposed on everyone in the next 20 years anyway. Internal combustion engines have a very limited future just like the horse in the end of the 10th century!

I have no doubt that your correct. In my case a full tank, unless I was doing a big run (not likely with this Covid 19 thing) will last me almost 2 months. So every 9 months I will need to put injector fluid cleaner in. Last time I looked that was around 400+BHT. I thought that Pre: diesel had that in already, so no need to stick it in. OK Pre: is more expensive but by the time you work it out for me not worth the effort.

Now if you are doing big Mileage/KM it would make a big difference using the B7 as against Pre.

N/B I used to use Pre: in my last 3lt chipped Tuna. That used to drink fuel. Owned that for almost 9 years and never a problem with injectors. Hopefully should never??? have a problem with the 2.8lt Tuna injector's. Who knows.

Just be aware that Premium is just B7 with some additives. If you buy the additive at the auto parts store and add it to your tank when filling, you should save a lot of money. However as a diesel engineer, I find that these additives are not very useful with diesel engines.

Thank you for the information. Sorry to much of a bother. If you think anyone/I'm going to buy additives, then work out how much to put in then Guess/amount of fuel? it would take to fill the tank. Just not going to happen. I might save a 100bht on a full tank + time to set everything up.

So much easier to just pull up tell the staff how much I want or fill the tank up and drive off. Life's to short to faff about trying to save a few pence.

If it was a hire car I would put the cheapest stuff in as long as it works. But having been recommended by Toyota to use Pre: in the 2.8lt that's what I will continue to do. Old adage if you cant afford to run a car you shouldn't buy one.

I think @fredob43 is an exclusive Shell man and has dabbled with different grades.

For long distance driving, I have found PTT have always had the most efficient pump stations, even before they tied in with 7-eleven and Amazon on the concourse. Clean rest rooms and ATM machines too. Now that I'm not traveling so much, I still use them. The three nearest pump stations to my home were PTT but there's a new Shell station that's closest but I won't change.

Mrs NL preferred Bangchak when we had the CR-V so maybe that was the free water thing?

For your information I use any Premium Diesel I don't Dabble as long as it's Pre: We have two garages on top of us 1 PTT and a Shell whatever one I'm passing I use. Pre in PTT, V power Shell.

Some will come back with it cost more. For the amount of Mileage/KM I do a year it's not worth bothering about Cost. Added to the above I haven't a clue what all the new grades are. So easy for me to stick to Pre:

There was an earlier post for a Ford 3.2 that's returning 9lt =100km on a run, using a lower 7/10 grade? that compares with my 6.2lt =100km. 1/3 better using Pre: so you can make your own mind up who gets the better Mileage using what grade. Then again it could be down to how one drives and at what speed. Or 1 a Ford and 1 a Toyota???

  17. When I first got my 2.8 Tuna they gave me a chitty to fill it up. They said put in premium Diesel. As they were paying did just that. Have used it ever since.

Is it any better who knows, but it does return on a run 6.2lt = 100km. Bit more around 7.2lt in town. For a big lump think that's good. I did at one time fill up at PTT using their premium and it seemed a tad low on power. So next time filled up with Shell V power. The power came back. Not sure if PTT had given me a different speck. Who knows what comes out of any pump??? Have used PTT Prem: since and it runs like normal. I don't know what's going on now with all the new diesel speck, so will stick to Premium easy to sort out. Just look for the white label.

I didn't take any O levels I was to busy earing monies. Don't have time to mess about trying to change Edge auto set up. Ok site? but it does tend to do what it wants. At least some on here will have a full time job. They more than likely cant fathom that 80% on TVF. English isn't their first language. Oh a happy new year to all.

In my defense I have just changed my server to Edge and it has auto grammar check. It will change things to what it thinks it should be. Works fine on Emails but any other site it changes things without any warning. If you don't double check prior to posting your left with what it has decided to do. N/B At times it does change to USA Spelling/Grammar. Then your really Bug/ered.
