Popular Post roiethome
In the past I have extended my retirement visa for 15 years with no problems at all, getting the stamp same day. Now I am working again so last year changed to marriage extension. Today I had all the supporting documents and details as listed on the immigration web site and expected no issues, (same as last years documents) But the officer dealing with my case refused to accept the application as there were documents missing. She now requires: A map not only of my house but also where I work Pictures of me at a desk working Full details of the company shareholders When I politely pointed out that these were not listed on the web site, she just laughed and said no takes any notice of the website. Thailand 4.0 is a joke as they cannot even get 1.0 right. I hope this helps others avoid the hassle that I am having. 2
asiaexpat
Obviously the IO was expecting to extend your stay based on work. Your work information is not required when extending based on "Thai Wife." Try again and remind the IO you are extending based on marriage to a Thai National, but do not mention work.

He may have been using income method instead which would necessitate the work info. 2
roiethome
Asiaexpat. I need to renew using work to show I am earning more than 400K per year. I would never keep more than a few baht in a Thai bank as they have no guarantee like western banks and could easily fold. Interestingly the first officer refused to accept that I could renew using my work salary and insisted I show money in Thai bank. I had to insist on seeing the supervisor who was better acquainted with the requirements.

Has a Thai bank folded, easily or not, in the past?

Then you must have had a foreign income in excess of 65K or at least 800K in the bank. You must now be using income from your job in Thailand, which is why the are asking for the work information. If you had 400K in the bank or 40K income from abroad you wouldn't need to provide the extra Thai work related documents. Popular Post phetpeter
If working for a company or school you need to show contract, bank statements showing income to bank and directors statement confirming income, plus if a company they must show details and registration, if a school or government establishment they will have no problem. If working for self, you will have to full details of cash! to prove income. and I disagree that Thai banks are in most must more safer than easily on your funds than any UK bank. Your excuse is totally unfounded, My local banks are kind and very helpful and 7 days a week and late open are all in Tesco lotus stores. Try that in UK!
