How To Say 'the Mixture Is Too Rich' ?

Not sure I fully understand what 'rich' means in English there, but I interpret is as 'not diluted enough' i.e. too 'thick' or too much of one ingredient. Sorry for any misunderstanding...

If so, it might be easiest to specify which ingredient that's been overused.

ใส่ ingredient มากเกินไป

sai [ingredient] maak goen (or 'gern' for those who don't pronounce the 'r') bpai

or, specify what there is not enough of:

ใส่ ingredient ไม่พอ

sai [ingredient] mai paw (or 'por' for those who don't pronounce the 'r')

To say 'too thick':

หนาเกินไป

naa goen (/gern) bpai

Meadish

"mixture too rich" means that the mixture of air and petrol (or gasoline) from the Carburettor has too much petrol and not enough air

หัวเทียน hŭa tian the Thai spelling for Spark plug as David said. I'm not sure if it means "glow plugs" as in a diesel as well

the proportion of gasoline in the air is too high

สัดส่วนของน้ำมันรถในอากาศสูงเกินไป

or would one say

the proportion of gasoline to air is too high

สัดส่วนน้ำมันรถต่ออากาศสูงเกินไป

not too sure about that.

is carburettor หัวสูบ? i seem to remember hearing that...

all the best.

I find it very very useful for picking up new vocabulary ... thankyou DT :o

sat suan kawng nam man rot nai aagaat soong gern pai

or would one say

the proportion of gasoline to air is too high

สัดส่วนน้ำมันรถต่ออากาศสูงเกินไป

David, try thai2english.com - all you need to do is paste the Thai text into the box and you will get the transcription underneath. You can even choose the transcription system you like the best.

You also can hover your mouse over each word in the Thai text and get its meaning.

Excellent ... thanks Mr M and aanon

i now have some advice from a thai car nut to add:

for carburettor, use คาบู (khaa boo)

for too rich, use จ่ายน้ำมันมากเกินไป (jai nam man maak gern pai)

all the best
