Hat Yai Airport reopens after bomb blast

SONGKHLA: -- Hat Yai Airport in southern Songkhla province has reopened amid tight security on Tuesday, a month after a bomb blast there killed two people and injured two others.

Tight security measures have been implemented, the director of Hat Yai airport told TNA.

''People have to enter and leave the airport through a single channel. Everyone must pass through an x-ray machine at the entrance,'' he said.

The bomb caused around 11 million baht in damages to the airport, he said.

The airport authority has agreed a compensation scheme for the families of the bomb victims which will cost another 6 million baht.

''We have received requests for compensation from the families of all four victims. A young boy was among the two injured. We expect to pay them within the next week,'' he said.
