Rinrada
Something for the weekend... Down and Out in Pat with nothing to do on Sat.Afternoons... Last week we had an interesting meeting with many questions being directed to Khun Kamnod, Lawyer from Thai Legal Associates Co., Ltd. Niels Colov gave us a very nice talk on Rotary, how it was founded, how the Rotary was started here in Pattaya and how Rotary supports the local community here in Pattaya. We will have an exciting line-up for this Saturday, plus we will be having a lucky draw for those attending the meeting, so come along, you may just get lucky and win a great prize ! One of our Lucky Draw prizes will be donated by the Big Horn Reataurant, which will be a dining voucher for two persons and a mystery prize donated by PCD International. Help support us by telling all your friends about the Expats Friends of Pattaya and invite them to come and join us this Saturday. Every week we have lots of information for the local community here in Pattaya and also a chance for “newcomers” here to Pattaya to get the chance to meet some of the “oldtimers” here and exchange information or just get good advice. We also have an open microphone forum for all to share opinions and having various questions answered, and of course good entertainment. See you this Saturday at the Green Tree Restaurant ! wcr
Theres another club too, Pattaya City Expats Club meets on a Sunday morning at Henry J Beans. No Niels Colov Clicker Next week is the AGM so only members are allowed in, but after that all are welcome, (including board members from the other club). It shouldn't bore you. There are a mix of speakers for each meeting, so you could pick and choose who you listened to. The open forum at the end is very interesting and you get lots of useful help and guidence on all maner of things. For example there is a well known Travel Agent in Pattaya at the moment ripping people off and the police are watching them closely. I know who they are because of information given out by a club member to protect expats here. Why don't you give the Sunday morning one a chance. 10.30 am Henry J Beans, Beach Road. No door charge, and you don't have to eat if you don't want to, but if you do there is a breakfast buffet.
Clicker
OK WCR Maybe give your club a try:) No N.C......Promise?....lol.....
Emuu
To be fair, I've been bored spitless at both of them, and I've also had a great time at both of them. It depends a lot on the speakers on the day. To attend once and write anything off is a little unforgiving isn't it? Probably you only do yourself an injustice by that approach.
Aikido
I know what your saying emuu but i grew old at the saturday meet at the green tree mate, some Thai lawyer who looked like a bad elvis impersonator was speaking the day I went all he could bang on about was how honest he was and it was best to use him as opposed to anyone else yer right! and that was the only part understood. Khun ?
Stay away from these expat clubs, their only interest is seperating you from your cash. They will get you interested in something one of their friends do business in so as to collect a contact fee. Many of these ingenious people retire on half the money it requires to live respectable in a poor country then try to leach off other expats that done their retirement planning the right way. They love catching on to people who are in the planning stages of moving in country. Much more finesse than the timeshare people but still the same interest. wcr
Who are you talking about in particular? I am a member of one of the clubs and in no way are you describing me. Mention individual names if you have the bottle but don't accuse everybody as the same.

I am sure that this post is a bit unfair..... The add individual may be like that but in general they seemed fine......if a bit, well boring. To me anyway..... Admitedly, I did only go once. Maybe I should try again in the future.
Pattaya City News
My personal take on these expat clubs is that they are a good idea if they are run correctly and are not used purely as a commercial platform but are a mix of commercialism and center for information and advice. I cant comment on whether either club achieves this or not as I have never been.
davethailand
if the expat club is the same as on pp tv then i will definatley give it a miss, absolute <deleted>.
wcr
Dave pp news ie Niels is involved in the Saturday club. I am involved with the Sunday morning club. I prefer that clubs format and atmosphere. Its a personal preference. Both clubs serve a purpose, for me I have got a lot out of going on Sunday mornings, and have achieved a more active social life as well as I have met new people who I get on with. Howard, I am standing as a board member at this Sundays AGM. If I am selected by the members to be on the board I will be asking you to come along as a guest speaker. BTW Mr Noyes will NOT be the chairman or a board member as of Sunday.
Phil Conners
Each of them have a website. Why not check them both out? Jeez, what an unwarrented blast of bile and bitterness. Some people enjoy club-type gatherings with other folks and some people don't. If you do, by all means go. If you don't, stay home with one of your poxy whores. (See, I can dole out the same kind of garbage you do. Have a nice day.)
