Oh and all Thai wives and girlfriends tend to have 4 yr degrees, Chinese and absolutely never been to a bar. So you got the typical Thai wife so we all read b/w the lines. Your secret is safe with us unless she is hijack g your account and reading this post.

  2. We have accounts at SCB, KBank and Krungsri and some how they would not give us a credit card. Had one at Bangkok Bank and they gave us the runaround during my whole vacation we moved that account to SCB. We have various types meaning ownership joint, her name only and my name only. We do not live in Thailand and never make withdrawals except from a joint account during our yearly trip to Thailand. So I am curious how and where are you guys getting credit cards? Do they offer the consumer fraud protection as in the US? We do keep sizable balances but maybe what is big to me is not big enough. Appreciate any advice.

Oh and by the way Krungsri has the best customer service no matter which branch but seem to go to Fortune Town the most. KBank typically is very nice but when asking for any service like bonds or credit cards they only want to sell us some type of insurance which infuriates me. SCB we had an odd experience and for some reason could not us the online service. In order to correct it we had to open a dummy account? Then we could access the other account online. If I had not transfered some money the dummy account would have closed after one year without a balance. The customer service lady left that part out. We only learned as we got an SMS message warning the pending closing. If it had closed we would no longer have been able to access our other account.

By the way I highly recommend keeping a separate phone with your Thai SIM card if living outside Thailand to get bank SMS messages. It keeps us informed if anyone gets access and hopefully before too much gets gone.

  3. This is sad to see. The country can never rebuild and let its citizens move on without political renegades destroying public and private property in the name of democracy. That is clearly criminal behavior and the leaders of any party that incites it's people to cause harm to others should be held accountable and face imprisonment for crimes committed.

  4. Well we had more difficult time than listed by others here. My wife was a gov't employee when she first applied and not married. She was turned down. Then we were married for one year and living with residence in a foreign country, UAE, and denied. A year later with residency in Saudi Arabia she applied for visa in BKK and denied again. This was the third yearly vacation to the US for me to see my elderly parents so it was hard not being able to take her on these trips which were shortened because of her not being with me. She had letters of invitation from my parents, income letters from my company, copies of resident visas, her bank accounts etc. since her house register is Chang Mai she decided to go up there to the US Consolate two weeks after being rejected in BKK and no issues with her visa acceptance. Now the more interesting part, she was awarded a ten year multiple which is standard from others I know. The length of stay is only determined by the customs agent at time of entry. Of the four times to the US the agent has requested to see me before assigning a length of stay. Several times we have seen people on arrival with visas not allowed to enter when traveling alone. My wife explains to me that Thais have a bad reputation of going to a country and not leaving. Best of luck and there is no rhyme or reason but don't give up if turned down. I have a close family member who works for the State dept who I did not ask for help but said the most important thing not to do is lie. It will be documented and it could prevent from ever getting a visa.

  5. Well sounds like a bunch of sour pusses making comments. You think being successful at their level was easy and all just about being criminal? They played the same game eveyone else had the opportunity to play. They just played it better. To manage an orginanization the size that these people control and some built, itself is a feat that few can manager or perform. No matter how all feel about these men, they have created more jobs than all of us on this site have created. These men have created industries that have led to benefits for the whole of Thailand. Who do you think pushes the govt to pave roads and other infrastructure so these people can expand their businesses? The benefits these business have brought to all is not so easily identified regardless of their moral believes and actions. No one is a saint. As much as some people hate Thaksin he still had great ideas for Thailand but he was just too corrupt. If he had stayed pure in belief to his country his ideas for Thialand were far better than any have put forth to date. In theory he was against the centralized weathy of Bangkok who you guys on here are hammering!!!! I am no way a supporter of Thaksan and hope he never gets back in power nor has any influence over thsi great nation, I know he does but wish for better. Just be open and find goodness in all things. No one is all bad as no one is all good.

  6. I am more conerned with so much world QE that all currencies will be floated/bloated to the point of hyperinflation since economies are picking up but not at the pace required to battle back inflation. Granted once you flood the markets with paper and no appreciable increase in jobs how the heck can you tighten the money supply without causing even more of a catastrophy? I certainly see more unstable currency wars leading to large fluctuations across the globe as all try to value the sea of paper. Having paper does not seem like a good place for my money. I would prefer something more tangible like stocks or realestate, if a doomsday theorist get a few baht of gold also.

  7. California has a large Asian population which offers support to Asian students which make it more attractive part of the US. Not even considering the cost of living in California. The big Universities rely on foreigners to pay the higher tuition fees so the Liberal Arts teachers can continue to make more money teaching than they ever could at a real job. Never understood why an English degree should cost as much as say a Nursing degree, Engineering science based degree. Getting off topic...

