Dont forget that gambling is actually ILLEGAL in Thailand, i dont know if that applies to casino sites, but i do know that applies to online betting (look back to the Euro tournement and the arrests made over that)

Just be careful and make sure you investigate the rules before playing poker online for real money.

You might also run into problems with many of the poker sites playing from Thailand. Lots of them don't allow players from Thailand.

They might not bother you until you win a lot of money then they'll lock your account since it's "suspicious". Most of those sites operate under a law of their own.

so you come to LOS to play pocker on internet!!!!

Weird, with so many fantastic things to do here, wonderful beaches, seafood, girls, shopping, fun, pubs, friends ...... and you stuck 20 hours on a plane to gamble inside your dusty dirt bedroom with a computer!!!

Why don't you buy a big carrot and sit on it?? At least you get some fun in your gray life :o

1. You seldom got a income of going to beaches, eat seafood, play around with girls, go shopping or any of the things you listed here.

2.I guess he will be doing the same thing as the most expat living in los, posting on this forum....be stuck inn front of his pc.

3.Just dont forget : ANY gambling is illegal in thailand....allso playing poker online.

So i advise you to be careful if this is you're plan.

Bangkok hilton aint a nice place.

yeah, also gambling on the internet is not FOC. Isn't it?

It's like going to the best restaurant in town, sit, and order a burger from McDonald nearby!!!

I'd rather prefer to spend my money on a beach with a Lobster on mi dish ..... :o

Be careful with gambling. Owned a bar in this town and 3 of us bar owners got together to organise a weekly, rotating cribbage tournament. Best attendance we had was around 20. All farangs. 100 baht to join in - winner takes all. Bar hosting put a bottle of Thai whisky up as prize as well. Fortunately, it was not necessary to drink it all if you won!!

After 10 mins, the Tourist Police turned up. Took a look around. We chatted to them and they left a few minutes later. The money was in an ice bucket, behind the bar and they didn't understand the game.

My old bar used to have a pool table. Regular police turned up every month looking for 500 baht, as they reckoned people could gamble on it. We never paid - as most of the farangs on the soi didn't.

Thing is, if you want to gamble, do it at home, be very quiet about it and never leave any money lying around.

I dont think that will be a problem if you play online poker... :o

I can acess the website with no problem.  I haven't downloaded the software or tried to play, for fear of getting walloped.  I'm sure you should have no problem playing.  But, make sure you move to an area with decent broadband ISPs.

do ypo know where the decent broadband areas are in Thailand? :o

I guess its were one can get adsl, right? (Bangkok, Pattaya....??)

During the Euro 2004 from what I can remember a thai police official was quoted as saying that it was NOT illegal to gamble on the internet in thailand, even if you were using a thai bank account, PROVIDED the site/transactions were located outside Thailand.

What would be illegal in thailand however, would be not to declare any profits relating to money used from a thai bank account as they would be subject to tax upon being transfered back to the thai bank.

Hope this clears it up :o

Fairly sure this guy was quoted in a post in the news section of the forum from an article related to gambling and Euro 2004...
