happylarry
My son is now living in Korat and needs to do a visa run within the next few days. Can anyone please tell me which is the most convenient way to do this. Thanks very much. HL
maxjay
It's sort of six of one and half-dozen of the other between Poipet, Cambodia and Vientiane, Laos, as far as distance from Korat goes. However, IMO, your son would probably have a much better time going up to Vientiane for night or two, make a short holiday out of it. Nothing much happening in Poipet and even less at the Thai border town of Arunyapathet. Lots happening in Vientiane. Forgot to mention the border crossing at Mukdahan, even less happening there. loong
What do you mean by Visa run? Do you mean he needs to activate the second entry or has to go and get a new visa? If he wants a new tourist visa, then probably go to Vientiane.
happylarry
Thanks for your replies. He has the years visa and just needs a border stamp. Also he is married and not the sort to party it up so the quieter the better really. What I was hoping was that someone ran a minibus trip same as they do in Bangkok, but apparently not. prakhonchai nick
A run out to Chong Chom in Surin province would probably be the easiest. Less than 3 hours by car from Korat. Technically possible by bus, changing in Prasat, but I don't know how often the local buses run to Chong Chom

Vientiane is a great place for a short holiday with ones wife/GF. Great food, shopping, romantic hotels/sunsets along the river.
