A specially arranged commercial  flight for joint repatriation of  Australians and Singaporeans from Phnom Penh International Airport  via Singapore to Australia, left the Kingdom at 3.35 pm yesterday. The Singapore Airlines flight SQ 191, transited in Singapore’s Changi International Airport for approximately two hours, allowing Singaporeans to disembark before continuing onto Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport.

The flight held approximately 250 passengers, bulk of whom were Australians who had been stuck in Cambodia since the introduction of severe travel global restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic approximately two months ago. The flight was considered a “special consideration’’ by all authorities under current travel restriction arrivals in both Singapore and Australia.

Peter Gillard, who had created the Facebook group ‘’Aussies stuck in Cambodia’’ to assist stranded Australian citizens get out of Cambodia, told Khmer Times yesterday the process had gone as smoothly as one would expect and everybody was just relieved and happy to have a confirmed seat back home.
