Hello to all expats: This is my third or fourth time I have posted:

Brief History. I am married to a Thai lady, and have three kids.

I am in the US during July and Aug and am preparing to take the TESOL Certificate Trainning so I might get a better teaching position. The fee for the certificate is 2,000 USD

Last time in Bangkok I applied at Tammasat Univ and they asked me my age. I am 63 and they told me I was too old. Many of the posts on www.ajarn.com mention jobs for candidates between 24-48, or no older than 60.

Question: Am I wasting my money to get a TESOL Certificate to teach English in Thailand if I am 63 years of age?

Yes,you might be too old.

I taught very briefly at a Northern Thailand technical college when I was 63-the oldest person on the campus.

And yes I have seen the ads and as a result I've concluded that at 65 I'm far too old to teach English in Thailand.

However,I was recently offered a 3 month contract to teach adults in a small architectural office in China, which I did not accept.

Consider the course as part of life-long learning.

Best of luck.
