Hi. My name is Mike, and I live in the USA. Im retired, 63 years old, single. I read that many people retire to Thailand. I actually visited Bangkok in August 2018. I did return to Bangkok From November 2018 to January 2019. I enjoyed it for the most part. I do like big cities. . I have no issues meeting the new requirements for a retirement visa. I do have a few questions. But I don't want to be wordy posting them. I would also have to post them under numerous topics. Would anyone be able to contact me to chat one on one. Either by email or Line? Line would be good because we can have a verbal conversation instead of text. Thanks.

Hi Mike:

Just a thought. Thousands of prospective and current expats/retirees read this site. You probably have questions of interest to many so if they are asked and answered here, then a lot of us will benefit. Plus you might get better info yourself casting a wider net, rather than talking with just one person.

And if your questions are all related to retiring USA->Thailand then why the need to split them up? General Topics is broad enough.

Good luck.

I'd imagine any chat results would depend on just who you were chatting with, as reading through the immigration and general topic forums will give the following advice:

Thailand is a great place to retire to.

Thailand is a terrible place to retire to.

You should live in Bangkok.

You should never live in Bangkok.

You should live in Pattaya.

You should never live in Pattaya.

You should live in <insert any city/province/region here>

You should never live in <insert any city/province/region here>

The retirement visa requirements are fairly easy to comply with.

The retirement visa requirements change three times a day, and every other country within a thousand miles of Thailand go down on their knees to welcome low budget retirees, providing low cost housing, girls, booze, and a brass band to welcome you at the border (or airport, in the case of the more upmarket retiree in this category.  You know, the one with two singlets, fake leather, rather than rubber, sandals, and an untorn pair of shorts).
