If you have to get to Thailand what would be the best route? I am thinking fly into Lao?

Is there a train from Lao to Chang Mai? or bus?

or is it closer through Cambodia?

Reply, please include details like how many hours by train or bus?

Is there a domestic flight from Chang Mai to HyaYin?

Depends where you are travelling from.

Best to find a connecting flight to Chaing Mai or Samui, both international airports that are open.

Cambodia to Thailand about 5 hours by road from Siem Rep.

Vientenne, Lao - Better to cross into Thailand via Ubon, Isaan.

Not sure either these have international connections. May be routed through BKK.

I'd pick a place to connect through where you have a plan B : CURRENTLY Phuket, Had Yai and Chiang Mai airports are open, but who can guarantee it will stay that way, AND that airlines will keep flying there.

So, I would choose KL. KL has plenty flights to those airport if they're open, but if not then KL is still close enough to Thailand to get there overland. (Bus, train, etc.)
