  1. Arrived at Chaeng Wattana Immigration Div 1 at 0745 and was told to stand in front. My age is 74 so "Elderly" I guess. We were allowed in before the early arrival line! More shocking my Extension Q # was L1 1. First time in 16 years.

My monthly income statement was accepted.

I learned last week that my health insurance was not approved so I bought an approved policy from Bangkok Insurance via email, no check up required. More expensive than other approved plans but it was approved the same day and they sent me .pdf documents via email.

This caused a a major delay. The officer needed to confirm that the policy had been issued and the system did not work. 3 hours later the paperwork was approved.

    My application was submitted with:

Bangkok Bank report of monthly credits. December and January showed the new transaction code "bahtnet" for the international transfers. My explanation was accepted.

The usual signed copies from my passport: Front page, first Visa, Last extension, most recent entry stamp, reentry permit. and arrival card.

    New documents included:

Hand drawn map of my condo location

Photos, printed on a single page , showing the front of my building with the name visible, a photo of my door, and a photo inside my unit.

Health insurance from an approved plan with the Health Care Insurance Schedule, Document with Details of coverage, and

    "Insurance Certificate

for Alien to apply for Non-Immigrant Visa Type O-A (Period not exceeding 1 year)

in accordance with the Cabinet Resolution, dated 2 April B.E. 2562 (2019)

HEALTH CARE INSURANCE FOR LONG STAY VISA"

There is A WEB SITE WITH THE NAMES OF PARTICIPATING INSURERS. "http://longstay.tgia.org/"

THESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ORIGINALS and caused the delay I mentioned.

One more note purchase a policy that is valid until your usual expiration date.

By the time my reentry permit was done it was 15:30.

  2. Hello all,

Having received my retirement extension for one year on January 29 I assumed I could use the funds in my account.

My extension was granted on the basis of US Consulate affidavit for income. I never showed the Bank Book and letter to the officer.

    Questions:

Am I correct in thinking that the income affidavit method leaves me free to continue to use the funds I had seasoned for 3 months?

Is the bank book and letter proof of THB65k income now in the regulation?

What was the date the new regulation (2 months prior, 3 months after extension) came into force?

Many thanks for any clarification you can offer. The pace of change in rules makes me feel insecure about what will happen next.

  3. I am confused by the need for the TM30. Any clarification would be appreciated.

My wife and I are US citizens, We own our condo and are currently remaining in Thailand with annual Extensions of Stay to our Non-O Visa for retirement. My wife most recently obtained her extension in August. No mention of the TM30 was made.

Is it now required for the Alien to have a copy properly approved TM 30? I assume our Juristic Person would be able to provide it.

    Many thanks!

  4. Hi,

I am an American citizen. I received a one year extensionof my Non-O Retirement Visa yesterday at Chaeng Wattana Immigrations.

    My paperwork consisted of:

    TM 47

US ACS affidavit of income and residence

Copy of the First page of my passport, each entry stamp, current departure card, most recent visa extension and transfer stamps for the previous extension (due to passport renewal).

I arrived at 9:15am and received que number 55 with 39 ahead of me. My que number was called at 11:45. Processing time seemed much slower than in previous years. The officer was friendly and efficent. She had to complete 4 new forms that I signed. All pretty rushed given the time. These forms were acknowlegments of overetay rules and the like. The reviewing officer was also friendly and worked extra hard to get my visa done before lunch. I left at the 12 noon closing with visa.

After the lunch break I picked up a Que number for Re-entry permit. I was called to the intake quickly but then waited until after 2pm to get my passport back.

Be aware that there may be new procedures that immigrations needs to perform that will slow processing.

    Cheers,

    Lou

  5. We are American citizens living in Thailand for 9 years. My wife recently resigned her job after 8 years with a Thai company sponsored Non-O B and work permit.

With the application downloaded from the Lao Embassy site and copies of an affidavit confirming income and residence along with two photos we went from our hotel to the Thai Counsulate via Tuk Tuk at 8am. (We tried to find it walking the day before, Sunday, but the map from the site was very old). We arrived at the Counsulate at 8:30, opening time. There was already a long line. About 8o peopple ahead of us.

There are two or three Lao stalls offering to organize your paper work and make any copies needed for 100 Baht. Well worth it since she did not have all the passport copies required.

After getting que number 87 we waited 2 hours outisde. Hot and disorganized. No signs informing applicants how the que works. After getting your number you wait until a staff memeber shouts out a group of 10 numbers. When your group is called (ie: 41 to 50) get on line quickly at window 1 or 2. After her paperwork was approved a receipt was issued for payment inside at window 3. After getting the paid receipt we left.

Returning the next afternoon around 1:30 there was again a large crowd in front of the building entrance since signs stated that passports may be claimed at a window inside. Actually we had to que outside using her original number - same system, same windows - and her passport was returned there. The visa was pasted inside her passport,

On arrival at BKK the officer took her to his supervisor since there was still a Non-O B visa in her passport. The supervisor asked my wife which visa she wanted to enter using. A big favor considering we did not think about that. He noted that the Non-O B was not used and that was that. 90 day entry no problem.

I will report on her application for extension next week.

  6. My wife a 67 year old American citizen plans to apply for her Non-O at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane. The Vientiane consular web page for requirements states:

"For the purpose of long-stay retirement...documents required:

    CV

Affidavit from US ACS for income

    Recent police clearance

    Medical certification"

We were not aware of the police and medical certificate requirements.

    Two questions

    1. Are these two documents required?

    2. If so, how does one get policw clearance if you have resided in The Kingdom for the past 9 years?

My sincere thanks for any clarification or recent reports you may be able to offer.
