Renewing Work Permit And Visa

Hi Guys. I currently have a Non Imm B visa (multi entry) and a work permit which both expire shortly (The work permit was made to run out at the same time as my visa). Do I need to do a border run to get another 90 days on my visa before renewing the permit? or can I just go to Immigration for the next 90 days as I already have work permit? (Still having to do a border run seems pointless if I am legally working in thailand but I've heard so many different stories!)

Any help or guidance on this matter would be much appreciated...

option 1

do a border run.get a new 90 day permit of stay stamp in your passport.extend your WP based on this new 90 day stamp.

option 2

go to immigration and get a one year extension to your current permit of stay.extend your WP based on this new extension of stay. you can then also get a multiple entries re-entry permit which will save having to get a new non immigrant visa when it's use by date lapses.

+ Pls answer:based on the prohibited jobs.: Is it true that even u have a work permit you cant actually charge money from the costumers?

Is it prohibited to work in a service shop types (such as minimart,internet cafe,bar..) EVEN THOUGH u do have a work permit to work in this business and categorized as "General manager" because u r a foreigner?

Option 2 is not available if your employer is a start up company (Unless they are BOI) as they also need to meet other criteria such as minimum equity of one million Baht on the audited balance sheet. Higher gross sales in the previous year than the current year’s salaries for foreigners, etc.

This is a different type of extension of stay which is based on being married to a Thai national.

It just depends on the wording of your job description in your work permit.

Exactly what I wrote. Its not the position title that is important. It’s the job description for that applicant that is important in the work permit. Can a foreigner work in a service shop and have a work permit? Yes.

My own personal work permit gives me the right to work in a shop that sell wholesale/ retail food and drinks. I have the right to manage, train staff, talk with customers and have the right to sign on the behalf of myself.
