Ace of Pop
Peaky Blinders...Gypsies? I have been a fan of this series from the beginning, but there's one thing I don't understand. The Shelby crew are referred to as "Gypsies", but I don't see how or why. Shelby is not a "Roma" (true designation for so-called Gypsy people) name, and none of the family except for perhaps Polly, (Helen McRory) have the exotic dark good looks of the classic Roma people. I became acquainted with a Roma clan in Portland, OR, and they were great folks. They love to have big family gatherings, eating, drinking and singing. They are very musical people. The Shelbys don't fit the profile. What am I missing? ..Not easy,I remember them in Lisbon as a Kid. Thieving scum they were too ,but the French ones were happy and not steal.Faces different to..that all I know about it

Popular Post BookMan
Television. Marcella: British ITV production, Crime show. 8 x 1 hour episodes, season One. I liked it. Worth a viewing. 7+/10Preacher: Based on the graphic novel of the same name. Almost works…might go somewhere…not sure, but its okay. 5/10 The Ranch: New comedy from Netflix with Ashton Kucher. Turned it off after 3 minutes. Standard formula of one joke every 30 seconds and a laugh track. Avoid if possible. 1/10 Outcast: A young man searches for answers as to why he's been suffering from supernatural possessions his entire life. Looks like c.r.ap. 4/10 in a generous frame of mind. Gomorrah: Italian crime show. Subtitled.. Season 2. Some very good bits here...one or two episodes a bit slow. Overall all a high class show and a winner. 7+/10 New Blood: 3 part crime style series. Too much coincidental stuff combined with general script idiocy. Watchable yet forgettable. Might be a whacky regular series coming up. I won’t be bothering. 4/10 Horace and Pete: This has been mentioned here before. A VERY offbeat humour/drama show from Louis CK and the gang. This is something totally different. I liked it, but can be involved watching, at times slow. 7+/10. Rake: Australian series. Comedy/crime/drama. Season 4 mid way through. Richard Roxburgh makes this series what it is. Some funny moments. Still a fave of mine. 7+/10 Into The Badlands: 6 episode first season from AMC. (renewed for a 2nd season). Post apocalyptic style. Samurai/martial arts warriors of the future are the protectors in a world divided into feudal lands where Barons rule . A lot or beautiful people living in the future…I suspect once the futuristic worlds of AMC and SF channel discover one another, there will catwalk-offs, baby oil coverage face-offs, hair styling and skin cream product swapping and some ‘search for supermodel’ series tie-ins. Overall, I didn’t mind it. Flaked:Netflix production with all episodes available. Comedy/drama…not sure about it yet..i will watch a few more. Flaked" is a new comedy series starring Will Arnett. Set in the insular world of Venice, California, Flaked is the serio-comic story of a self-appointed "guru" who falls for the object of his best friend's fascination. Soon the tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullshit that underpins his all-important image and sobriety begins to unravel Movies:Whisky Tango Foxtrot: Tina Fey was terrific in this. Comedy/Drama/War Journalism. Well worth a watch. 7/10 The Call Up: Something about Online gamers playing a game to the death. 10 minutes in and I turned it off. Rating unknown. Don’t bother. Cell: Based on a Stephen King novel. The world’s population is infected by a virus spread via cell phones turning people into violent mindless zombies. Watchable enough though flawed. 5/10 Warcraft: Based in the game. Awful stuff. One for fans only. 3/10. Sleep inducing

jope
Just saw an advert for Fox that says Billions premieres on July 7th. I take it that's season 2[emoji1303] That would be great. But I cannot really believe it. Season 1 ended in April and a break of just three months between two seasons seems rather short. And it it runs on Showtime, not on Fox. But again, it would be great.

rijit
Im loving atm;, ' new ish seasons of 'unreal' 'casual ' 'Silicone valley' 'orange is the new black' , liking 'turn' not liking 'preacher' great production but basicly seems a piss poor story, that doesn't particularly work in its current format. And can't be bothered with ' bloodline' got to episode 6 and just to slow, though when out of options may well return and just uninterested in game of thrones,, a shaky ish start but 'roadies' could develop,, but we will see. 'Hell on wheels' again the juries out Sent from my GT-I9000 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Popular Post Frank James
Orange is the New Black Season 4, So far... I am very favorably impressed with the fourth run of this series, which I almost decided to give up on in the last season. The writing has improved, and new characters have freshened up the mix. The show invites one to to take a hard critical look at the prison-for-profit industry in America. It's a very ugly business, which depends on the courts to send ever more inmates into overcrowded conditions, with little or no emphasis on what used to be called "rehabilitation." Such a business thrives on recidivism. It's great to see a show where an ensemble of relatively unknown actresses to shine. Ray Donovan is back this weekend! TEN, with Maxi Pads for all.

Patsycat
I found the first episode of Ray Donovan on KAT. Haven't watched it yet. Glastonbury - i remember watching Lionel Ritchie live from there last year on BBC2. He made a very rainy, dull day sunny!! Have you noticed on Orange is the New Black that during the end credits they play a song that sort of sums up the episode you have just seen? I am trying not to binge watch it, 2 episodes a day. But they are signed up for another three, so that will be good. Love Child is an Australian series, which i have mentioned here before, about an unmarried girls hostel in Sydney during the sixties. The third season has just started.
