Just ignore them and they will get tired and hungry after a few days in the rain and go back where they came from.... Pavement vendors are a blight and when Thais stop to buy something they block the road with their pickup or taxi, further adding to the conjestion

skorp13
Street vendors are a huge part of the livelihood and pulse of Bangkok not to mention a huge part of the tuorism that flocks to the capital. Locals, tourists, and business people suffering from this

millwall_fan
This is all typical of the arrogance of the rich, the elite and the junta: In Singapore when the government wanted hawkers off the streets they built Hawkers Centres in every neighbourhood and provided decent quality fair rent stalls for the traders. Here the rich charge sky high rents for the buildings they own that place them WAY outside the rate the traders can afford, leaving them no alternative but to take to the pavements.
Nyezhov
Some people here forget that Thailand has only been a "civilized" country in Western Terms for 100 years. Other guys forget that times change, and that developing countries aren't zoos for the amusement of tourists.

I haven't been there for years but the traders around on nut BTs were moved into a market style venue and it was neat, tidy and clean Beer and food on sticks were the same price so the rent can't have been too excessive....
