Yorkie
I found this yesterday. First time I've seen it. It has a taste very similar to black pepper and would be a interesting seasoning for my beef stew. Does anyone know the English word for it? Sourdough Al
Is this used in cooking? I goggled Piper chaba and found lots of medicinal uses, but I did not see any references to its culinary uses. Tell us how you liked your stew seasoned with the long pepper!

realthaideal
"Is this used in cooking?" The Northern Thais use it all the time. It is used in Laap and some gaengs. If you look around at the open markets for the spice sellers, there is often a pile of these guys sitting out, dried and black.