I am seeing more countries investing more money into their own high education system because of so many going aboard plus the cheaper countries can try to attract foreigners to their system for business similar to the Medical Tourism trades which India is perfecting and Thailand is doing ok but not on the same scale of India. Going back to Univiersities for profit UAE has a long term goal of building 90 universities to attract foreign students and money. Presently Sorbonne University is in Abu Dhabi as well as NYU and so many others. The tourist countries can include one more attraction now!!!! The cost of the construction, cost of living( boarding) and staff salaries will be lower reducing the capital and operational cost to the Universities in turn they can attract students who can not afford to go aboard to the costlier countries.

  8. I got our a week ago a little off the top and rolling over but only 25% sold. Long term investor just time to redirect some profits to some

other laggard markets. Who knows when or if those will kick off again ( Latin America ). Still in Japan but was in it ever since the day

the PM announced his plans to start cutting interest rates to kick-off the economy. Maybe the drop has something to do with the flood

season and the news of recent times not too mention over valued and others taking profits and looking for other more secure markets.

Sentiment ( emotions ) causes more swings in the market than anything else whether they are financially justified or not.

Personally I like Thailand and its furture for stocks. Compared to Philippines which has done astounding well and the government who is very

active in supporting the market, I still favor Thailands economic landscape. If Thailand learns from PI it would be great. Both countries

suffer from corruption but infrastruture in Thailand is many times ahead of PI and will always be until all of the islands are connected in

a way to fully utilize it's resources. Poverty in PI is much worse than Thailand BUT the education level is way ahead of Thailand and they

all speak the international trade language of English. The language skills give an advantage for its population to abtain jobs overseas

in other areas other than just labor but at professional level. I have noticed more Thais speaking english now.

  9. My only experience with AA was good and for a short stay and no requirement to eat airplane food or drink during the promotion days we loved it. No issues with staff or the plan. It was very affordable. I will definitely fly again when we find the deal periods coincide with our plans which seems very rare. We need them in Oct this year so if you are an AA rep take notice we need another promo!!! Will be state side in July-August so no go for us. AA did purchase 50% of Jet Airways in March so possible new routes with deals, if I recalled that correcty maybe different airlines and different dates memory not like it use to be and some times I make up things.

  10. I am glad to see Japan giving consideration. My wife and I expereince many inconveniences regarding visas as it seems she requires a visa in most non asian countries of which Japan has been excluded from other participating asian countries to date. Glad to see it happen and as Asia becomes stronger I hope to see more border openings. Hell it took us four tries to get my wife a visa to the US and we do not even live there, I am an American and neither has any reason to stay there nor wish.

  11. Surely even 5 year olds know the baht will plummet and the reasons for it and the real reasons it was pushed so high.

Could you please explain in simple terms for my benefit,"the real reasons it was pushed so high."

Not being sarcastic here but I (and possibly a few others) don't know either the real or supposed reasons for the baht strength, just assumed it was because the UK and USA economies are in the xxxxxxx.

I guess I am an unsuffisticated 40 something...I was under the impression the baht was stronger because the money supply was tight and the economy was stronger. From the article I gathered the money supply has become a little looser by the lowering of the interest rate sending more money into the economy. The old addage for every 100baht released for loan increases the money supply by almost 1000 baht. So as the govt makes it cheaper to borrow more people and companies will borrow as long as they see ways to profit from their barrowing. I guess you could also argue these are grounds for inflation as well, more money chasing the same amount of goods.

So for me, one who sends a fair bit of my fortune to Thailand each month (probably a large tip for most folks on TV), is this a warning that more loosening is coming in hopes of kick starting the financial markets? I have noticed my share prices decline almost 15% in the recent week or so which is the wrong way. Would like to see my Thai stock go back up if it would be so kind.

  12. It is strange how one person's actions represents either all Americans and/or all teachers through quick generalization.

My generalization from responses to this article:

ThaiVisa responders are typically anti-American and mostly Teachers by profession.

Curious about the disguise used if any? Sad to see anyone reach the point of desperation.

Atleast it was not a violent crime.

  13. Who cares? If you like the girl and enjoy her company judge her on the relationship you guys have together. At that age the relationship will not last too long any way. Just enjoy life and whatever it brings to you, such as hot 20 something. Be thankfull I know I would at my age and if not married.

  14. Yup got two such letters and sent them to spam. I never communicate by email with Fedex. Always online at their site. If it looks wrong it goes into trash. Never take chances.

What about all the jokes sent around the world every day??? How many do you open that say xxx or do not open at the office? Some things you just too tempting.
