Well, you can go to PBS.org and download say frontline or Nova shows but the shows are dated and only after they have aired for 3 months do they allow you to download them. Then you could always hook up with someone who has a slingblade and rent time from them to view the shows you want to see from the usa. I dont rent mine but I do have a slingblade and also have a connection in the USA so I can stream my shows over the net, also time shift them with the use of a Tivo.. but your choices are limited over here. If you find a better or different way of doing this please let me know...

Do you have a computer? Do you have a broadband internet connection? If so please describe the service and service provider.

Which shows?

I've heard that many many people in the U.S.A. digitally record TV shows and then make those files available for others to download over the internet. I think they use a technology called "bit torrent"?

If it's just one or two hours per week you could get someone int eh U.S.A. to Tivo the shows and then email them to you. A one-hour (42 minutes without commercials) TV show gets recorded and compresed to a ~ 350 MB .AVI file, for reference.

A slingblade is a device that streams TV video onto the internet enabling someone to remotely view their home cable, satellite or video recorder programming on a distant computer that has a broadband internet connection.
