BANGKOK, 25 September 2018 (NNT) – The government has confirmed plans to establish an aircraft maintenance center in the country to French investors who have shown an interest in the country’s aviation sector.

After receiving a delegation of French business people at Government House, Prime Minister’s Office Minister, Kobsak Phutrakul, revealed that the government has assured the French business sector it is ready to support their various investments in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and touted Thailand’s geographical advantage in the region.

He noted that one sector that was emphasized during the meeting was that of aircraft and aviation. It was pointed out that Bangkok is home to two international airports, namely Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi, with U-Tapao Airport in Chonburi province expected to see similar numbers of passengers once it is fully functional in the next five years.

The delegation was told that U-Tapao is a suitable location for an aircraft maintenance center and has advantages over locations in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is expected the center will accommodate aircraft from Thai Airways and Airbus in the next two to three years.

Like proximity to Map-ta-put's noxious air?  Like tapping in to a highly skilled work force newly released from Thaiwatsadu?

The average Thai doesn't know how to service a gate.

I think the French fully appreciate the quality and dedication shown by Thailand when it comes to the question of maintenance capabilities of anything.  Don't worry Air France/KLM are not that stupid,  I hope !

I wonder what possible advantage to the French it could have over   Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines  other than the fact it is closer to Walking Street in Pattaya    ????

How to really dumb down potential foreign investors!

Did the PM Office think that the delegation of French business people had no idea that Thailand had an international airport?

Were the investors also told that Thailand had electricital and water services too? I bet that was a "game changer!"

I bet when they left that meeting, they cracked open the wine they brought, had a laugh, and dived into Thailand's "home raised products".  It's entertaining that they think nobody does their research prior to these types of meetings ☺️
