To clarify I was originally a CTH cable customer who signed up and paid for 3 years but never received the CTH satellite box I was promised on 26 October. I then bought a GMM Z box in order to get the EPL and paid 6 months in advance. When I learned about the 6 February cut off I sent two separate emails to CTH in respect of the CTH cable account and the GMM Z account. I received one box today which mentions GMM on the receipted invoice but the call centre could not say for certain whether today's box was in respect of my CTH or GMM Z account.

Got my new box by motorcycle courier at 17.00 today following an earlier telephone call checking I would be home here in Hua Hin. Set it up and got through to 1619 after holding for an hour to get the Stadium channels authorised and one year free confirmed. Not sure if the box delivered today replaces my CTH cable box or my GMM Z box and the call centre couldn't tell me !

Have I missed something? Are you saying that the GMM Z box will still pick up the Stadium channels 1-6 until 1 March and that they won't be cut off today?

If so at least we have a little bit more of a chance that we might receive the new box by then.

Yes there was something in the other paper this week saying that they would consider at their meeting on Monday 8 February asking GMM to help their affected customers.

I'm not optimistic but there may be just a chance something may happen next week but I'll believe you when I see it because by then we'll all be cut off.

Please excuse my complete ignorance of technical matters. I have a True visions satellite dish to which a local satellite guy connected the GMM Z box I purchased when CTH pulled the plug on their cable system in November and they failed to provide me with the replacement box I requested on 26 October. Following the GMM announcement of the CTH service ceasing on 6 February I eventually got through to the CTH helpline once more and they have promised yet again to despatch the new box.

If I do receive the new CTH box am I correct in thinking that I can merely disconnect the two cables connecting the dish and the TV from the GMM Z box and attach them to the new CTH box and that will work or am I missing a trick?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

As a CTH cable customer I was informed that the cable would be switched off on 12 November so I called them on 26 October to request the satellite box which they promised to send out to me. I have still not received that box and out of desperation I bought the Grammy Z box and package for 6 months in mid November. Having read the posts above I called the 1629 Grammy number today only to discover that it goes through to the same CTH call centre. Having held on for over 90 minutes I hung up.

There is clearly no chance whatsoever that all CTH cable and Grammy customers will receive the new box by the cut off date in February which is going to leave a lot of unimpressed premier league fans to say the very least!

I'm back in Bangkok tomorrow for the first time since Hooters took over most of the coffee shop where I normally go to for a late brunch. I would be very grateful if someone can let me know whether it has relocated elsewhere in the hotel and is still open to non residents?

I signed up for the 3 year cable package in July 2015 when they won the EPL rights. I received an EMS letter from them yesterday in Thai only informing me that the cable service will be turned off on 12 November because they are changing to a satellite only system on that date. They have agreed to send me the new box for free sometime after 1 November on receipt of which I will need to buy a satellite dish and get someone to install it and get it working. Having seen their administration at first hand over the last two years it will be a miracle if all cable subscribers are up and running with the satellite system by 12 November.

Why on earth they couldn't provide more notice and get the new boxes delivered earlier is beyond me.

Does anyone know whether the PSV game will be televised on Tuesday night and if so on which channel? The True online schedule shows that True are showing the Galatasaray, Benfica and Seville home games which are clearly not going to draw massive viewing figures in Los?

I know that Bein have bought the Champions League TV rights for Thailand Laos and Cambodia but I have seen nothing in the Thai media to tell me whether True or CTH or any of the normal Thai channels will be showing the games.

If not can someone please advise me what equipment I will need to get to watch all the games. My internet connection is too flaky to watch online.

For those who may have the same problem in the future my lack of sound on John Dykes and others comments pre match half time and post match on CTH cable 136 was eventually resolved by replacing the box with a new one after approximately 20 calls to 1619 and two engineer's visits.

I always used the Laguna in the food hall for I guess 20 or so years on my trips up to Bangkok. Being a creature of habit and a regular I usually had the same dishes and the food bill always remained the same with little or no increase over the years despite the menu price increases. The same cannot be said for the drinks bill.

Can anyone please confirm whether the food stalls on the old mini night market at Soi 1 Sukhumvit are still there?

Also I seem to recall the Nana Hotel coffee shop had reasonable Thai fare at non rip off prices. Is that still the case?

Now that the food hall opposite the Soi 7 Biergarten has closed can anyone please recommend an alternative in the same vicinity for similar thai food and cost?

I live in Hua Hin and last visited Chiang Mai 6 years ago when on the advice of the Thai Visa forum I stayed at the Royal Princess which was fine. From a search it would cost me about 2500-3000 to stay there in January 2013 which is more than I want to pay.

I would be very grateful for any advice on a good clean and safe hotel/guest house in the same area at about 1500.

If my memory serves me correct I recall that at the time the cabinet was considering their options with regard to a disposal of TEC they passed a resolution changing the law in relation to the TE visa linking it to the life of each member as opposed to the life of TEC. I also recall seeing an article from Sunbelt confirming that this amendment had gone through all necessary legal hoops and been put on the statute books.Due to my limited computer skills I have been unable to verify the position. Whilst I appreciate that the current or any future government can change the law at anytime and may do so when they wind up TEC surely if this is the case it strengthens any negotiating position we may have.
