PeterA
I have been checking my outlets in the house, using a voltage probe. Many outlets have voltage (220) on the Neutral pole of a 3 way plug, while others have voltage on the Hot pole of the plug. I am not using a DVM, or checking potential between hot-neutral and ground. Is this a problem? Thanks!
Crossy
They should (of course) be right and it's the work of a few minutes to correct. In reality, there are very few modern appliances which care, many have reversible 2-pin plugs anyway. There is certainly little immediate danger, but do set about fixing them. EDIT What would be a hazard is L and N swapped at the entrance to the house, so before doing anything else verify that the output side of your breakers is actually the hot. 1
