Phuket Town officials start clearing footpaths, warn of B2k fines

PHUKET: Phuket City Council has started taking serious steps to keep the footpaths throughout the town clear of vendors’ stalls and illegally parked motorbikes.

 

Officers from the law enforcement division of Phuket City Municipality started their campaign at 9am on Thursday (June 6), clearing all obstructions from the footpaths along Yaowarat Rd.

 

Ordered removed from the sidewalks were vendors encroaching onto the public walkways, and illegally parked vehicles.

Many sidewalks in Thailand are very well built ... only then every 10 meters you will find a street lamp in the middle of the pavement that forces you to go down to the road and then go up again after the street lamp.
WHO SHOULD PAY THE FINE???

I note the tactile guide path for the blind ...complete with the shop steps intruding onto the path for them to trip over.

 No doubt the shop owners thought the yellow pavers were just to make it look pretty.......

The shop owners probably laughed their socks off...silly blind poeple tripping over the crap on the pavement !!

Take a look at the sidewalks in Pattaya. Pedestrians use the roads because the footpaths are taken up by vendors, beer bars, cafes and parked motorcycles. Check out the corner at Second road into Soi Diana !!!

Not just the "vendors" but as stated earlier...phone booths,bus stops,light posts,electricity pylons,trees,drain covers...anything that could possibly block the footpath is on the footpath...!

There are no "blind dogs" in Thailand because they would not be able to lead the blind because they could not see where they should be going.  Or are you referring to Guide Dogs which are also known as Seeing Eye Dogs, and come under the category of Service Dogs?

55555 blind dogs for the blind doooh sorry for silly mistake....still I've never seen a guide dog in Thailand...sniffer dogs at the airport yes.
